Cottage Profile This is a two bedroom cottage with a sleep cabin, located on Hay Bay on the shores of Lake Huron. 700 square feet of living area makes this cottage the perfect place for spending quality time together with loved ones. This cottage is conveniently located just three kilometers from Tobermory. Located on a dead end road, this cottage offers a tranquil setting. The main living area of the cottage is an open concept with the dining room, kitchen and living room in one large open space. Finished in pine tongue and groove it provides that "cottage" feel. A view of Hay Bay can be seen from the living area through the large lakeside window that runs across the front of the cottage. The sitting area includes a couch, four chairs, TV with satellite reception, CD and DVD player. A wood burning fireplace is the focal point of this room where on a cool fall evening you can snuggle up on the couch with a book while enjoying the view of the open flames through the wood stove glass door. There is a dining table with plenty of space for all six people in the party. The kitchen in the cottage is nice and bright. The fridge, stove, and microwave make preparing meals a breeze. There is some cupboard and counter space here as well. There are two bedrooms at the cottage. Both have double beds and a small window to allow some natural light to flow through. There is also three piece washroom with a shower. Outside is a sleep cabin that has two single beds. This is a great spot for older children in the party. (Pictures to follow in the spring ). For the kids there is a 19" TV with satellite reception, VCR, and DVD player. Outside of the cottage is a large deck that overlooks the water and is a great place to unwind. Here you'll find a patio table, umbrella, and chairs, the perfect place to sit and enjoy the view of Lake Huron. A key element of summer cooking is the propane bbq, which you will also find on this deck. The shoreline at the cottage is a honeycombed limestone, shallow entry into the water with good swimming. The bottom of the lake has a soft bottom and some reeds are found within the water. Swim shoes are recommended.

Cottage was really nice, but the waterfront is not suitable for swimming due to mud and weeds. It was even difficult to launch a canoe.
The location is great. close to Tobermory, the national park, and many other attractions.

All in all a nice place to watch nature at play, the beaver eating lily pads, the Herring diving for fish, the turtles, mommy duck and baby ducks every where...however I found the Neighbors too close ...when you want privacy at the fire pit...the small amount of fire wood provide was...too wet to burn...adding to a nightly cost of purchasing fire wood :(
Overall the cottage was cute n cozy...clean...with a the comforts of home.

We had a great stay at this cottage. It is well equipped with everything one needs to relax and enjoy Tobermory. I especially like that it is air-conditioned. It is in a very quiet location, just walking distance from downtown Tobermory.

My first impression when I entered the cottage was that it was indeed cosy. This was our first time renting/living in a cottage. I was really impressed how meticulously all the instructions were written on yellow stickies and placed where they belonged.
The kayaks were a good outdoor activity for us. And my 8 year old daughter was glued to the TV. The cottage also had a fairly good collection of books and Dvds. We even watched one of the movies from the collection.
The cottage was well equipped with dishes though we had carried our own.
It was located very close to the main market so we went to the main market everyday day. It was verry convenient since we stayed for a week and were cooking in the cottage most of the times.
The only thing that I feel could be improved is the shower area. The shower area was too small and was inconvenient especially when we came back with all sand from the beach - it was difficult to wash off all the sand in that small shower area. We also felt that a washing machine would have come in handy.
Other than that everything else was just fine.

Upon our arrival, we were quite pleased with the landscaping and the cleanliness and quaintness of the cottage. This location was superb because of its close proximity to all the important amenities in Tobermory (all the boutiques and restaurants downtown Tobermory, the Bruce Peninsula day park, the tourist information building where there is free parking all day long, the glass bottom boat tour operation, kayak rentals and much more). My husband would walk to town a few mornings to enjoy a fresh brewed cup of coffee from many of the local diners (3 km one way or could easily be biked). The only negative feedback was the fact that there was no drinkable water so you had to bring your own and the shoreline was swampy and muddy. Also, when we rented during the last week in July, the water levels were quite low. Because of this situation, the water that was pumped into the cottage was smelling of swamp and discolored. It was not pleasant to shower in. Lastly, a few of the appliances were outdated or not functioning properly and needed to be changed. If the water problem were to be rectified and a few of the appliances were to be replaced we would consider returning to this location.

Very nice stay at the cute and cozy cottage. Cottage was spotless when we arrived. We requested and paid for linens and cleaning afterward. The water view in is gorgeous and we were able to use the kayaks right off of the back of the house - really convenient and great time. Photos are accurate, very comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked. Lovely landscaping. So close to town, which was very important to us.
Only minor complaints - bedrooms are tiny (smaller than we expected) so luggage had to sit outside. Bathroom - shower door didn't close properly. Toilet worked a bit slowly and actually got clogged once (we unclogged). Shower dripped unevenly until my mom unscrewed it and cleaned inside and it worked much better. And right outside the side door its a little unsafe, someone could step backward unawares from the deck to the ground and could get hurt. We were told aC was central (we assumed Hvac), but it is a large unit in the living room. Didn't need it at all, so not a big deal.
Overall, like I said minor stuff. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back if visiting the area again.
