Cottage Profile Fort Belvedere is a three-level 2200 sq ft, four bedroom cottage at Cape Hurd on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron. The belvedere--like a tower's turret--is the uppermost level of the cottage and provides a spectacular view through the windows out to the lake and stunning natural environment. Here you can sit and enjoy the reading material or bring your own book - that one you've been waiting to read but just haven't had the time. The expansive living room space is a comfortable, relaxing area where you can enjoy evening entertainment via the HD TV with satellite, or take in the warmth of the woodstove on a cooler evening. The windows in this space are large, bright and are west-facing, so the space is filled with sunlight, particularly while the sun is setting. The kitchen has many of the amenities of home like a fridge, stove, microwave and more. The quaint kitchen has ample counter and cupboard space and has a view to the outdoors to let in the light, as well as a view out to the sunroom. There is a breakfast bar with two bar-style, elevated chairs - the perfect spot to sip your morning tea and chat with whomever is cooking breakfast! Just adjacent to this is a dining table that seats 6-8, with a ceiling fan overhead to keep the air circulating on warmer days. The cottage has four bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom is located on the lower level and has a queen bed as well as an ensuite four-piece bathroom with a combination tub/shower. Another Bedroom on this level has a double bed. On the upper level there are two more bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a double bed. There is another ensuite bathroom to one of these bedrooms and it is a two-piece with toilet and sink. The main bathroom is a three-piece with a shower. For your convenience this bathroom also offers a washer and dryer for use. The sunroom is accessed just off the living room and provides additional seating space in this cozy setting, as well as provides access out to the upper deck. There are two decks at the cottage, one upper and one lower. The upper deck is surrounded by trees but still has a very good view of the waterfront. Here you'll find a table with four chairs as well as two additional chairs so you can sit and enjoy the fresh air. A propane BBQ is located on the lower deck and is available for you to cook up the perfect grilled feast. The shoreline is made up of flat limestone rock with large stones. To get to the shoreline turn left at the exposed pond on the property and go around, continuing to make your way to the beautiful shoreline, crossing over a mix of rocky rubble on this natural terrain. Entry into the water is gradual before getting deeper farther out where great opportunities exist for swimming. Tobermory is a short distance away (10 km) on a paved road. There you can stroll through the shops in the village, visit the restaurants and the library and enjoy the beautiful natural harbour. You can also take a scenic boat cruise where you can view shipwrecks, lighthouses and visit Flowerpot Island. The sandy shore of Singing Sands Beach is just a short drive away (13 km) and provides a perfect place for the kids to play in the sand and swim.
Additional amenities include: firewood provided, wood stove, sunroom, 2 double's, patio furniture (table and 4 chairs, deck size: 400 sq ft, curtains, drinking water: well water, beds: 2 queens, 2 additional chairs), number of bedrooms: 4, number of baths: 3; one ensuite four-piece with tub and shower; one three-piece with shower; one ensuite two-piece with sink & toilet, living area: 2200 sq ft....Read more

We booked this cottage as we had family visiting from England so (7 total + our Jack Russell) so we chose this cottage based on the rooms available and also it was only 10mins to Tobermory, beaches and Cyprus lake.
Very spacious living area with well equipped kitchen, on main floor with small sitting room, two double bedrooms with shower room (with very handy washer & dryer) large deck which is a great 'sun-trap'
lower level master with ensuite, flat screen tv with queen bed and a further double bedroom across the hall.
On top of all this is the library room which has a panoramic view of the water and shoreline (fantastic if there's a storm it's truly breathtaking!)
Cottage was under renovation but no problem the owner is doing a great job and will be beautiful when it's finished.
It is rocky to the water don't forget your water shoes and a firm footing !
well worth the money we loved every bit of our time there :)

Wow, what a great cottage. If you want a cottage vacation that is private, with a great view and has lots of character, this is the place. You cannot see any other cottages from this one, and it it is very secluded. The kitchen is large and well appointed. The cottage was super clean and organized. The book room in the tower was astounding! It was clear that the owners really love this place. I love it too. Possible negatives: not accessible for persons with mobility issues. Swimming is possible (and we did every day!), but probably not ideal for very young children (ours are 9 and 12 so no issues). The bed in the master bedroom was very stiff...some like this, but if you really need a soft bed, it might take some getting used too. All in all, a great place and I look forward to renting it again next year

The cottage was in great condition and very clean when we arrived.
The cottage was very private. There was a cottage beside us, but still quite a ways away where we did not hear them at all. On the other side, there is public access / protected land that essentially extends your property line out for many, many yards. We met very few people on the shore line and really felt that all that wonderful area was ours as well. Invest in good water shoes with good soles. The shore line is very rocky and we were glad we brought water shoes. It made a big difference on enjoying the shore line.

We enjoyed a relaxing week in the treetops overlooking Lake Huron. This cottage is spacious, well-appointed, and bright, with lots of corners to be quiet in an a big common area as well. Lots and lots of windows. Part of the deck is enclosed for an indoor-outdoor feel. Interesting belvedere above the trees, or sit on the upper deck literally among the treetops. Full kitchen, big fridge, full stove, all kitchen equipment, BBQ - all clean and in top shape. Tap water from well drinkable.
The wide rocky shore is interesting, some distance away, and definitely not for playing in the water.
