We stayed for a week. Its in a nice quiet, spacious and comfortable cottage with nice big windows that gave a good view on to Lake Huron, although trees are growing that would eventually obscure the lake. It was clean. As stated, the beach is shallow but a bit rocky which can be slippery so care is advised. Having said that, sandy beach is less than 10 minute drive. Hardly any traffic on the roads leading to the cottage as its a dead end.
The downside is that cottage does not have washing machine/drying facilities, at least its not available to renters. For families with small kids, this can make it difficult as the only laundromat is in Tobermory, a 15 minute drive away. The bathroom could certainly have better and brighter tiling/decor. Also the oven wasn't working, at least I couldn't figure out the issue.
I would have liked to have a kayak or canoe available as well to save the trouble of renting or carrying one all the way from Toronto. Rear patio does not have access to beach so you have to walk around from the front, which at times can be irritating !
We hope you enjoyed your stay in the Tobermory area. It has so much to offer. We would like to suggest that if laundry facilities at the cottage are a high priority for you then you should check the vital statistics on the cottage page to ensure that they are advertised. This cottage does not advertise laundry facilities. This may be helpful to you in the future. We would also like to point out that décor is a very personal thing and while the bathroom décor is not your personal taste, it is important to remember that these are privately owned cottages that the owners have chosen to share with you.

“Clean, comfortable cottage; very loud neighbours”

Almost all of the features and characteristics of the cottage were portrayed accurately. The cottage was in very clean condition. We were quite impressed on that account. Unfortunately, there was one major issue that needs to be taken into consideration by anyone wishing to rent this cottage.
At best, the actual privacy rating for this cottage is a 2 out of 5. This cottage is very close to the neighbours. While the visual privacy provided by trees between the two properties is satisfactory, the sheer volume of noise generated by the neighbouring cottage is highly bothersome, especially if you are travelling with kids or want to catch up on some sleep. On every single day of our 7-day stay there, the neighbours were engaged in renovations that made it impossible to enjoy the tranquility and peace that one expects as part of a stay in Tobermory. To make matters worse, the neighbours launched their watercraft directly in front of this cottage and engaged in heavy motorized water activities, such as revving boat engine and Sea-Doo stunts, very early in the morning (6:30 am) and quite late in the evening (9:45 pm).
The pictures and panoramic tour of the exterior on the website are outdated and do not accurately represent the expansive outdoor living/party space that has been constructed by the neighbour immediately adjacent to this rental property.
The owners of this property have addressed these issues with their neighbours and there have been no complaints regarding any issues at this cottage throughout the entire 2013 season.

Two couples very much enjoyed our stay on Eagle Rd. the shoreline is rocky and it is a little slippery getting into the water but once there, the swimming is excellent. The cottage has a nice open layout and is kept very clean. The area is fantastic for hikers and outdoors types. The master bedroom was very nice but the beds in tghe other two rooms need andupgrade. There is a nice deck off the living room which would benefit from stairs down to the water. Although there is a cottage immediately beside this one, several trees keep it private but it can be loud espescially on weekends. Overall we enjoyed and would rent again.

This is a beautiful property in a great location. Our only reservation were the neighbours to the north who had a very large noisy party the day we arrived and were in the process of having another on the day we left. The rest of our visit was perfect.

The cottage was very nice, but we were quite disappointed with the waterfront - slippery rocks and shallow water made swimming almost impossible, we could barely walk to knee-depth in our water shoes and only went into the water once because our footing was too unstable - had to go to public beaches to swim. Wouldn't have been an issue with a spring/fall/winter rental - but problematic during a July heat wave.
Lack of privacy was an issue when the neighbors were home, we could see and hear them even from inside our cottage - we had to change our clothes in the bathroom or in the dark to avoid being seen, and had to close the windows for quiet when they were outside. Fortunately the owner kindly came to install window coverings a few days into our stay. In our opinion, the privacy rating on this cottage was overrated.
There were also issues with the satellite TV - the listing said we would get dozens of channels on satellite TV but we ended up having to buy Dvds because we couldn't get reliable reception except on a handful of local channels.
The owner of RentCottage was rude to us, argumentative, unsympathetic and unwilling to address issues - or to compensate us for our inconveniences. Fortunately the actual cottage owner was extremely helpful, polite and responsive to our concerns so we dealt with him directly after the first couple of days - his attentiveness helped make the week a more positive experience.
Our biggest complaint is with the owner of RentCottage, he is a local businessman who, in our opinion, provided very poor customer service - we will never rent from his company again, nor will our friends or family. To note, I have never written a negative review before this - and have rented many cottages (from other companies) before this one!
Overall, I would recommend the cottage as a spring/fall/winter rental for someone who doesn't intend to swim and is comfortable renting movies or reading books for the week ...

The cottage is perfectly situated on the shore of Lake Huron and the view and the sunset's from the deck are amazing. We had both our boy's with us 9 & 14 and although the shoreline is very rocky they still managed to go out fairly far and enjoyed the cool water of lake Huron. The cottage is very nicley laid out and very clean and all of your ameneties are included. The satelite service is not the greatest and there is no internet but we all managed to survive as there is so much to do in the Tobermory area. There are 2 deck's 1 lakeside and the other on the front of the cottage,so wether you are looking for shade or sun both will make you happy. The barbecue is getting close to it's final day's but still work's adequately and their is a baseboard heater that stay's on constantly in the dining area that could be a hazard if you are there with small children. But overall we had a great week at this cottage the weather was perfect and the lakeside deck was the place to be,if you want to get away from it all and just relax with plenty of fresh air and sunshine I would highly recommend this cottage.Dont forget to buy some fresh lake trout or whitefish for the barbecue it is absoulutely deliscious & the bakery on the corner of Warner Bay road and hwy 6 has incredible baked good's pastrie's,fresh bread, pizza to go and some incredible fresh jam's.Sorry almost forgot,if you like star's(not the Hollywwod type)at night this is the place,it is amazing!!!

The cottage was clean well laid out with a great open concept. View to the lake from almost every room. Tastefully decorated with nice large bedrooms for a cottage. The master bedroom was fantastic with a great view of the lake even from the bed. Good sized bathroom with tile floors for easy cleaning.
The kitchen had all the appliances and accessories needed for the stay. Loved the 2 tier deck and view from it. Privacy was 4 out of 5 as advertised. Would definitely rent again!

This is the fifth cottage that we have rented in the area and it has been the best so far. The cottage is very new and has a lovely airy feel because of the light wood finish and large windows looking onto the lake. It was nice a quiet and peaceful during our week. The cottage is well equipped however it would be nice if the owners add some curtains or blinds to the windows as it would be nice to have the option to shut out some of the sun and have more privacy in the bedrooms.
All in all a lovely week in a nice area, we would definetly rent this one again.
