From the moment we arrived till the morning we left our family savoured every second of our stay at "the good life". We have been coming to this area for many years. This was by far the best cottage we have been to. Great location in a private setting. The large on shore deck and chairs were fantastic to use both during the day and at night for star gazing.Well laid out pathways made it easy to get to the deck and the water and were even lit at night. As we are gardeners we really enjoyed the garden in front with its plants selected to attract different species of butterflies and humming birds. The large enclosed wrap around with deck with glass panels that allow for great views and shelter for the days when the wind picks up. Inside the cottage was a great open concept with the bedrooms tucked away to allow for sleeping in. The appliances were top notch.
Having said all this it was the little things that helped set "the good life" apart from the other cottages we rented. Things like a pot of fresh herbs growing on the deck, a well stocked miniature library in the rec room, a kitchen that seemed to have everything we needed that we forgot to bring with us, a good selection of CDs etc. It was truly like staying at a good friends place where you really feel welcome.
The only negative part to staying at "the good life" was having to leave.
To the owners, thanks for sharing this wonderful spot with our family. We will return!

This cottage was very well equipped to make you feel right at home. The beds were comfortable and the loft with the sky lights made it feel like you were sleeping under the stars! The rec room in the lower level is very warm and cozy.
We found it very peaceful and quiet and saw lots of wildlife in the area.
Although the tap water was safe to drink we chose to drink bottled water(water has a slight brownish colour to it).
The contact people were very polite and helpful when we called. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. The only thing we missed having at this particular cottage was a kayak (you can rent them in Tobermory)!

This is our 6th time renting a cottage in the Tobermory area, and this cottage has been our favorite for several reasons. First of all the weather was inclement for most of the time, but we have a relaxing time in the cottage with the view, surrondings and inside comfort. Gorgeous mature trees and lovely gardens, with plants still in flower, made every view a beautiful look out. The love with which the cottage is decorated made it homey, fun and relaxing. To watch the different weather systems brew up on the lake was fantastic. The only sad part of the visit was when Flicker flew into the window and broke it's neck. As birders we prefer to see them flying rather then dead on the deck. We kept debating on whether we could just stay a little longer. We feel very fortunate to be able to stay in such a splendid cottage.

We have been vacationing on the upper Bruce for eight years and have stayed at several different cottages. This was definitely one of the nicer ones. Besides the terrific location, the friendly service of the people at rentcottages keeps us coming back every year.
Pros of the Good Life:
Everything we needed was there.
There were little touches that made the place feel like a home and not just a rental property. I loved the flowers!!!! Herbs in a pot on the deck.
The entry into the water for swimming was terrific too.
Great to have internet
Stunning rec room in basement
Nice bay for kayaking (I brought my own)
Did you provide the great weather? Shooting stars? clear water? They were all great too.
Cons of the Good Life:
The hanging hooks in the loft bedroom fell off the wall. There was no real place to hang clothes there.
It was awkward to have the masterbedroom be so open to the living area. The portable screen didn't really provide enough privacy for me. It might help to have curtains you could draw across the glass railings. I ended up throwing towels over it when I needed privacy.
I would have loved to have had the hot tub available!!!
We really like to stay up on the cape but I would definitely consider staying at the Good Life again. Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. When I close my eyes at night I like to picture myself up there. It's what gets me through the year so I can go again next summer.

This was more then we expected. It was the first time I was able to bring my Mom to Tobermory and we can't wait to come back. The house was beautiful and very well kept. Can't wait to come again next year

This was the perfect winter getaway !
For a PHD student needing a quiet writing place it turned out ideal.
The home was so well kept, the property right on the water ... the snow falling, and falling, and falling ....Wow there was alot of snow which just made it easier to hunker down, stay inside and write, write write.
I would definitley return here in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Tobermory area.

We loved the home. It was isolated and located on Lake Huron..beautiful sunsets and a great place to take out our Kayaks with the our two young sons. We love visiting Tobermory and enjoy the quaint fishing community and tourist area. Plenty of places to visit if you love the outdoors. We would highly recommend renting this home and would also rent it again.

I have been renting cottages on the Bruce Peninsula for more than 10 years now.
This cottage is by far the best appointed one I have rented to date, it has all the amenities you will ever need on a vacation.
The setting is private and idyllic. The cottage is modern, clean and tastefully furnished.
The panoramic views are breathtaking, the gentle crash of the waves is a welcome contrast from the din of our busy lives...
