The cottage is very cozy and well kept, furniture is very comfortable. Very nice lake view from the living room and master bedroom, beautiful fireplace. We really enjoyed our stay, it was very relaxing.
The only little problem he had – sometimes it wasn’t enough dishes and cups for a day, would be to add some more.

We had a family of 5 enjoy a week long stay. The house worked great for our 2 kids, ages 9 & 11 and two parents and a grandparent. The house was very nice, in great condition, and located just minutes from the harbor and Tobermory. The kayaks and row boat were very nice to have and the ladder on the dock was very helpful for the kids getting in and out of the water.
The only thing to note is that while the house feels very buffered from the neighbors due to the evergreen trees on both sides of the house, they are close. If the other houses were also renters with loud, partying type of folks it would have impacted the tranquil experience we had during our stay. But this would be the same for most if not all of the houses in the area.
Another very nice touch was after the second day, the owner of the cottage called to make sure everything was okay and to see if we had any questions.
I would certainly recommend this cottage to a friend.

We stayed the first week of July at the Sheiling for the first time. We couldn't have been happier with the cottage and the area.
We were prepared for the actual cottage to be smaller than it appeared in the web photos but the opposite was true. While the main living areas were accurately depicted, the bedrooms are actually larger than they appear in the photos.
We spent a great amount of time on the beautiful deck overlooking Hay Bay - coffee out there every morning, every meal at the patio table, and cocktails in the evening. The t.v. didn't go on once all week as we were always outside enjoying something - kayaking, the row boat, swimming. Must-sees are Indian Head Cove and the Grotto at Bruce Penninsula National Park. Singing Sands beach was nice as was Dunks Bay (though this is a very tiny beach). We took the Bruce anchor tour over to Flower Pot Island - beautiful scenery and the shipwrecks were neat to see (if you're considering this, book ahead the day before to get the leave and return times you want as they book up quickly).
The cottage itself was absolutely spotless when we arrived and had every amenity we needed. I noticed toward the end of the week that not once did I go to look for something while preparing meals and not find it.
Beds were comfortable and everything worked as it should.
The owner, Rob, dropped by - very friendly and hospitable and able to give us some tips about our first visit to Tobermory.
The water in Tobermory is incredible - if not for the temperature, looking at it, you would think you were in the Caribbean - make sure to take water shoes though. The "downtown" is lovely and wraps around the marina. Leeside is a great place for Georgian Bay fish.
Our youngest teenage daughter and her friend were with us and our eldest teenage daughter joined us for the last 2 days with her friend - all had a great time. This was such a perfect vacation that when we returned home, we booked the Sheiling for the same time next year!

The cottage was exactly as pictured. The kitchen had all new appliances and every pot and pan you could possibly need. We especially liked the use of a row boat and kayak. The cottage is very near Tobermory harbor/downtown area, and the boats to Flowerpot Island. The neighborhood was quiet. The orchids were growing in the gutters along the road - it was amazing.
We didn't bring bikes and there wasn't anyplace that we found to rent them. Next time, if we can fit them into the car, we will bring our own .

Had a great weekend at the Sheiling cottage with some good friends. The cottage has everything you need and is in a great location, not only on the water with a great view but close to town for convenience. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Give it a try and you wont be disappointed.

We had a great time, again! We have been vacationing in Tobermory for almost 10 years now, with most of them being at The Sheiling. It is a great property and the owners are fantastic. We couldn't ask for a better vacation.

Had a great time at my first cottage rental. Cottage was immaculately clean on arrival. Kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and appliances. You can watch the sunset when sitting out on the dock. Kayaks are fun but a bit tippy especially when it's windy. Location is close to Tobermory. The only minor complaints was a loud toilet and the master bedroom has a rattling frame.

This home was beautifully renovated. spotlessly clean and very comfortable to be in.
The view from the deck was spectacular.
We were able to place lounging chairs on the dock and to sit, read and enjoy the waterfront all day.
Tobermory is a wonderful area to explore. We were also incredibly lucky with the weather, which added to the general feel-good atmosphere.

We rented the cottage for 3 days. It was perfectly clean. The beds are comfortable. The view from the house and the patio is gorgeous. Close to Tobermory, calm and no direct view on the neighborhood. Very good facilities: barbecue, wood fireplace, kayak. Bruce Peninsula National Park and Flowerpot island are easily accessible and are really nice places to visit.

The inside of the cottage was amazing and as advertised, absolutely spectacular inside, however...
The dock needs maintenance, exposed nail heads were tripping hazards. Also the deck is not safe for children under 8 to 10. Distance between spindles is to large, wood is very wet in spots and appears to be rotting. Also spindles are not fastened in a safe manner, one actually came off while we were there.
As a place for a adults, highly recommend it but until the outside is fixed up am not recommending it for folks with younger children.
Thank you for bringing these items to our attention. The issues raised have been noted by the owner. All nail heads have been inspected and necessary repairs made to eliminate any trip hazard. A routine check will be made on a regular basis to eliminate any potential future hazards. All deck and dock boards have also been inspected and, while there is no sign of rotten boards, all decking will be reviewed in the spring and any boards requiring replacement will be done. While the pickets are 6 inches apart, none are loose. In the spring of 2011, if time permits, the pickets will be realigned to a smaller opening. The cottage web page has been updated to identify this as a child safety concern for infants and toddlers

Rentacottage.com is a fantastic service to book a stressfree holiday. We've been booking now for 6 years, going to a different spot each year to get the full enjoyment of the Tobermory area.
The cottage is well equipped with everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The fireplace certainly came in handy for our very cooler week of weather. The kitchen was well equipped and had most of the basics. Location was a nice walk to town, and the proximity to the water was great. Definitely a nice spot if you have children as the cottage provides a nice shoreline.
It does take some getting used to the flag pole rattle if you are not used to that, and the dishwasher is very noisey if you run it at nighttime.

This our third time renting a cottage in Tobermory. We have had a great experience for all three years. This cottage was amazing, and we are definitely going to be back. The Sheiling cottage had everything in it that you could ever need or want.
