About 2 miles from the center of topanga and 10 minutes from the beach, just off old topanga canyon road, the house is nestled under 250 year old oaks, alongside a seasonal creek, backed by a mountain of native plants and trees, and set on 4 acres of land. Windows abound, allowing for the integration of inside and out. The landscape is full of life... One shouldn't be surprised to encounter rabbit deer squirrels frogs hawks woodpeckers owls bluejays hummingbirds raccoons coyotes bobcats and even a company of parrots who frequent the nearby trees. Topanga Canyon is cradled in the Santa Monica mountains about halfway between Santa Monica and Malibu. Bounded on three sides by 11,000 acres of State Parks and on the other by the Pacific Ocean, it offers ample opportunity for hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, surfing, paddle boarding or just napping under the oaks. Although Topanga feels a world away from the city, it is actual very centrally located when it comes to Los Angeles... 20 minutes to Santa Monica, 15 minutes to Malibu, 10 minutes to Woodland Hills and Calabasas, 40 minutes to downtown or Hollywood (without traffic of course).

A bohemian enclave, Topanga is home to many artists writers musicians actors healers hippies and survivalists. There is an abundance of art and artists in the canyon and every June you can visit the homes of many of artists on the Topanga Art Walk. For theatergoers there's the Will Greer Theatricum Botanicum, whose history stretches back to the 1950s when actor Will Greer, one of the many actors victimized by the McCarthy Era Blacklisting, opened a theatre for other blacklisted actors and folk singers on his Topanga property. There's the annual Topanga Film Festival late in summer, the Topanga Days Festival every memorial day weekend with bands on three stages over three days, the annual Earth Day Festival and plenty more at the Topanga Community Center. There's also live music at local restaurants Abuelita's, Froggy's Fish Market, Canyon Bistro and vintage clothing store HillBilly Hip. For a romantic meal there's Inn of the Seventh Rey. More casual faire can be found at Froggy's Fish Market. Or choose from a flurry of other amazing restaurants in nearby Malibu, Santa Monica, Calabasas or along Mulholland Highway. Looking for a massage, kundalini yoga, or a healer.... I can connect you with any number of amazing healers and classes in the canyon.

The coast is just 7 miles from the house, and our LA beaches are some of the best in the world....Where to get started… Los Angeles has just about every type of beach you can imagine. The best local surf beaches are Malibu's Surfrider Beach, Topanga State, Venice … If your looking for romantic beach, El Matador is one of the most beautiful beaches in Malibu with amazing rock formations, sea caves, and secret coves to escape into… but be sure to check the tide schedule beforehand as the sand disappears during high tide. Good people watching can be found at the Santa Monica Pier, Malibu Pier and along Venice Boardwalk. Find incredible tide pools at Leo Carrillo State Beach. And Santa Monica State Beach offers 2 miles of sandy beaches to sunbathe swim or play volleyball, or even swim at the Annenberg Community Beach House.

For motorcycle enthusiasts, a visit to The Rock Store is imperative. One of the most famous biker hangouts in the world, it's located just 17 miles away on Mulholland Drive, along windy motorcycle fabulous mountain roads. Old Topanga Canyon Road is also a favorite of the road bike crowd. However, it's a wonderful drive even if you don't ride. On the way to The Rock Store stop in at the historic restaurant The Old Place founded by cowboy actor Tom Runyon. Once frequented by the likes of Steve McQueen and Burgess Meredith, it looks something like a frontier saloon. If you like your kill on the wilder side visit the romantic 100 year old Saddle Peak Lodge, which specializes in game meats. From here you can wind through the Santa Monica Mountains through any number of canyons or take Mulholland all the way to the coastline.
