Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is located about half-way between Brescia and Verona, and between Venice and Milan. The lake, with its clear warm water, sunny beaches, mild climate, and Mediterranean vegetation has been a favorite spot since Roman times and has inspired poets and writers through the ages, such as Catullus, Goethe, Joyce and D'Annunzio. There are many interesting little towns along the coast and up in the hills - Salò (8 km) and Gardone Riviera (4 km), the beautiful Sirmione (37 km). This is an area rich in natural beauty, history, and culture, with good restaurants and shops. On Lake Garda you can find facilities for almost any kind of sport and activity, from windsurfing to sailing, golf to rock-climbing, bungee-jumping to trekking, from cycling to horseback riding. Two golf courses are in the vicinity. Families with children won’t want to miss the theme parks at Gardaland (30 minutes by ferry, then 25 km) and Caneva World (30 minutes by ferry + 15 km). There is a public swimming pool (indoor and outdoor) nearby in Salò.
Palazzo Garda is is located just a few kilometers from the historical center of the lively lake resort of Toscolano Maderno. It is an elegant apartment located on the Piano Nobile (upper floor) of a three-story historic villa and is a wonderful example of 18th century Venetian architecture.
It is possible to walk into the village (500 m), where you will find bars, Tabacchi shops, and a delicious Trattoria. A larger shopping center with pharmacy, grocery shops, post office and bank is less than one kilometer away. The closest train station is at Desenzano del Garda (27 km). The building is located on a road used only by people living in the area or going to the little porticciolo (small harbor) next to the house. During the summer season, there could be some noise from the harbor, but it should not be problematic, since the harbor is quite small. In a two-minute walk you can reach the small beach of the porticciolo. Within 10 minutes by car you reach the Toscolano Maderno beach which offers you swimming, windsurfing and sailing.
The main entrance leads to the garden, shared with the owner, who lives upstairs in the second floor, and with two other apartments located on the ground floor; however, the other guests use the garden only for access to the lake. The main part of the garden and the furnished patio with marble columns are exclusively reserved for guests of Palazzo Garda. Four lounge chairs and a table for dining al fresco are provided. The garden offers lovely places to relax in the shade or sunbathe by the lake.
There is parking for two cars, and additional parking is available in the public lots just in front of the building.
A splendid Pietra Serena staircase (36 steps) leads to the upper floor - Piano Nobile - where the apartment is located. The whole floor measures 700 sqm. Furnished with beautiful antiques, all of the rooms are decorated with frescoes dating back to 1798. Floors are antique cotto. Palazzo Garda has a nice view overlooking the small harbour and the lake. It is the perfect place for those who want an authentic experience in a special atmosphere.
Palazzo Garda can be combined with Casa della Legna (also featured in our portfolio), a separate accommodation adjacent to the building, making it a good choice for groups of up to 12 guests.
Additional amenities include: lake access, parking for two cars (additional parking is available in the public lots just in front of the building), gas range, shared garden with separate outdoor area for the palazzo garda guests, juice maker....Read more

We stayed with our family of six (4 children aged 1-8 years)in the approx. 300 sqm first floor of this more than 200 years old beautiful Palazzo. Whereas the spacious Palazzo allows for privacy, the beautiful garden is shared with up to four more families staying in the neighboured appartments.
There is direct access to the lake, however, we have not used it due to seaweed. This is the only thing the could easily be improved: Clean the mini-beach and extinct the seaweed and you have to ultimate lake experience!
The location is quiet, only a few (but good) restaurants close by, also a bakery, espresso bar, mini market ca be reached without using the car. Despite our visit during peak season the area is not touristy at all.
The included daily cleaning service is a great value add for such a big family! All in all a great stay, worth every penny!
