“Beautiful & Just as Advertised”
This is a wonderful, authentic villa far enough outside of Ubud that you feel like you're a million miles away from the hustle & bustle of the town centre. Staff are friendly & helpful, particularly Ketut. Edi the driver is also excellent. Kevin is quick to answer any inquiries & is a pleasure to deal with. The villa, pool & views are so beautiful, you unwind within hours of arriving. As described, they try their best not to charge any additional 'add ons' like so many places do. Laundering, trips to town, drinks, breakfast & filtered water are all included, and if you want the staff to bring you takeout so you don't have to go anywhere, they only charge what the restaurant prices are - nothing extra. Whilst it really was amazing & I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, there were a few little things I feel I should mention: The pool lounge cushions have probably seen their day - they're riddled with mould & you can't lie on them without a towel. There are a lot of local 'wildlife' (frogs, geckos, etc) that live in the roof of the villa & poop on things from above constantly. Obviously you're essentially in the jungle, so animal life is to be expected & actually quite endearing, however when huge poops keep dropping from the sky it's a little disconcerting! The villa was cleaned regularly, however the poops were back within minutes of them leaving, so watch where you walk & where you lay your belongings. There is a coffee percolator on site which is handy, however it was dirty when we arrived, and despite us using it daily, it was never cleaned by the staff. Coffee cups & glasses were also never replaced when removed, meaning we were constantly asking for new ones - I would have been happy to wash them myself had they been left behind, just so I had some to use! The 'outdoor' bathroom is literally just that - so bear in mind that during torrential rains, it's raining in the bathroom too! (not necessarily a negative, but thought it worth a mention!) Whilst I felt the need to point these things out, they really didn't deter from our stay at all. We had a great time at Beji Sari and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, tranquil & authentic Balinese holiday. Thank you Kevin & staff, you have created a wonderful haven!

Thanks for this kind review and pointing out to us specific details of your stay where we can do better. This is very helpful to us and considerate to those who follow you as guests. They will find those issues resolved. Do come back to Beji Sari again. Cheers, Kevin

We spent a long weekend in Ubud and had a wonderful time in Beji Sari. The villa was amazing. The most important thing is that we had space to relax, and we did. The pool was amazing and large enough to do laps if you want. It faces the afternoon/ setting sun so it gets nice and warm in the afternoon. Great for tanning and soaking up the rays. Outside the main bedroom is a dining table that sits 4 comfortably and we spent our nights there chatting. Breakfast was also served at this table. Naturally you want to have mosquito patches or repellent as there are mosquitoes, which is normal in tropical nature settings. We never used the sitting area (leather couches) on the main bedroom area as it was just too nice to sit indoors, but if you must, there's the option to. It's even air-conditioned! Do note that the villa is a distance from Ubud central. However, we had Ketut to drive us to town for lunch and dinner for there was no chance of starving. Do read the guide that Kevin wrote as it does list places for great food. No regrets and only excellent experience in Beji Sari. Book now! Kevin, we will be back!

Ervin and friends: Thank you so much for this kind assessment. Singapore is a hard act to follow, and I am pleased Beji Sari met your expectations. The 8 km to Ubud center, and your response to it, is the reason we offer the complementary shuttling. We aim for getting there to be easy and painless. Thank you for affirming that! You guys are welcome back any time. Come on back! Cheers, Kevin

“10 months after booking ...we arrived!”
We are only half way through an 8 day stay and I am compelled to write a review even before its over as I love it here. The surroundings are beautiful, relaxing and decadent! I've never felt so privileged before and while the place is fantastic, the Wayans and the Kutus are brilliant. K1 & W1 care for us so well. K2 (or as I think of him, Lenny) and W2 are so attentive and all 4 have made us feel so relaxed and nothing is too hard for them - even when the zoo transport didn't show up and then later got lost, K1 saved the day. The food here and elsewhere is delish! We stocked up on some snacks and drinks at the supermarket, which provided us dinner or lunch when we couldn't drag ourselves away from the villa. Our main reason to holiday was to relax and rest so we only booked a few things to see, the villa is the main attraction. So my only suggestion is a slightly bigger fridge so we could stay at the villa even more! Thanks so much Kevin for your help and the easy transaction in booking. We'll be saving our pennies to try and come back.

Bernadette: Wow, you are the first to post a review while still at the villa! Thanks a lot for posting it, and for your kind views of the property and the Kututs and Wayans who manage it. We built Beji Sari with just the kind of decompression you enjoyed in mind. This is what we aim for and it is gratifying to know we hit the mark with you and yours. Also thanks for the tip on the fridge. That's two in a row on that suggestion, and we are certainly going to make that happen. Get those pennies gathered and come see us again! Cheers, Kevin
“Amazing villa, amazing staff, amazing holiday!”
We just spent one week at the gorgeous Beji Sari. From the moment Beji Sari's manager; Ketut, opened the gate to the villa we were just blown away! The villa and its surrounds are absolutely stunning, with well cared for Balinese gardens and an infinity pool over looking rice paddies. The house itself is kitted out beautifully. Plenty of warmth and style and with all the mod cons we love; computer, coffee machine, plenty of movies for kids and adults, books and magazines, Cd's, scrabble and wifi (it worked perfectly for us!). Beji Sari is managed by the beautiful Ketut and Wayan. Their kindness truly made our stay. We have a 10 month old who received many cuddles and much attention from both of them. Even now, when we ask him where Ketut is, he looks around for him! Wayan's breakfasts were just delicious... I am missing her Balinese pancakes every morning! All contact with the owner; Kevin, prior and after departure was prompt, friendly and more than helpful. The villa is about a 15 to 20 min drive from the heart of Ubud but for us, this was perfect. Ketut was happy to drive us in to town (and its surrounds) up to twice a day and was always waiting to collect us at what ever location we had prearranged. You just wouldn't get this paradise in the centre of town! This was our first holiday in 7 years and our first family holiday ever and I m glad to say it exceeded all our expectations. It was a proper holiday; relaxed, warm and hassle free. We will be back next year without question but this time for longer!

Natalie & family: thank you for this kind and useful review. You highlight the extras we pay attention to, like the iMac, iPod dock, and others. We travel, too, and understand these simple additions as ensuring your stay is enjoyed and considered a good value for your hard-earned holiday funds and time. Thanks also for the praise of Wayan's breakfasts. Another reviewer dinged us on those and I'd like to think Wayan upped the effort, but I am not yet sure she saw that. The meal is not expensive restaurant fare gloriously presented, but it is genuine home cooking with a range of choices to suit taste and diversity during your stay. Thanks also for the praise in dealing with me. I am able to do this because we manage only one set of guests at a time. You have our undivided attention when at Beji Sari. We do not fail to understand this as much of the basis of our favorable reviews and, therefore, the quality of your experience. Please come see us again. Cheers, Kevin

“Our time at Villa Beji Sari was one of the most peaceful and bea”
Our time at Beji Sari was heavenly and over far to quickly. This was my 5th trip to Bali and by far the best one yet due to the beauty of Villa Beji Sari. Beji Sari is the best combination of Balinese beauty, comfort and tranquility. My family and I had an amazing time soaking in the beauty of the villa and the grounds. Every morning the exceptional Beji Sari staff, Wayang and Ketut, presented a deliciously made breakfast with fresh coffee and juice. All enjoyed on the balcony immediately outside our room overlooking the lush green rice fields. Ketut and Wayang would greet us every evening upon our return to the villa and arrange for breakfast the next morning. On the days we left the villa for diving or surfing at 7:30 am, they prepared the same beautiful breakfast for us at 6:30 am. I am at a loss for words to describe the tranquility of the villa. The upper room has a beautiful grass roof making the space even more inviting and spacious. The lower room is beautiful as well with a large bathroom and rain shower. By far one of the nicest features is the outside bathroom complete with an enchanting hindu stone statue in the corner lightly covered with moss and surrounded by potted orchids in the stone wall. Every day when swimming in the cool water of the beautiful stone pool, I noticed something different at the villa, a plant I did not see previously or a stone statue. It is truly a relaxing and beautiful place. Ketut and Wayang made us feel very welcomed. They went out of their way to help us with everything. Ketut graciously answered my numerous questions about village life in Bali too!

Anne Marie: thank you for this lovely review. Delighted you guys had a good visit. We do try quite hard on the plants and statues and very much appreciate your praise on this. Thanks also for the praise of Ketut and Wayan, the people who breath life and warmth into a stay at Beji Sari. Hope to see y'all again. Cheers, Kevin

“A wonderful return to Bali”
My husband and I stayed at Beji Sari for 12 nights with our two teenage daughters in early april. We first visited Bali 25 years ago on honeymoon and promised to return for our 25th wedding anniversary. We wanted to find somewhere special and found it at Beji Sari. It was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The house was beautiful and the gardens and pool stunning, but above all else it was the amazing service provided by Ketut and Wayan that made our stay so memorable. Wayan produced a fabulous breakfast every morning and Ketut would be ready to take us into Ubud and pick us up whenever we needed. If we didn't want to venture out for lunch or an evening meal they were more than happy to source a meal locally and serve it on the balcony. Nothing was too much trouble although we rarely needed to call on them as the house had everything we needed. The service they provided made our stay so easy. From Ketut picking us up at the airport with a coolbag of cold drinks and cold flannels, to arranging a car and driver for day trips. They were both attentive but unobtrusive and their dedication to their job and Beji Sari was obvious. One thing we had been looking forward to was using the bikes to explore the surrounding area and paddy fields. When we arrived there were only two bikes available but by the following morning another two bikes were ready and waiting for us. This is an example of the service you can expect at Beji Sari. There is little that can be added to the other glowing reviews on this site other than to say if you are looking for a beautiful and special place to stay with impeccable service, then look no further because you will find it at Beji Sari. Thank you Kevin, Ketut and Wayan for providing the perfect place for our 25th anniversary. We couldn't have wished for more and Bali is as beautiful and special as we remembered.
Response from the owner, Beji Sari - 05/30/2013
Dear Lesley & family: Thank you so much for this kind review. You again highlight the stars of Beji Sari, Ketut & Wayan. They do love hosting guests and work very hard to ensure your experience in their hands is as positive as possible. And thank you for having us consider the bicycles. Your need and desire for 4 had us look at the condition of our bikes and prompted the decision to acquire 2 new ones immediately. We take aim at complete satisfaction for your holiday experience. We understand and take quite seriously the reality that your time with us is very likely a rare and hard-earned break from the rigors of professional and family life at home. And the biking in the local area is a deeply enriching experience that introduces our guests to all that is special about Bali and its people. It was a pleasure to meet your lovely family and we do hope to see you again. Cheers, Kevin

“Best place to stay”
I friend just asked me if I knew anywhere good to stay in Bali and I remembered I had not written a review about Beji Sari. Of course I told him to stay with Ketut and Wayan in Ubud! This villa was one of (if not the absolute) best places I have stayed. The pool is magical, the villa itself so well decorated, but the staff are what make it truly special. Ketut and Wayan were the best hosts, even letting me play with the beautiful dachshunds when they found out how much I missed my puppies. I still dream of Wayans mie goreng. Thank you for having us Kevin. I can't imagine there is a better place to stay in Bali.
Response from the owner, Beji Sari - 01/07/2013
Kate: Thanks so much for this great review. I do adore my two dachshunds and appreciate you mentioning them. I love this breed because they have such individual personalities. In this case as distinct as Lady Gaga (Tami, the black one) and Margaret Thatcher (Susi, the brown one). Thanks for giving us a try, and do come back! Cheers, Kevin
“A fabulous holiday!”
We stayed at Beji Sari as a family group of Grandmother, Mother, 2 children aged 4 and 10 and the villa was ideal for us all. The villa is beautifully furnished and very comfortable, there's a great supply of Dvd's, internet, comfortable beds and sofas, an amazing indoor/outdoor bathroom upstairs, and verandah dining that looks out onto the beautiful garden and pool and to the jungle across the river that runs below the villa. The location is great, a car and driver - the amazing Ketut- is included for trips into Ubud and many tourist attractions. You can order meals in if you don't want to leave the villa, and we spent many nights enjoying our evening meal on the verandah. We spent a lot of time in the pool, absolutely gorgeous! The pool doesn't have a shallow end suitable for younger children however this didn't prove a problem especially as Ketut helped us find some pool 'floaty' toys locally. We can't say enough about the Villa staff. Ketut and Wayan were always available when we needed them, whether for driving us to and from town, the zoo etc, helping us to order in and bringing meals etc. They are lovely people and we really appreciate the way they looked after us.We always felt comfortable, safe and secure. The breakfasts they served were delicious - breakfast on the verandah, another highlight. You may be lucky and see a crocodile (small )resting on the river bank below in the cool morning - we only saw one but it was quite exciting! Airport pickup and return is included, and this, along with the inclusion of a car and driver was a real bonus to us. We loved our stay at Beji Sari and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Shae and family: Thank you so much! You have highlighted the real stars of Beji Sari -- Ketut and Wayan. We are so proud of this couple and the genuine warmth and caring they give our guests. They effectively manage the villa (and my house across the ravine) independently, as I am absent most of the time. Rest assured that they are rewarded for their hard work and dedication to this enterprise. They are priceless and key to the success we are enjoying with this villa. They have been with us from the finishing of construction several years ago and we think of them both as members of our family and stakeholders in the business of hosting guests like you. We are conscious of actually being hosted guests by the Balinese and consider Ketut and Wayan representatives of this treasured relationship, and we strive to ensure they reap a fair share of the financial benefits derived from it. We do hope you come back and visit us! Cheers, Kevin

What an amazing place Beji Sari is. From the moment we arrived we felt like it was a tropical home away from home. Everything was exactly as described. The pick up from the airport was hassle free, the beautiful infinity pool was hard to leave and Ketut and Wayan were very attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Being an avid gardener, I found the landscaping and surroundings to the villa were beautiful and really set the scene. The fit out and furnishing of the villa were also exceptional and very comfortable. My partner and I hired a motorbike and really enjoyed riding around the local villages and experiencing more of the real Bali, away from the hectic coastal resorts. We had a fantastic time and will be back for a return visit for sure!
Response from the owner, Beji Sari - 12/05/2012
Eileen: Thank you so much for this kind assessment. Especially for pointing out what can be gained by biking locally. We are indeed located in a village representing the "real Bali". This is what I find irresistible about most of the island away from tour attractions -- the extraordinary peace and beauty of ordinary, everyday village life: temples, offerings, traditional dress, the devotion to artistic pursuits, and despite paddies being a completely human footprint on the landscape, are nonetheless of extraordinary natural beauty. You indeed "hit the nail on the head" with that comment. Thank you! And do come back. Cheers, Kevin
“A magical place”
We had hoped the pictures online were not enhanced as sometimes seems when you actually visit a place. Absolutely not in this case. Beji Sari is as beautiful if not more so as the online pictures. The pool was our saving grace in the heat and to have this place all to ourselves was a plus. Our friends stayed upstairs and we were down. Either location was luxurious and we were all happy with our suites. Wayan's breakfasts were amazing and a wonderful way to start our day. Our hosts Ketut & Wayan were the perfect compliment to the villa. They seemed to know what we needed or wanted at any given moment. From picking us up at the airport or the daily trips to Ubud they were cheerful and accommodating. If they couldn't do it themselves they found other people who were equally as helpful. By the end of our stay we had three new friends (our driver ,Wayan, was a favourite as well) so thank you Wayan, Ketut & Wayan for making this the most memorable of experiences. I hope I can return to my Shangri-La soon!
Response from the owner, Beji Sari - 11/07/2012
Thanks, Gretchen. Very happy you found a place at Beji Sari to keep cool in what surely feels like a tropical hothouse to a Canadian :) And thanks also for highlighting the real stars at Beji Sari, Ketut & Wayan. We all hope you can return, too. Cheers, Kevin
