Our villa has had a minimal impact on the traditions of Bali. We did not destroy rice land to build and we have created a space that is self cooling, rarely needing the use of the air conditioners. We source eco materials and organic food whenever possible.
Because the villa is new and perfectly clean and in parts made from bamboo we cannot accept smokers. We do not wear shoes indoors and whenever possible we use organic cleaning materials....Read more

Additional Location Information
Your villa is situated in a quiet rural location in a traditional village within a short ( circa 20 mins) walking distance to Ubud or 10 mins by car or scooter. Half of that walk is through charming paths and lanes without cars that connect you to the 'real' Bali. There are a number of great cafes in the immediate area including Cafe Vespa , Kopi Desa, Flower Cafe and Alchemey - all have great reviews on trip adviser. In fact many people come from Ubud to find these ' insider' Cafes. The Green School is a 20 min drive away to the south. The area has long been famous for nature, bird-watching, art, spirituality and yoga. It is still 'the real Bali' untouched by over-development and is extremely peaceful and quiet at night as it is away from the hustle and bustle of the town. You can park a scooter or car in your own private garage that comes with the villa.
We've been coming to Bali for years and we think it's the most perfect location.

The host family had prepared the place for us perfectly. We got a full guidance over the surroundings and places to go. All cool cafés are just around the corner :-)
The accomondation is simply beautiful with a view to the rice fields directly from the living room (which is a terrace in fact) and from the pool - fabulous. The place has a modern, luxurous bathrooms and a full equipped kitchen. The beds in those two bedrooms are very good as well.

We stayed in Villa Secret for the entire summer, for 2.5 months (June - August) and would recommend this place for anyone thinking about coming to Bali. The villa was exactly as we saw from the pictures at the website, without the addition of the new bamboo treehouse and upcoming bamboo meditation area. The place has a very clean beautiful design with a good flow and minimal amount of furniture, giving you a nice feng shui experience that you expect from Bali. Dealing with the owners, Garry and Sanna was a great experience, as they’re completely straightforward with excellent communication skills and are all about making sure we had a great stay.
The staff at Villa Secret took care of everything and made our trip completely care-free, leaving us with full-time on our hands to do whatever we pleased. Their unspoken mantra is to bend over backwards to make sure that you are exceedingly happy. Wayan provided cleaning everyday in an artfully almost invisible way and also performed babysitting for our two kids when we needed it. Sue would would pick up fresh fruit of papayas, watermelon, bananas, mangos and coconuts for us daily and cook excellent, healthy evening meals for us during the week. This was completely based around our schedule and desire to do breakfast and lunch by ourself, but you could dial-up the service level to whatever you want. If you get tired and want to stay in, which we did, they are able to pickup and deliver from some of the great restaurants nearby.
If you’re looking for the hustle and bustle and traffic and loads of tourists that one comes to know from being in Ubud, especially since the Eat Pray Love wave hit, this is not the place for you. We were looking for something that was strategically close enough to walk to Ubud, but wanted to have a more peaceful and quiet vacation. With that requirement, we found our perfect place here. Villa Secret is located right outside the quiet village of Penestanan. There are a handful of excellent local restaurants within a short five to fifteen minute walk that gave us everything we were looking for: Cafe Vespa (cafe variety), Banana Leaf (Indian), Kopi Desa (Indonesian), Yellow Flower (organic), Alchemy (raw), Sari Organic (vegetarian), and Saraswati (Indian) to name a few. If we desired to hit some of Ubud’s best restaurants such as Mozaic or Bridges of greater walking distance, our house manager and driver Yudi would take us there. As an add-on taxi service (you pay-per-trip or a fixed rate for the day/week/stay), Yudi also serves as an excellent go-to-guy for helping you find your way around Ubud, and tour guide to show you all of the highlights of Bali. He also drove our youngest son to and from GreenCamp located at Green School, about a 20 to 25 minute drive away. Yudi speaks perfect english, has great communication skills and is someone who we trusted with our kids and to get things done.
If yoga is something you want to do in Ubud, Villa Secret is a ten minute walk to Intuitive Flow. This is one of the best yoga studios I have been to anywhere and was a giant bonus, being so good and within easy walking distance. It way exceeded my expectation of having a good yoga studio nearby. My wife and I took the morning two-hour classes five days a week and found it rejuvenating. We heard a lot of buzz about Yoga Barn, which is very large and has a lot of classes, but for us, this was a better fit. It has a more intimate environment with windows overlooking the tranquil green rice-fields of Bali, and the focus is more on the spiritual side of yoga. Yellow Flower Cafe is nearly next door and is a perfect place to enjoy a morning tea or fresh fruit plate right after a yoga class. The classes taught by owner Linda Madani are holistically focused on meditation, pranayama breathwork and ujjayi breath, and sanskrit mantras in addition to asanas, and not just about "getting a good sweat" and other western deformations of yoga. In addition to yoga, there are a handful of great spa's and places for great massages all within a ten to fifteen minute walk, which can also be arranged to come to the villa if you like.
The house comes with a safe that allows you to lock up your valuables and passports, that made us feel completely safe with our belongings.
In summary, this was everything we were hoping for in our summer trip to Bali. We are very discerning, discriminating travelers and expect high standards and this delivered on all levels: accommodation, service, location. A great time! If we were to do another summer in Ubud, would definitely stay here all over again.
