Family holidays in West Cork
Welcome to "Tigin Laibeach", the Muddy Cottage. Perched on a hillside, overlooking a beautiful sea inlet, this renovated barn dates back to at least 1838. Muddy Cottage has been a family holiday house since 1987. The townland of Ballincolla, Union Hall is the perfect place to enjoy rural and coastal delights of West Cork.
House description:
Entrance hall leading to sitting room/games room with open fire, living room (open plan dining, kitchen and sitting room with open fire, telephone, Broadband, WiFi), ground floor shower room with w.c. and utility room (washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, new 2017-18).
Stairs lead from the open plan living room to 2 double bedrooms with King size beds and a bathroom with w.c..
From the 2nd double bedroom there is access to the children's room built into the triangular roof space complete with magic doorway that prevents access to grown-ups! Sole use of house and gated garden, no other properties nearby.
Telephone (free calls to UK and Irish landlines). Flat screen TV - Irish terrestrial and Europe freesat.CD Player (with cable for iPod).
Cycle hire (including electric bikes) with delivery available from Cycle West Cork
End of stay clean, linens and towels included with €90 discount for 2 week bookings! Returning guests 5% discount!
There is no rubbish or recycle collection at this rural house. Recycling centres are located at Skibbereen and Clonakilty. The village of Union Hall has some recycling drop off by the playground.
Comment 2015: We had a really enjoyable and relaxing week at Muddy Cottage - we loved the cottage itself (really welcoming) and the location too. Hope to return and would definitely recommend to others.

“Lovely cottage”
We've stayed in many holiday rentals over the years, but this is the first time we've returned for a second visit. Our fond memories of Muddy cottage were proven right - it's such a cheerful, comfortable house with just about every utensil and facility you could possibly wish for, as well as breathtaking views all round. The location is perfect for exploring west Cork, and there's so many places to visit that you're spoiled for choice. If you don't mind a steep 2k walk, I'd recommend the woodland walk at Knockomagh woods overlooking Loch Hyne, with stunning views at the top. Also recommended (again, with steep walks) is Mizen head, as well as Barleycove beach. Enjoy!
