The Ivy Lettings Guide to Chelsea's Rich History
For those who like to look beneath the surface to the layers of layers of London history, which have built up over the centuries, Chelsea is a wonderful area to explore. Discover Crosby Hall, on Cheyne Walk, which was moved brick by brick from its original location in Bishopsgate, Thomas More’s house and an eternal monument to the ‘man for all seasons’; wander a little further down to what was once Henry VIII’s manor house (19 – 26 Cheyne Walk) and drink in the echoes of its old residents, from Katherine Parr (to whom Henry gave the house as a wedding present) to the tragic Lady Jane Grey, the nine – day Queen.
Chelsea has always been synonymous with wealth and royalty, ever since Henry VIII and his six successive wives haunted its enclaves, not to mention Thomas More, whose home in Cheyne Walk stands to this day. The King’s Road weaves its way through the area, carrying with it an aura of luxury and sophistication. However, despite its reputation for all that is chic and debonair, it still rings with the echoes of its Bohemian past, dispelling all odours of stuffiness. For centuries home to myriad artists – many of the pre-Raphaelites, Turner, the satirist Swift, and historian Carlyle spent their lives here in Chelsea – it was more recently the roosting place for Swinging Londoners, and a decade later, the birth place of punk. The famous Chelsea Art School is still a mecca for aspiring young artists, and lends the area intellectual glamour, whilst the surprising mixture of traditional and esoteric bars and clubs attracts London’s Bright Young Things – Chelsea is still very much up for the party!

“Chelsea Vacation Rental - March 17th - 22nd, 2013”

We thoroughly enjoyed the Hollywood Road flat. Two spacious bedrooms, great bathroom, nice kitchen and spacious living room. The entire unit was decorated with great care and taste. Very close to several really good restaurants, (Brinkley's is across the street and one of the best in London - very good value). 15 minute walk to Earl's Court Tube Station and 2 minute walk to bus stop on Fulham Road which takes you into either Kensington/Knightsbrige or Trafalgar Square, both highly sought after locations for shopping, dining and touring. We would definitely go back. The location is not in arkansas, USa but London, England, and Chelsea is a great location.

Across the pond in an enchanting little neighborhood is the Hollywood Road flat. We were fortunate enough to have recently spent 2 weeks in this nice little flat. The location was perfect, as it is conveniently located in close proximity to a variety of very good restaurants, gourmet food stores, bakeries, grocery stores and other shops. Public transportation was easily accessible; bus stops were located within a couple of blocks (in any direction), while West Brompton and Earls Court Tube stations were within an easy 10-15 minute walk. The flat was comfortably furnished (especially noteworthy were the comfortable beds with the high quality bed linens), with an adequately equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. We found the terrace to be a wonderful place to relax after long days of sightseeing. I must point out that while the flat is located directly across the street from a popular pub and directly over two (side by side) restaurants, we were never bothered by noise. Many thanks to the delightful Ivy Lettings agent, Kate, for providing outstanding support during all the months of planning for this vacation, as well as during our stay; it was such a comfort to know that she was there for us. If I ever return to London I will definitely contact Ivy Lettings for accommodations. Guy, you run a top notch agency!

“Great London base”

A great London base with fantastic support from Kate. Pleased with the recommended cab connection that was waiting even though our flight was 45 mins early.
Really good transport options, particularly the bus routes which meant traveling with a small child was very easy.
We were very grateful for the support with babysitters even at short notice. The flat is well set up - small second room but fine for us. A nice local high street provides good supplies.
We stayed in the flat for two weeks and would recommend

We arrived late in the evening, and Guy was there waiting for us with the key and to show us around. The flat is newly renovated, very clean and when we had trouble with the hot water system, it was fixed immediately. It is in a great situation for buses and the tube and within walking distance to major shopping streets. The second bedroom is very small and it is difficult to get around the bed. Could it possibly be turned sideways? We can thoroughly recommend Ivy lettings and stayin in the flat in Hollywood Road.

From the very first contact with Ivy Lettings agent, Guy, and the subsequent many conversations with him spent discussing the location and flat which would best suit us, our experience with Ivy Lettings was extremely positive. Guy was professional, helpful, and ever patient as I tried to decide which of the many properties to chose. As it turned out, the flat we rented on Hollywood Road was absolutely perfect for our stay. It was clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished. It had all the conveniences of home and I quickly felt like I had always lived there. It was conveniently located, affording us with close proximity to shops, cafes, restaurants, gourmet food stores, and public transportation. It's hard to find anything negative to say about our stay. I will certainly use Ivy Lettings again if I am fortunate enough to be planning another stay in London.
“Perfect positon, beautiful decor and outstanding service”

Ivy Lettings not only found us the perfect apartment at extremely short notice but their attention to detail and the care they take in servicing their clients is outstanding. They listen carefully to your requirements and really understand your needs. They only needed to show us the one property because they got it right the first time. The apartment we rented from Ivy Lettings was absolutely perfect in every detail, great and convenient location, beautifully decorated, fresh, spotlessly clean, new designer bathroom and kitchen and they even put basics in the fridge. Their properties are great and the service unbeatable. And staying in a beautiful apartment with your own space and your own cooking and dining facilities is so much better than even a luxury hotel. We have recommended their service to everyone we know who is travelling to London and we will continue to use their services everytime we are there. We travel a lot in Europe and a service like this is invaluable, especially in London.
