Luxury penthouse with an expansive terrace from which to enjoy Roman life "al fresco".
Located in the upscale Prati neighborhood, an area along the western side of the Tiber River, with graceful buildings it is much coveted by Romans as one of the most livable historic center locations. It is convenient to the major sites, walkable to shops, cafes, restaurants and public transportation.
Prati has much appeal; it's a five minute walk to Via Cola di Rienzo which has some of the best shopping in Rome and is lined with cafes and restaurants. The neighborhood was developed in the late 1800s and early 1900s with wide, tree-lined streets reminiscent of the boulevards of Paris. Romans and visitors appreciate the proximity to the popular historical center while being able to escape the crowds in the narrow streets.
The apartment is at the top is a well maintained seven-story building from the 1800's. Enter the lobby and there is a very small elevator up a few steps.
The apartment has one bedroom and one-and-a-half bathrooms.
A small foyer opens to a long attractive hallway with a trio of windows dressed in elegant silk drapes. Because the apartment is top floor with windows on both sides it is bright and pleasant year round. At the end of the hall is the living room with vaulted ceiliings, a fireplace [non-working], two sofas, dining table and chairs and and glass doors that open to the terrace. One of the sofas converts to a queen size sofa bed, the other into a single sofa bed. The apartment is decorated with taste and style, with a successful blend of family heirloom antiques with modern pieces such as the glass dining table. Handsome wall sconces, interesting decorative curios from the owner's global travels and tasteful artwork are the icing on the cake...and we haven't even started to talk about the terrace.
Up two steps to the terrace where you can enjoy the best of Rome from this outdoor retreat. A view of the terrace is enjoyed from the living room, the kitchen and the bedroom. Life under the Roman skies will be yours, whether it's enjoy meals outdoors at the patio table or lounging on the recliners while you read your book or nap. What better way to enjoy "La Dolce Vita".
The kitchen is modern and fun with a jolt of vivid red and with doors to terrace. Cabinets and appliances line one wall with refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, stove, oven, microwave. It is fully furnished with pots, pans, dishes.
The living room and kitchen both have doors so the living room can be closed off for privacy.
Off the hallway is a half-bath with toilet and sink.
The bedroom has a queen size bed, antique bureau, night tables with lamps, a wall of closets and a pleasant large window to the terrace. The master bathroom is en suite with marble finishes, sink with good countertop space, toilet, bidet and bathtub with shower over....Read more

I had the very good fortune of fulfilling a long-held desire of spending 3 months in Italy. Choosing The Fresco apartment made this experience my dream come true! I came to think of it and love it as my very own home. The apartment looks just like pictures on the website, which doesn't even show the very large walk-in closet, a rarity in Italian apartments. It did not disappoint! The greeter, Siviglia, is not only delightful but also efficient, punctual, knowledgeable, and most importantly always available for any questions you may have. Rocco, the driver, was also punctual and highly professional, and several friends who came to visit were also very pleased with his car service.
The Fresco is nicely situated in a quiet, residential neighborhood close to the Vatican and Castle St. Angelo. If you like to walk, you can see Rome's most famous landmarks within 20 or 30 minutes. If not, there are many buses and a metro in the area. The neighborhood abounds with restaurants, and it would be difficult for me to pick a favorite. However, I do recommend Il Matriciano on Via Dei Gracchi for many dishes, including the typically Roman Cacio e Pepe.
Last but not least is the experience with Italy Perfect. They provided a wealth of useful information, and even emailed a reminder to push the clocks back, since this happens a week earlier in Italy than in the U.S. I would use this agency again in a heartbeat and would recommend them to any of my friends. If you are lucky enough to stay at the Fresco Apartment, I know you will absolutely love it.
Thank you so much, Ina. It was a pleasure to help your dream come true. Thank you for the restaurant recommendation and kind words for the whole team! The Italy Perfect Team

What a wonderful apartment!!! Gorgeous furnishings, a beautiful veranda, a/c & an elevator, a large bed, a nice neighborhood, and a gracious owner. Absolutely heaven!!! We loved the easy walk to the Vatican and the good restaurants and variety of shopping in the area. Mama's RistroBistro (despite the name) was wonderful, and the tavern connected to Quarto was great! Enjoy your stay!!! Read more

Fresco was perfect!
I could not ask more for the apartment or the location. Beautiful apartment with a wonderful outside terrace. We had every breakfast and many dinners on the terrace. I must say that the residents of the building were friendly ( indeed, all Italians are welcoming and friendly). I would recommend the Department Store "Coin" only a few blocks away. There is an upscale grocery area downstairs. One women in particular spoke exceptional English and helped to point us to the exquisite cheeses and meats. Many of our meals we made from Coin and then enjoyed during the morning and evenings on the terrace. One evening we were able to see some fireworks on St Peter and St Paul Day over the rooftop and on another on the rooftop catty corner a private party with a rather nice musical group. There are actually some nice shops along Via Ottavio and Via Cola de Rienzo only a few block from the apartment. My wife is usually fixated on buying for her children and grandchildren was actually buying for herself. The Vatican is very close (5 to 10 minutes). If you like to walk the Spanish Steps are 20 minutes by foot (of course it takes much longer because one must shop ) and the the Coliseum probably 45 minutes by foot (we took a cab so we could shop along the way back). You have to visit Castel Sant'Angelo only a few minute away. My wife and I - our son and daughter loved our stay. Please check with me before you make reservations in case I want to be there on those dates. I am sure we will return. Grazie Fresco. Grazie Italy Perfect Read more

"Fresco was Wonderful"

We stayed at Fresco apartment during a recent two-week trip to Rome, and were very happy with both the accommodation and the location. The greeter was extremely helpful, showing us how to use everything from the elevator to the dishwasher, and following up to make sure that everything was OK. She also provided contact information. While we didn't need to use it during our stay, it was nice to know that there was someone we could call in case we had any problems. The apartment itself is roomy, comfortable and attractive, and the terrace is wonderful - like having your own small garden above the streets of Rome. There is even a partial view of the dome of Saint Peter's. Amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants and shops are nearby, as is a stop for the number 40 bus. We found this to be a very useful route, with stops close to many of Rome's most popular sights. We would definitely stay at Fresco apartment again if we returned to Rome. Teddy and Robin Read more

Ok, I really don't want anyone else to find this gem so my husband and I can have it all to ourselves, but that would just be wrong, so I must say it is the most amazing place I have ever stayed. The accomodations were perfect for the two of us. Our greeter, as well as Pat and Lisa were great and the entire stay went smoothly. We will be back and thank you again italy Perfect! Buena sera. I stayed in this apartment for about a week. Upon arrival we had a greeter meet us just as we arrived, she showed us how everything in the apartment worked. ( dishwasher, TV, washing machine etc). The apartment is a top floor apartment which allows for a nice big balcony. This was nice for breakfast in the morning and to just hang out on.
The owner and his associates were even so kind to search for and return my wallet all the way to Canada. They provided a safe place for travel, and gave us a booklet of places to eat and see which was very helpful.
Overall very good service and a nice apartment! Read more
Thank you so much. So glad your greeter was able to find your wallet and send it to you.

The apartment is very comfortable with nice furnishings and decorative details We had wonderful weather and were able to utilize the spacious deck for 1) drying clothes and 2) enjoying a glass of wine in the evenings. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is large and well equipped with quality linens. The second bathroom is a very nice touch. The closet in the bedroom is huge and provided more storage room than we needed. The location was wonderful...there is a grocery store a couple of blocks away and many wonderful shops, including a deli that had fantastic "take away" items for meals in the apartment. We enjoyed several lunches at the little restaurant nearby, Ristorante Pizzeria La Locanda,. They have the best pizza crust, pastas, and meat dishes with friendly and attentive service! We were about a thousand feet from the Vatican and walking almost everywhere was no problem. Tips The washer was small but worked well. We recommend that visitors to this apartment bring a travel clothesline or two as we did to string on the deck to dry clothes. Yes, we would definitely recommend Italy Perfect to friends and have already done so. The driver recommended by Italy Perfect, Rocco, was great. He picked us up on time at the airport and drove us to our accommodations and then to the train station when we were going to Florence. Read more
Thank you, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and the high quality of the Fresco apartment. There is a collapsable drying rack next to the washing machine, so sorry you didn't see it. Regards, The Italy Perfect Team.

As other reviewers have stated, this apartment is spacious, beautiful and the terrace is fantastic! The washing machine is very convenient; it makes packing light so much simpler. Finding the building and meeting up with our greeter went smoothly and, between her English and my basic Italian, we had no problems communicating. The apartment is located in a quiet area near the Vatican with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I highly recommend Ristorante arlù on Borgo Pio; family-owned, cozy atmosphere and wonderful homemade pasta. Read more
