A quiet location with fantastic views, near beach

Finca Higueron is not a dream it's reality. It's the perfect location to enjoy all the pleasures of a beach holiday, along with private, relaxing accommodation in quiet open countryside with wonderful panoramic views.

Finca Higueron is situated on the Costa de la Luz, Spain’s southern Atlantic coast, halfway between Tarifa and Cadiz. Our objective is provide our clients with a 'get away from it all' theme; yet at the same time be close to wonderful beaches and fifteen minutes from the white Moorish village of Vejer de la frontera and ten minutes from Conil.

Positioned on top of a hill, 190 meters above sea level, the finca has spectacular ...Read more

Additional Location Information

In our opinion, the beaches of the Costa de la Luz are the best in Europe. The sand is golden, the Atlantic Ocean is clean and all the long wide beaches have a gentle incline to the sea, making them safe, quiet and beautiful. Unlike many areas of Spain, the beachfront has not been developed and invariably the backdrop is either the undulating countryside or small villages and towns made up of one or two storey buildings. From the beaches at Tarifa to Cadiz there is something for everyone. In the height of summer, most beaches have life guards and beach bars where you can drink and eat all day and night.
The Roman ruins of Bologna face south to Africa, to the west a huge sand-dune is at the end of the beach.
Looking from Finca Higueron, 6KM away is the long quiet beach of El Palmar. In the summer the few beach bars provide refreshments, but having a picnic on the beach is just as enjoyable.
Looking north to Zahora from Trafalgar lighthouse, the beach is so spacious, even in August it is never crowded.
Conil is only ten minutes from Finca Higueron and the beach is an ideal venue to have some fun and entertainment. In the summer months, as well as chiringutios, they have bouncy castles, a fun fair, the Friday market and radio road shows!
If you want a cove where there is a minimum tide, just north of the fishing port of Conil there are three coves that are accessed by steep stairways down the cliff face. They tend to be popular in the height of the summer, but they are great for snorkelling and there is an attendant who looks after the cars.
Going further north, towards Cadiz, in the height of the summer, the beaches become more crowded with Spanish holiday makers. Playa Victoria is the main beach of the city of Cadiz and in August it becomes crowded. But it is very pleasant having a drink or snack at a chiringutio while watching the crowds having fun.

We had a fantastic time at Finca Higueron. It normally takes me at least a week to wind down, but here I was relaxed instantly. The welcome is warm, the accommodation spotless and fully appointed. The surrounding area is unspoilt and ripe for exploration. Beaches and local restaurants are truly excellent You never tire of the views from Finca Higueron and watching the sunset whilst sipping a glass of wine is one of life's real pleasure.
We wish to thank you for helping to make our holiday most pleasurable. Not only was the cottage the best self catering accommodation we have ever experienced, the whole package you offer is 2nd to none. The 'personal touch' made our anniversary unforgettable. The afternoon at Montenmedio and then the evening at Venta Rufino were highlights, but just being at Finca Higueron 'did it for us!'.
During our stay as well as the beautiful weather, we enjoyed the peaceful, tranquil settings with superb panoramic views. Also, we enjoyed the sandy, virtually empty sand beaches that are within easy reach. We got a great deal of pleasure visiting Cadiz, the Roman ruins and the good cheap local eateries. Our holiday could have only been better if we had stayed longer,
We loved the peaceful and tranquil location, the warmth of your welcome along with the helpful advice about the area. We were impressed with the quality of the accommodation and the discretion of our hosts. You struck just the right balance between privacy and friendliness.

Although the southern Costa de la Luz is quiet and unspoilt by tourism, there are a number of white Moorish Spanish towns, with churches, monuments and narrow streets waiting to be explored. Within half an hour from Finca Higueron, there is Vejer, Conil, Medina Sidonia, Benalup and Barbate.
Also, nearby are historic sites, including the 16 acres of Roman ruins fronting the beach at Bolonia, the little know Palomo Cortija, where pigeons were bred for the Spanish galleons, as well as an old grain water mill that is still demonstrated by local villagers. Otherwise, have a picnic and take a walk through the pine forest near Barbate.
There are many sporting activities, including horse riding, hang gliding from the hill in Vejer, scuba diving, surfing, wind surfing and para surfing. For the young, less than an hour away a large aqua-park is open in the summer. Also, through the summer months each town takes it in turns to have either a fair and /or a bull run through its streets.
A popular day out is to drive 40 minutes to the southern most town in Europe, Tarifa, and go on a whale and dolphin watching boat trip. If you don't see any of the many different breeds of these mammals, you can take the trip again, at no cost. Afterwards take lunch or tapas in one of the restaurants or bars that are found in the old town. On your return, take a drive through the Parque de los alcornocales, with its spectacular views, cork trees and pigs wandering along the road side.
All the beaches along the coast are of golden sand and are tremendous for walking, or taking a meal or drink while the sun sets to the west. Close by, in Vejer, there are a number of restaurants providing a wide variety of choice. In La Muela there is a very popular, good value for money, Italian restaurant and venta Rufino's where excellent local food is prepared at a reasonable price in a wonderful atmosphere.
Nearby, Cadiz is a working city, steeped in history and a visit to the local food market is exhilarating. An hour away Jerez is the capital of Sherry making. Two hours away, Seville is famous for its tapas and flamenco, where a ride on a horse drawn carriage is interesting and fun.
