Tenuta Villa Oleandro

La Casa Lavanda is a charming, independent, spacious and exceedingly comfortable, 1 bedroom villa-apartment, with a beautiful private pool (shared with owners), attached to the imposing and elegant owner-occupied Villa Oleandro. Approached through grand iron gates and stone wall and tree lined sweeping drive, the imposing villa gives a more than promising first impression. In an idyllic setting, perched half way up a hillside, nestled in a valley, in our olive grove among groves, we offer the discerning traveller a restful haven of privacy, tranquillity, and relaxation hard to come by in this modern day world.

Additional Location Information

Although "away from it all" the rest of the world is not so far from Villa Oleandro. The beach at Calenella is just 5 minutes down the road and Vico del Gargano is a mere 10 minutes drive away. Here the fresh fruit and vegetable market is a marvel of choice and colour and the indoor fresh fish market a revelation and education. The excellent local butchers, bakers and mini supermarkets complete the food supply options and then, of course, there are numerous pizzerias and restaurants in which to savour the local cuisine. San Menaio 15 mins, Rodi and Peschici 20 mins and Vieste 30 mins offer a further plethora of choices.

The Gargano in Puglia, known as the spur of Italy, is a little known region that is packed full of marvels, natural and manmade. A beautiful rugged unspoilt coastline of bays and inlets, beaches and caves, sea stacks and arches, carved and sculpted by the elements; ancient villages with evocative historic town centres and so many pretty churches; mountains, forests, lakes, marshlands and the Tremiti Islands, habitat for over 35% of all species of flora and fauna present in the whole of Italy, including a record number of orchid species. All under the protective umbrella of the Gargano National Park.

Once a remote place, the Gargano has amazingly managed to maintain its special charm, characteristics, traditions, crafts and unique dialects. Many Festas are held in honour of some of the many saints special to the local people. It’s well worth trying to fit one of these festivals into your visit to the Gargano, if only for the spectacular ear-popping fireworks display held at the end of each Festa.
