Welcome to the Elemental Guest Suite/Room, where you can come and experience the Esquimalt Lagoon - a migratory bird sanctuary and popular recreational destination.
The Elemental Guest Suite is an upper level private guest room/suite including a private 5 pce ensuite, with touches of luxury for less. With it's own entrance, come and go as you please.
It is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the Municipality of Colwood, and backs onto some of the most spectacular urban forest in North America. Our unique location offers endless opportunities for relaxation, discovery and enjoyment. A 15-minute walk, for example, can take you to nearby Coburg Peninsula known locally as Esquimalt Lagoon beach with views of the majestic Olympic Mountains and even Mount Baker. Spend the day lounging on the beach or exploring the two-kilometres of shoreline. While there, you can cross over to the lagoon side and feed the ducks and swans, or continue on with a leisurely stroll along the many local walking and hiking trails that wind their way among some of the most beautiful old growth forest in the region. If you've an artistic bent, you can easily lose yourself for an hour or more at the Coast Collective Art Gallery just a stone's throw from the suite -- and maybe even drop in for a class! For the history buff, you may be interested in visiting nearby Fort Rodd Hill / Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites and museums. These structures date from the 1860s, and were built by the British as part of the coastal defence system back before Vancouver Island was even a part of Canada.
If that's a bit too adventurous for you, historic Hatley Castle and gardens might well be worth a visit. Nestled on the adjoining grounds of Royal Roads University, it was designed by renowned architect Samuel Maclure and built for the Dunsmuirs in 1908 -- and was considered as a possible residence for the Royal Family during the outbreak of World War II! Walk to the castle via Royal Roads trails- don't forget to visit the museum below. Bring your camera for the roaming peacocks in the gardens. All this, and you still haven't even left the lagoon area!
Upon arriving for your stay you will enter the side garden gate and find an oasis before you. Stroll past the guest hot tub nestled under the open air gazebo and ascend to the upper level to your own deck lounging area, complete with outdoor bistro table and chairs, where you will find forested views and seasonal peek-a-boo ocean glimpses. The entrance to your private guest suite is by way of a set of garden doors which, on warm days, can both be opened to extend the suite right out onto the deck. A true West coast feel!Once inside, find everything you need to enjoy your stay.
Offering so much more than a cold hotel room, snuggle into your romantic four-poster queen sized Sealy Posturepedic bed with it's plush duvet and quality linens – it even has a soft throw to cuddle up with – all adding to your home away from home feel. An executive style desk has views overlooking the rear gardens for those on working vacations. Even internet surfing has a lovely feel- WIFI included.
Explore further in and find a large walk in closet and that will fit more than you could possibly pack. Rounding out your guest suite/room, is your spacious 5 piece bathroom with plenty of natural light flowing in from the skylight above. Formerly the master suite of the home, it is original with it's dual sinks and separate shower. Maybe even plan for a long soak in the large garden tub under the window. Light the candles and lean back and feel the tension dissolve. Ahhh....For light snack preparation, your suite/room is equipped with many extras, a kitchen is not one of them. ( Please see our full sized 700 sq ft Elemental Garden Suite for a kitchen and more..)
The Elemental Guest suite does come equipped such amenities as a microwave, toaster, small fridge, full sized coffee maker, tea kettle and all the little things that make a difference. You'll find coffee, tea and some condiments along with light cutlery/ dishware. If wanting something a little more, a guest BBQ is available for your use year round just down the stairs among the gardens. Enjoy a meal on the patio, on the deck or in suite at your adorable bistro set. So much more than a cold hotel room. Lounge on the patios, admire the gardens and pet the kitties in the yard. You'll feel comfortable from the moment you open the gate.
The Elemental Guest Suite provides a lovely self catering home away from home. Your room and bath is yours to enjoy and is not an interior shared space - it is self catering. Special touches included in our larger full sized Elemental Garden Suite have not been overlooked. Right down to robes for the bath- or hot tub!
For larger parties and families travelling together, both the Elemental Guest Suite and Elemental Garden Suite- located at complete opposite ends of the residence and with the Garden suite on the main garden level with one step entry, may be booked together should the dates be available. A great way to stay close- yet still remain private.

best location to bike/ hike the Galloping Goose trail. -close to half way point between Victoria and Sooke on trail so either direction you go is golden! We went into Victoria and it was a wonderful easy ride (about 15 k each way) . Victoria is a great city to bike/walk in and this route does not require any "training" to be able to ride it.. This suite is so comfortable and private. The gardens and hot tub are perfect and you can walk/bike to the lagoon or better yet the ocean side and watch the sunset.. All positives. We will be returning.

We stayed in this beautiful place for three nights during our marriage anniversary. I must admit, we could not have stayed in any better place. This is a beautiful place which is very romantic, situated in a nice area of Victoria, amidst some beautiful walking trail through the forest and it comes with a large outdoor hot tub as well. Although it is a vacation rental and the owners stay in the same house, you have complete privacy with your own separate entrance. Angela has decorated the room beautifully and tastefully. Although there in no kitchen, the owners have provided with plenty of generous supply of some light ready-to- microwave breakfast, condiments, pops etc. to name a few. The bathroom is huge with a biiig tub and a separate shower. There are plenty of surprises scattered around which we never expected in a vacation rental. Overall the place is very clean, relaxing and comfortable.
Both Frank and angela are very friendly and they suggested some beautiful places to eat and hike/walk. Everyone must try the 'My Chosen Cafe", the food they do there are simply delicious. If you want to spend some time outside the Victoria Harbour, the East Sooke park and the Sooke Potholes park are two amazing places to be. There are some great hikes along the coast with fantastic views. The walk to the Hatley castle through the woods, which starts from just outside this property, is also worth doing. All of these recommendations came from angela.
All in all, we were very satified with our stay. It was probably one of the best, if not the best, place we ever stayed. We could not have spent our anniversary better. Will definitely be back again.

I recently stayed in the studio for my three week residency period at Royal Roads. The studio had everything that I could possibly need. The queen bed was very comfortable, bathroom so big with a large tub and everything I needed to make modest meals. There were nice little touches such as some food and snacks, an umbrella which I forgot but needed since I arrived during a big storm and even laundry services. I appreciated the 15 minute walk to and from campus each day, great way to get a bit of excercise when you are sitting in a classroom all day. And of course, an evening glass of wine in the hot tub!! That was such a perk:) This is an excellent place to stay just steps away from the Esquimalt Lagoon and the Royal Roads forest. I am sure I will be back. Thank you angela and Frank, it was wonderful!

We are locals to Victoria and needed a place to stay for a few days. Upon finding this place we were immediately at ease. Not only did we thoroughly enjoy the very well-put-together suite, but found it hard to leave.
Angela and Frank were very nice and made us feel incredibly welcomed.

We had such a fabulous stay in your super comfortable guest suite and loved all your special touches and so many amenities! It was just close enough to Victoria (20 min drive), and yet offered a quiet, spacious retreat for the two of us. We loved visiting the reserve and adjacent property with the art collective gallery and taking long walks at the beach just down the hill. Having a sunny deck and independent entrance plus your hot tub & beautifully landscaped yard was just delightful. thank you angela for making us feel so welcome & all your tips on local restaurants-like Bin 4. We will surely return!

The stay during my residency at royal roads was exactly as advertised and more. Angela and Frank were gracious hosts and did everything they could to make my stay comfortable. The pictures do not do the place justice as the studio is nice and the surroundings are stunning. I would advise this place for any royal roads student since its much nicer than res and the walk is only five minutes longer through an amazing forest. Again i cannot say enough good things, experience it for yourself
