Why Is Heathwood Better?
Why are our vacation rentals better than your standard house or condo for rent in Victoria?
Views Like No Other!
Take in the heavenly sights, with panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains of Washington. (See our photos)
Its Monumental: In 1990 The Olympic Park was declared a national monument, that's how amazing it is. And now you can visually experience it right from your own private patio.
While you're out on the patio, watch the skies light up with explosive colors every Saturday evening, compliments of the Butchart Gardens Summer firework show.
Your Patio Seems Like The Center Of The Universe.
When the fireworks end, a spectacular light show continues. Indulge in an evening outdoors with a glass of wine to enjoy, while gazing at the glowing stars that seem to dance in the sky for you.
Imagine waking up from a rejuvenating night's rest, enjoying your morning tea, while beholding the beauty of the valley and the awe-inspiring views of the Bay.
Enveloped In Charm:
From the moment you open the gate into your private Courtyard and enter the courtyard suite we know you will feel welcomed.
The luscious landscapes and calming colors of the gardens resemble something like a Garden of Eden, it's that special.

I cannot think of a thing that would have made our stay at Heathwood better. Jacqui and Ollie have put so much love into their place, the land, and the animals, that we also felt included in the embrace.
Then, let's talk about location. It is a beautiful and restful rural area that is close to Victoria, Butchart Gardens, old growth forest, ferries going to many different places (both Vancouver and the north and west part of the island included), and a fun seaside town.
Foodie? This is the land of wineries, fresh caught fish, roadside stands and a farmer's market. Heathwood itself has a wonderful grill, and a selection of oils, vinegars, spices, and more.
A special mention about the dogs: You can close the gate and shut them out if you want, but you would miss out on some very sweet dogs. Being dog lovers, we really enjoyed their company.
The gardens, as you can see from the pictures, are absolutely beautiful.
We were two couples, and had plenty of space. As I said, perfect for us in every way. Vancouver Island and Heathwood have moved to the top of our list of places we would like to return to.

This home was a wonderful retreat for our family. After a busy day site seeing, we were able to come "home" to a comfortable place. The setting was tranquil and so beautiful! Our hosts Jacqui and Ollie were gracious and welcoming. It is not often that you can find a place like this one...it is truly a place that will rejuvenate and provide you with rest and all the comforts of home. We can't wait to return! Thanks for a wonderful experience! :)

If you are looking for an elegant spot on the quite civilized Saanich Peninsula midway between Sidney and Victoria, the Courtyard Suite at Heathwood may just be the ticket. Private and beautifully furnished, spotless and tranquil, this lovely offering's charm is exceeded only by that of the delightful owners. Nearby Butchart Gardens is only an easy few minutes drive and definitely not to be missed. Both Victoria and Sidney are a pleasant 15 minutes or so from this stunning country estate. Treat yourself to an exceptional stay at the Courtyard Suite at Heathwood.

How wonderful to actually find something that is as wonderful, if not more so, than advertised. Our hosts were delightful, their home inviting and our stay memorable. The suite was spotlessly clean all the furniture comfortable, kitchen full of supplies easy to find and use, an ample amount of towels in each bathroom and the washer and dryer easy to use. The view was beautiful and having a patio front and back was nice. The privacy of the suite was great and two couples fit quite nicely. The drive to Victoria was short and easy. If you are looking for the perfect place to spend your vacation then courtyard suite at Heathwood estate is the place for you. This was an experience we will never forget!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Courtyard Suite at Heathwood. The suite is almost like a two bedroom condo attached to their house. But don't worry, they give you plenty of privacy, and you even have your own temperature control in several places. One bedroom, one full and roomy bath, a full kitchen, a living/dining room, and a little mudroom are on the first floor. The second floor (basement) is a single room with a small bathroom with a small shower, and a stacked washer/dryer. All in all, very spacious and very comfortable. There are also two private outdoor areas, a small patio and a small porch, but the weather prevented us from being able to take advantage of those.
The setting is extremely peaceful and comfortable, surrounded by horse fields, and the gardens at the Heathwood rival anything we saw at Butchart, albeit on a smaller scale.
The location was perfect for us. It's 5-10 minutes drive from Butchart Gardens, about the same (maybe 15?) from Sidney, and was closer to 20 or 30 to get to the heart of Victoria. Since our purpose this trip was to see gardens, especially take our time around Butchart, it was ideally situated. While there is a glimpse of Brentwood Bay and the mountains in the distance, it's not something you can really just sit and watch easily. It's an "over that way, through the trees, we see the water" view. But the view of the hills of the Mount Newton area was lovely, and I'm told at the right time of year, you can see the fireworks at Butchart.
Things to be aware of if you're looking to stay with them:
First, the dogs. They have a furry welcoming committee, who while well behaved, want to be with you if you're outside no matter where you are. (we loved them!)
Second, they do ask you to remove your shoes. (ok with us)
Third, if you want to wander the property, you need to be escorted. If you take them up on that escort, you'll learn why, and it's for a very good reason.
Hello Tammi and Janie, We had such a delightful time with both of you and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us in the Courtyard Suite at Heathwood. It was such a shame it was cloudy and overcast the entire time you were with us as that hindered your opportunity to see the Olympic Mountain Range. We do want to clarify that although we are happy that our guests enjoy our gardens and their private areas, our stables are off limits due to Insurance requirements. We know you will enjoy our Equine family while they are grazing in the fields. Our furry welcoming committee can be overly friendly. We do have them secured in the stable for your scheduled arrival, we introduce them to you when you are settled. Your private areas are gated and you are fully in control of when they visit. We look forward to your return visit.

From the moment you drive into Heathwood you feel at home. Every comfort has been thought of and provided with exquisite detail everywhere. So well located, we had easy access to everywhere. We will definitely be back! Having owned and operated a B&B; we can unequivocally say this is an amazing establishment. Our hosts were amazing. Thank you for providing such a lovely home away from home.

“Luxury at its best.”

My friend and I were fortunate enough to learn about this property thru a friend. Lucky us, we were the first to stay at Heathwood.
Upon our arrival we found all the ingredients to whip up a light meal in the fridge, how very thoughtful of the Knopp's. This kitchen has everything in it you could hope for. The property here is absolutely beautiful. There are 2 bedrooms that are separated for privacy and each has a bathroom. What luxury. We were very fortunate with the weather so we took full advantage of the BBQ and were able to eat on the front patio, a very picturesque spot.
I loved this property so much I came back with my partner a couple of months later. We had candle light dinners on the front patio, in the dinning room and had coffee every morning on the little patio listening to the horses snicker. What a magical time.
Brentwood Bay just down the road has several delightful restaurants along the water and a spa in the hotel there. Sydney is a delightful place with lots of little shops to peruse and several delightful restaurants as well. You will not be disappointed if you choose this property. We will definitely be back.
