Additional Location Information

Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo, is a small village on a hilltop surrounded by vineyeards and olive groves. It sits just below the Montalbano hill that used to be the hunting reserve to the Medici family.
It has a museum dedicated the life, studies and works of Leonardo and the Da Vinci family home which has been recently refurbished and hosts an exibition of digital reproductions of Leonardo's most famous paintings.
Vinci is the perfect base to visit all the main cities of art: Florence, Pisa, Siena and Lucca are easy to reach either by car or by train. San Gimignano, Volterra, Certaldo and Montecatini will also offer alternative itineraries for you to explore.
If you appreciate the finer things in life this area of Tuscany has to offer delicious specialities throughout the year: extra virgin olive oil, Chianti wine, Empoli arichokes, San Miniato truffles to name but a few, but also brigidini from Lamporecchio, wafers from Montecatini and the fine chocolate made by local master chocolatiers.
