Protected by an easily accessible reef teeming with tropical fish, the waters of Mahoe Bay are free of boats and offer everyone an ideal swimming and snorkeling area. Additional photos and a wealth of information on the villa and the island is available at the villa's web site.
Built with families in mind Adagio Villa features a "kid safe" environment with easy viewing of the pool area from the main patio areas. The setting of several bedrooms is designed to ensure that young children are only able to reach the outdoors past or through parent bedrooms if locks are set. Extensive use of terracing and planters enhances the overall safety of the villa grounds and pool area. Despite the design however the owners will not accept responsibility for any injury to guests due to their own behavior.
The Great Room and three of the five master bedrooms are accessible from the driveway and parking pad area by ramped walkways at entrance level. With no steep stairs to climb, the layout ensures that guests of all ages and all degrees of physical condition may enjoy most of the features of Adagio Villa. Extended families with elderly parents or physically disabled members will find adagio particularly appealing.
Extensive covered patio areas offer clear views of the pool, pool deck and the magnificent view while providing protection from the beaming Caribbean sun. Cool and constant breezes make BVI the ideal "Endless Summer" setting for a vacation no matter what time of year. Patio fans are available to add to the cooling breezes.
We designed Adagio as two spacious pavilions separated by a very private sun deck and pool. The design incorporates a free flow of space for large groups as well as being able to ensure privacy for all guests.
Adagio's three-level main pavilion houses the expansive Great Room, graced by a beautiful and extremely well equipped gourmet kitchen and two dining areas, one inside and one under the covered deck. To the left looking toward the sea is another covered area with a wet bar and gas grill just outside. The Great Room is also the gathering place for friends and family, with stylish but comfortable sofas and chairs placed around a media center filled with DVD and VHS movies, CDs and games. Sliding glass doors open to a wide covered veranda set for outdoor dining or family games and relaxation; this looks out to the beach below and to the 180 degree blue sea vistas.
A staircase from the Great Room curves up to an air-conditioned king master bedroom/bath ensuite with a tropical glass-block shower and its own private veranda. A second identical air-conditioned king suite with a private verandah is just off the Great Room, and below, on the lower level accessed by a walkway around the pool deck, is a very large air-conditioned double-twin bedroom and bath ensuite with another private veranda; this suite may also be made up as a king suite with advance notice.
Across the coral stone tiled pool deck is Adagio's second air-conditioned pavilion offering the perfect set-up for families with small children - a king bedroom with ensuite with a set of connecting doors into the adjoining double-twin (or king) suite - roomy and convenient, yet also very private. This pavilion is handicapped accessible; a ramp provides easy access up to the Great Room and main veranda areas.
Adagio is beautifully furnished in the Hemingway island style, bright tropical fabrics and lovely artwork, and surrounded by flowering gardens and waving palms. It's well designed to provide generous space for togetherness, and areas throughout for private time as well. Just like its musical name, Adagio provides an island "slow tempo" in a luxurious, serene and well-equipped setting.
Through Cable and Wireless BVI, the local telephone company, Adagio Villa is WiFi Internet accessible. Reliable telephone services are supplied to provide guests who need to stay in touch with the office the tools they need. Guests can activate their own cell phone service through CCT boat phone (a refundable credit card deposit is required and arrangements can be made for immediate access upon arrival in the villa). To activate, call a number in North America and a CCT agent will come on the line and assign you a local cell phone number. Rates are relatively expensive at $4.00 per minute out going and $1.65 incoming in addition to a $5.00 charge on any day the phone is used.
"Thank you so much for the use of your beautiful villa. It is a spectacular home and setting, and we enjoyed it so much. We had some great times on the island, snorkelling and exploring various beaches, including Spring Bay, Savannah Bay, of course Mahoe, and Little Trunk and the Baths. We enjoyed dinner at Chez Bamboo, Fat Virgin, and your lovely deck. We sailed a cat at Bitter End, rented a 30 foot boat at Leverick and explored Norman Island, visited Willy T, and Little Dix. It was a wonderful time and the people we met were all lovely and so friendly. More to do next time, and Dean and I are definitely thinking about making more trips to VG as we approach the 'freedom 55' stage of life! We also stopped in San Juan for a couple days which we also enjoyed immensely. Enjoy your little piece of paradise - we can't wait to get back some day."
The Anderson's - Toronto - October 2009
"Love, Love, Love this place. Mahoe Bay is a lovely beach. We snorkeled at least two times a day and always saw something new and different. The house is perfect. The view from the deck made it hard to leave each day. Some days we didn't. Our first time to Virgin Gorda will not be our last."
Quarre and Young, Palo Alto, California - June 9 -19th, 2009"What an absolutely marvelous home. We truly enjoyed this bit of heaven on earth and look forward to returning year after year." The Hayes Family - November 2008 "You have succeeded in crating paradise in paradise! Life at Adagio could not have been more pleasant or enjoyable for me and my wife . . . and later on our daughter. We stayed long enough to fall in love with Virgin Gorda and its rich vista's and underwater marvels. "Your home is elegant and thoughtfully designed. The seascape from your patio is forever etched in our minds (and recorded on camera for screen savers) we enjoyed the constant breezes and numerous meals on the patio, and hoisted many toasts to you both as we watched the magnificent sunsets unfold behind George Dog." Charles and Carolyn Moyer - New Hope, Penn - June 2008 "Loved your beautiful Adagio! What a gorgeous setting here in Virgin Gorda. Thank you for a wonderful vacation and break from out cold winter." The Brookshire's and Herman's - Tyler Texas and St. Louis MO -March 9 - 16, 2008 "Everything was perfect - except we didn't stay longer! Thanks for a wonderful getaway" The Millars's - Rock Hill SCThe McCutheon's - Columbus SCThe Powell's - Columbus SC - March 2007 “This is an extraordinary house that left us with many unforgettable memories. Thanks for sharing it with us.” The Iwan Family - April, 2006 “Dear MacDonald Family; Adagio Villa is a very special and we thank you for sharing it with us. We were here from Texas and enjoying our 3rd trip to Mahoe Bay, and could not have had a more relaxing or beautiful vacation. This is a very warm and friendly place in which to enjoy family and friends in a beautiful setting.” The Gunn’s and the Wright’s - San Antonio, Texas March 2006 “We are leaving today to return home. Even though we live in Florida, this vacation has been Paradise on Earth. My niece was married this week and I just cannot imagine a more beautiful setting for such and event. Adagio represents just what it means “relaxed and Laid back”. As to the lack of cable or satellite I am with you – this is a place for families to re-connect and enjoy each others company with out the distractions of the outside world. Virgin Gorda is a great blend of seclusion and activities. We hope to return next year – your villa had all the comforts of home. It makes you feel like “its time to smell the roses and re-connect with yourself. Thanks for creating such a beautiful villa to share with our family.” Walker Family et al. – Tampa, Florida November, 2005 "Thanks for giving us a wonderful place to stay. This was our 5TH time we have rented a villa and this is by far our favorite. We appreciated the fact that the kitchen was so modern and well stocked. The villa is beautiful and of course our favorite spot for ‘limin’ was the balcony where we could enjoy the magnificent view.” The Bagnel’s, Wilson’s, McDaniel’s and Anderson’s – June, 2004 “Your house is beautiful, however I’ll miss getting up early every morning and going to Dunkin’ Donuts and I’ll miss going to McDonald’s for lunch and Taco Bell for dinner, I’ll miss all the traffic lights and the cars blowing their horns, I’ll miss cable TV and the Centralplex movies. I’ll miss the ocean at Long Island, NY; the water there is so much colder. I also miss the crowded beaches like Coney Island. So if you want to go to heaven without dying, I suggest you come here.” The Lennox’s – Youngstown, NY - April, 2003 “We had a great, great vacation. We are the Cornell’s and the Jessiman’s. I’m Schuyler. I will never forget this vacation. . . . I really like you house, it is wonderful! We will definitely come back; Clarkie and Cynthia are great cooks – the food they cook is delishish (sic). I like your house so much I want to get married here and have my honeymoon here. I am only 8 ½ so I have a long way to go before that will happen. Everyone loves the pool – it is so nice to have one on a hot, hot day. The snorkeling here is awesome. I saw at least 60 fish. You have such a great view of the ocean. Did you know that you have a growing banana tree in the back garden? We had a absolutely great time. Love Schuyler The Cornell’s and the Jessiman’s, Maryland - March 2003 “We all absolutely loved Adagio. The villa is decorated beautifully and there is absolutely everything here one could possibly need. The view is breath-taking from any balcony here. Love to return next year. Natale Family – Scotch Plains, NJ – March, 2003 “Your villa is wonderful! What a place to spend with family – the island is so inviting it mesmerizes you” Mike and Renee B – Butte Montana – January, 2003 "We shall return – Thank you so much for your little slice of heaven.” The Fitzpatrick’s – Kansas City – March, 2002TripAdvisor property ID 2478060...Read more
