Historical gem in Volcano, Amador County, Calif.

Our lovely home is listed in Volcano's historical walking tour as first built for Judge Peter Jonas and his family during the gold rush. Cozy couch and rocking chair face large picture windows (with privacy screens) and a wood burning stove. The custom built dining table and coffee table ...Read more

Start your day with the walking tour of Volcano at our home listed as the 1850's home of Judge Peter Jonas, stop by the Jug and Rose baking company for a coffee and sweet treat, visit the town cemetary, get supplies or lunch at the general store, (a step back in time) visit nearby Black Chasm cavern and Indian grinding rock state park and museum. In the evening treat yourself to a delicious meal and libation at the Volcano Union pub, right next door! or soon to be reopened St. George Hotel, two blocks away. Then in summer be sure to catch one of Volcano theater Company's productions in the outdoor ampitheater. The next day as you venture out you'll have many choices of things to see and do, some hightlights are...visit beautiful Sutter Creek and stroll through the shops, visit Monteverde store museum and Knights foundry. Jackson a few miles south has many wonderful antique stores and shops to explore too. Heading north on 49 you can visit Amador City with more shops and the wonderful Andre's Bakery for picnic supplies or lunch at Buffalo Chips or the Imperial Hotel. A bit further north and east of Plymouth is the beautiful Shenandoah Valley vineyards with award winning wines and one of the oldest winerys in California.
