This nationally registered historical home was built in the early 1800s and is a 35 minute scenic drive to downtown Charleston, Popular beaches and resorts, as well as many historical landmarks and parks. If you are looking for a place defined by natural beauty and Southern Charm, there is nothing closer to stepping back into history where times were simpler than the village of Rockville, South Carolina.

Getting around

If you bring your boat or kayaks you can put them in at the public boat landing 5 minutes down the road called Cherry Point. Red's Ice house and Kiawah are right around the corner. ( 10 minutes by boat, 45 by car.) Rockville is on Wadmalaw Island. Maybank highway takes you all the way from Rockville to John's island to James island. Downtown is a 30 minute drive, and you can visit the angel oak tree on the way. The nearest place to get groceries is Bi-lo on John's island (15 min drive) so make sure you stock up on the way to the house.

Interaction with guest

I live in North Charleston and am available if needed. I make trips out to the house on free weekends and during the week. I like to make sure I personally greet guests when they arrive if I can. I am also available by phone and email. I want to make sure guests get the full Rockville experience so I try to be as hands off as possible!

Response from the owner I appreciate your feedback as I am always working to improve. As the listing states, this is a personal family home in which we live in when it is not occupied by visiting guests. All of the mattresses are only a few months old and recently purchased. (You should have seen the ones we got rid of! They were from 1955) I'm thankful for your review because this home is not for everyone. As stated in the listing if you are looking for an immaculate 5 star resort, Kiawah and Seabrook have some wonderful homes. To all future travelers please be sure to read the description of the home to make sure it's a place for you! (My mom is coming to stay the week of our wedding and would absolutely kill me if her pair of slippers were not in her room) I will make sure to tell her that I am removing them as they are an inconvenience to guests. Hopefully she won't be too mad at me. I am thankful that she is allowing me to open the home for visitors. With a 200 year old house that has been nothing but a family home, there is always room for improvements and I am doing my best to preserve it and keep it a family home. Thank you again for your feedback and I wish you well!
