Cottage on the Beach, Romantic, Oahu North Shore Mokuleia (Licensed!)

Waialua cottage

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 4

“The sound of the waves, right outside your door, are like a lull” We had a "rough time" getting here (mechanical problems with the plane, canceled flight, etc.) but the cottage soothed our tired souls! We found the drum of the waves to be the best lullaby and the fresh air and abundant sunshine to renew our spirits. We appreciated the personal art on the walls and the large open space. For folks who enjoy cooking with local produce, the well stocked kitchen, the large number of pots/pans/utensils, and the full sized refrigerator are perfect. There was plenty of hot water in the shower (and good water pressure!), the furniture was comfortable (brought back memories of beach houses from our childhood), and the large counter surface in the "dressing room" was perfect for all of our "stuff". We used the outdoor patio table for several breakfasts and dinners, watched a neighbor vacationer fish from the sea wall, and took daily walks on the nearly deserted beach. There were many informative books in the cottage along with maps, Dvds, etc. We used the guide books but were too busy enjoying Oahu to need any other form of entertainment! Although we have traveled extensively in the past few years, this was our first trip to Hawaii. We have already recommended the cottage to family and friends - thank you, Peter, for sharing your wonderful home.

“Relaxing stay in Punalu'u” Our family stayed in condo #401, it was perfect and exceeded our expectations. The condo has everything you need and more. We had an incredible vacation. The condo has a gorgeous view of the ocean and a big, comfy balcony to sit on and enjoy the view! It's just a short walk across the lawn to the water. The condo itself is lovely and clean with a complete kitchen, not lacking anything a cook would need. We had a lot of meals in the condo and that helps too if you're on a special diet or just want to save on meals. The beds are very comfortable too! It's the perfect place for a family with kids to stay, everything you need is there, even a washer and dryer! Punalu'u is serene and beautiful. We plan on returning soon!

“Very enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful amongst the local people not in the rat race of touristy Waikiki.” We did not rent a car and used the local bus system to travel everywhere which was great but time consuming. The accommodation is at least an hour from Honolulu and Waikiki so travelling on a bus late at night is not ideal, however the bus does stop outside the condo complex. The condo facilities are comfortable with access to 2 pools, it is on the 3rd floor with stair access only which is hard with heavy luggage, however being higher up means there are sea views and the benefit of fresh breezes. We found the owner friendly and approachable.

“Excellent Location and Home” Our family of four had an absolutelly wonderful week at this condominium. The ocean, with the lagoon, is fantastic to swim and play in, all the time knowing that the kids are safe. The condo was excellent with all of the current amenities, a fantastic view, and a spatious design.

“Perfect Location... The "Real" Hawaii” Being from New Hampshire, Hale Malaekahana reminded me of a Lake House dropped on a perfect stretch of Hawaiian beach, close to the North Shore of Oahu. If you're looking for marble floors and granite counters, stay in Waikiki...if you want a true feel for the "Country" of Hawaii, grab a week or more at Hale Malaekahana!! The house and kitchen were very well equipped for anything that you would need, including surf boards, life jackets, beach chairs/mats, snorkel gear and a Webber Grill for grilling up some of the fresh caught fish that you can get from the locals. Forget about the pricey restaurants in Honolulu, experience the local garlic shrimp and Huli chicken along the route, you'll be glad you stayed up here!! Nothing more relaxing than falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking early to an awesome sunrise and coffee on the beach. Stan and Marcia ( although we didn't meet them personally) were very responsive to e-mails and calls during the booking process and our rental went off without a hitch. They even graciously accommodated our request for a late check-out on departure day as we had a late flight and we wanted to soak up every minute of Sun we could out front on the beach!!

About Waialua

With some of the best cuisine on the island of Maui, miles upon miles of sandy white beaches and unbelievably friendly locals, the Hawaiian town of Waialua has it all! Enjoy the beach related attractions found along the North Shore, sample some of Hawaiian cooking found at the island's best restaurants on the main street, Haleiwa, or go shopping at the high-end boutiques and outdoor malls on Goodale Avenue.

Be sure to make time for some of these activities in Waialua that have made the town such a popular vacation spot:

  • North Shore Surf and Cultural Museum: This museum gives visitors great insight into the history of surfing and features a range of surfboards dating as far back as the 19th century.
  • Go to the Beach: Spend some time on the areas sugar white beaches. Haleiwa Army Beach and Kawailoa Beach are just two of the most popular beaches in Waialua.
  • Go Skydiving: Several local companies will take you 20,000 feet in the air with an experienced instructor for a tandem dive overlooking the beautiful scenery that you won't soon forget.

There are plenty of other things to do in Waialua besides relax on the beach, including attending one of the many major festivals in and around the area. Sample hundreds of local flowers and plants at the Haiku Ho'olaulea and Flower Festival in March, watch movies from the best Hawaiian filmmakers at the Maui Film Festival in June, or go on a whale watching tour during the Whale Day celebration in February.

No matter where you want to stay in Waialua, there's a vacation rental that will meet your every need. Rent a luxury condo just steps from one of the beaches in town, or book an apartment within walking distance of all the stylish restaurants and trendy boutiques.

If you have some extra time to explore, there are plenty of great day trip options on the island of Maui that can be reached in two hours or less by car. Spend a day sampling world-class shopping in Kailua, or visit the picturesque views found throughout Lahaina.

Cottage on the Beach, Romantic, Oahu North Shore Mokuleia (Licensed!)
Hawai'i Doesn't Get any Better

We've been staying at Mokuleia Beach Colony for over 30 years and this is one of the best units there. It's quaint, very clean and wonderfully decorated. The lanai (front porch for you main landers) is maybe the best location in all of Hawai'i to watch a sun set. We can walk on the beach to the east for almost a mile before we get to the first houses in town (Waialua) and all there is are horse pastures and forest on our right and ocean on our left and some amazing snorkeling and swimming holes. I've been finding my favorite Green Sea Turtle, most mornings for several years, about 100 yards off shore, sleeping under a large coral head. The swimming pool is great and there is a super tennis court. This is old "Country" Hawai'i. It doesn't get any better.see more
