Rose Tower was built in 1829 by Henry Tredcroft, a wealthy property owner in the Horsham area who created parks, gardens and pleasure grounds from the original Street Farm and other small farms.
The estate passed to Sir John Henry Pelly in 1855 and then to Charles Thomas Lucas in 1865. Charles Lucas was a partner in the firm Lucas Brothers that built The Royal Albert Hall, Covent Garden Opera House, Kings College Hospital, Cliveden and Alexandra Palace, to name but a few.
