“Smashing house with a great location for day trips in & around Washington DC”

We rented the Monroe House due to it's location and the fact it had a garden for sitting out when the weather was fine.
The Metro is an easy 5 minute walk with Downtown only 15 minutes away. The Beltway is 20 minutes away making day trips to the beach and mountains really easy.
We found the neighbourhood to be pleasant with some nice bars & restaurants.
Myself, my husband and teenage son all really loved the house which was really well equipped, and especially the garden and deck where we did a couple of BBQs in the evening.
All in all a perfect house for anyone who wants to combine access to downtown DC and a base to explore the region more generally.

We stayed at The Monroe House for 5 days for our first visit to Washington, D.C. We had our 4 year old and a 3 month old. It was a great base with everything we could have needed. Rosie was fantastic and very easy to deal with. Union Station was only 3 stops so easy to get around. Would highly recommend this house, particularly for families.

Perfect for families. Huge kitchen-loved cooking in it. Loved the art and interior decorations. Slept well in the bedrooms. House guide explained everything we needed to know. We cooked in the evenings, and walked to the organic market for lots of specialty provisions. Loved sitting on the back deck -- made us feel like we were no longer in the city. Thanks Rosie for the complimentary Metro cards! It was really easy to use and so convenient: three short flat blocks away just like you said.

The house is comfortable and well appointed, with anything you could possibly need for a short or long stay. There is a lovely back yard, a deck with a swinging chair, a chiminea, a gas grill and enough chairs for a small dinner party. The inside of the house has beautiful wood floors and is decorated with interesting items for the owners travels. The living room is filled with comfortable couches and has a large TV with many cable channels. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans and small appliances. The owners are charming and easy to work with. I had a very good experience at this house.

Rosie was so helpful with all our logistics-we had never been to DC. Her house was right in town. We had a great vacation at her home. The neighborhood was convenient, easy to get to the museums. It was a value choice, but turned out to be a great place to stay. We spent a couple of evenings out back sitting in different spots around the yard-we picked spinach from the garden. The garden is a real plus. Driveway was helpful since we drove in from Nashville with our 10 year old daughter and her best friend.

I have 2 energetic little girls and this rental was a perfect fit for us. The house was just the right size for 3 or 4, with all the amenities of home. The kids played in the yard while I cooked dinner. The neighborhood is very cute. There is easy access to the metro, and the drug store and food market is a quick few blocks away. I had mentioned ghat my daughter loved abraham Lincoln, and the homeowner left a walking map and tourism suggestions for us! I may never stay in a hotel again!

This rental was wonderful! Rosie's house was in a beautiful neighborhood, yet just a 5 minute walk to the nearest Metro station and bus depot. It was quiet. The house featured 2 bedrooms with a total of 3 beds and 1.5 bathrooms, nicely furnished and decorated. The backyard, with a gas grill, was also very nice and eclectic. Everything was provided, so it made cooking very easy. Rosie also provided a huge binder about the neighborhood and DC, as well as a computer and cable tv. We really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this rental to anyone wanting to see DC yet have more of a home experience.
