Description
The house consists of an imposing Victorian front addition to a 17th century farmhouse. The self catering apartment consists of the south facing Victorian front and the more rustic Cider Barn. The Victorian area retains most of the original features such as, high moulded ceilings, marble fireplaces and wooden floors. The Period furniture matches the Victorian features. A large Orangery function room and a new modern kitchen and facilities have been added. The Cider Barn incorporates part of the 17th century farmhouse and the original cider barn with exposed beams and slate floors.
Outside is a large Scandinavian style Hot Tub, a 25m swimming pond, covered outdoor kitchen area with log fired Pizza oven and covered patio area with 4 burner gas BBQ. The 4 acres of gardens have something for everyone, from the plantsman to children following the secret paths through the wood or dipping in the wildlife pond, there is also plenty of room for croquette, football and other games.
Whilst in a rural setting Model Farm is ideally situated to explore all of Somerset, only 8 minutes from the centre of Bridgwater, close to the coast, Quantock Hills, and the towns of Taunton, Glastonbury and Wells. There are many footpaths in the area that can be accessed from the farm. The village of Cannington with its pubs, walled garden, shops and Indian restaurant is a pleasant 20 minute walk over the meadows.
There are a host of different activities in the area from gardens, the caves at Cheddar Gorge or Wookey Hole, the bird life on the levels is renowned, as are the potters and basket weavers. A visit to Somerset would not be complete without tasting the local wines and ciders

“Great experience”
This was a great experience for our large group. The house was fabulous and accommodated us all easily and was full of character. Well located for exploring the area. The rooms were huge in the main house and all had ensuite bathrooms as a bonus. The open log fire was a great hit with the kids for toasting marshmallows! Although the weather was poor, the house was warm, although the downstairs kitchen in the Old Byre was draughty and this could be helped with a curtain over the back door. Otherwise we had a great time in the three days we were there.

“Highly recommended”
We stayed at Model Farm Country House for a short 3 night break in August. We had a wonderful time. The house is a lovely, comfortable place to stay, David was always very helpful. Kitchens are both fully equipt with lovely kitchenware, Would like to return one day.

“Excellent accomodation”
I had an absolutly fantastic weekend at Model Farm. We stayed in October 2012 for my 40th birthday celebrations. We aso booked out the Cider Barn so had the whole of the accomodation. We had 9 adults and four children in our group and the property could have accomodated more. It was extremely spacious with lots of room for us all to fit comfortably, and also lots of hide andf seek places for kids, kept them busy for hours. Also the garden is very large and again great for the kids to play in. Tesco also delivered a big shop so dont bother loading your car up with food. Dave was always on hand with directions to pubs!!! and anything you may need. I loved the whole weekend. I would definately love to come and stay again. I would also recommend this accomodation.
