Mountain View Cabin is a beautiful 20 acre property nestled in the majestic mountains of Montana. There are two cabins on the property, connected by a short walkway. They're always rented together, and both cabins combined sleep 8-10 people. The spacious 1 BR/1 BA main cabin was built in 2007 and offers stunning views from every room. The upstairs bedroom has a queen size bed, and the great room has a futon bed that sleeps two. If you need an extra bed, there is room downstairs for a queen size inflatable air mattress that is also provided. The main cabin has wood floors and a tiled laundry room and bathroom. The smaller cabin, built in 2009, offers extra sleeping for four with a queen size and a double bed. It has its own bathroom. A short pathway joins the two cabins, providing convenience but extra privacy.
This property is located in a perfect setting for easy access to dozens of great fishing spots with breathtaking scenery. Six lakes are within a short drive and the famed Madison River is only a 3 mile drive from each cabin. Yellowstone Park is only a 25 min. drive away and there are lots of recreation and sightseeing opportunities in every direction, including horseback riding, rafting, boating, fishing, ATV riding, scenic waterfalls and ghost towns.
We have all the modern conveniences - a washer and dryer, a fully stocked kitchen, satellite TV, a DVD library, and wireless high speed internet access. There is pine tongue and groove on walls and ceilings, creating an appealing, rustic atmosphere. The decks feature a BBQ and seating, where you can drink in the sights and sounds of nature.
Abundant wildlife abounds in the area, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and wildlife photographers. The most common animals to see are moose, elk, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, rabbits, bald eagles and coyotes.
These cabins are located in the midst of exceptional fly fishing country. The #1 rated blue ribbon trout fishing river, the Madison, is only one mile away as the eagle flies. (A 3-mile drive.) If your prefer lakes, you can choose from six different ones, ranging from 2 to 10 miles away: Hebgen Lake, Henry's Lake, Quake Lake, Cliff Lake, Wade Lake and Conklin Lake. Each one is unique and offers breathtaking scenery. There are local places to rent boats, kayaks and canoes, buy fishing gear, sign up for guided fishing trips, or just ask some advice from the experts. There are also two restaurants within 10 miles of the cabins and there are numerous hiking, mountain biking, and horse trails only a short walk or drive away.
In just minutes you can be in Yellowstone National Park, fishing its rivers and lakes or seeing the sights. Yellowstone Park is world famous for its geysers, wildlife, waterfalls, and its unique mix of a wide variety of beautiful geothermal features, from mud pots and mud volcanoes to incredible hot spring terraces. You can swim in the Firehole River or soak in natural hot spring pools. There are several visitor centers with wonderful displays and movies explaining where all this beauty is coming from. The park and the entire area surrounding it for hundreds of miles is definitely a must see.
The town of West Yellowstone provides numerous restaurants, two large grocery stores, a museum, gift shops, and an IMAX theater. There is also a Wolf and Grizzly Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, where you can view these live animals in natural habitats. For the adventurous, the area provides several excellent professionally guided rafting trips, with both gentle and whitewater available. There are several horseback riding outfitters in the area, including one not far from our property. They offer riding for every level of experience. If you need more ideas about things to see and do in the area, feel free to ask us. There is far too much to mention here. Many of our visitors also include a day trip to Teton National Park in their itinerary. So come on out and create your own adventures!

Thought I would send a review after viewing all our photographs from our last vacation. It was the best vacation ever. The cabin was centered around so many fabulous places. We spent two days in Yellowstone National Park. It was such an incredible place. We saw buffalo, bull elk, and a grizzly bear. The mud pits were unbelievable. The second day we rode horses in the park. Other days we hiked, picked wild flowers, canoed in a crystal clear lake, visited an old mining town and saw some of the most amazing scenery. The cabin was spacious for our family and had incredible views. Viewing the stars at night from the porch was a thrill. Alan was great and had loads of ideas for things to do and places to see. We cannot wait to return.

We had no idea that the cabin was 30 miles from West Yellowstone since it was advertised as a West Yellowstone property. The little cabin was several miles down dirt roads which were in good shape until you got to the driveway which was very rough. It needed some gravel on it. Also, the only bathroom was in the bedroom so the other couple had to come in the bedroom to use the bathroom. The disappointment turned out to be a blessing because the men found out that they were in Fly Fishing heaven so they fished a few mornings before going into the park. Staying in this little house on the prairie will be a fun memory and bring laughter
