We are just the third owners of this summer home which was constructed in a post and beam fashion by a local land owner in the early 1900’s. Situated near the end of a private road, you will find the occasional wave from a neighbor as your only contact with the outside world. Originally, the house was built with four bedrooms, with a fifth added later to the rear. A living room and terrace were also added on the front to take advantage of the summer breezes and water view. We have accumulated quite a collection of indoor and outdoor games, toys, puzzles, books and videos over the years, so sit back, relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere. The living room has a working fireplace for cool evenings and the house has heat if you need it in the off season months. Open the windows at the front and back and let the summer breeze waft off the pond and flow through the house.
The kitchen was updated in the 90’s and an oak bar was added which is perfect for breakfast, snacks, a buffet or casual conversation. This is where friends and family congregate when there is activity in the kitchen. Cooking is a breeze in this fully equipped kitchen or on the propane grill outside. The dining room table seats six comfortably and there is a table in the screened in porch as well.
The five bedrooms come in a variety of sizes and colors. The master bedroom with king size bed is secluded and cool at the rear of the house and has a private bath. A second bath adjoins a cozy double bedroom. Two other bedrooms have 2 twin beds each and the fifth bedroom has bunk beds. Two of the three bathrooms have showers, but by far the most popular is the enclosed outdoor shower where you can enjoy the sun while you wash off the sand and salt from a day at the beach.
Speaking of beaches, there is nearly a two mile stretch of beach across the pond in front of the house. You can access the beach by boat or by car. Weekapaug also has a second smaller beach which has gradual drop off that is perfect for children and body surfing. Both beaches are private and can be accessed with a car sticker which we provide. The community also has a summer yacht club for monthly renters where small sailboats can be hired and children (and adults!) can sign up for sailing lessons. The pond, which is three miles long is a beehive of activity sporting sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, fishing, clamming and bird watching. You and your guests access the pond from our neighborhood dock which can accommodate a variety of small boats.
Area activities include golf, tennis, shopping, movies and night life. Daytrips further afield include Newport, Mystic Seaport, Foxwoods and Block Island. But you will find plenty to do (or not to do) at or within a few minutes of our home.TripAdvisor property ID 3657378...Read more
