On the beach in a gated community, Monicove is a modern yet warm, welcoming villa. Step thru the door and bright caribbean colors immediately tell you 'this is going to be fun'. Lots of fun, from the swim-up pool bar to the master bedroom's outdoor roof top bathtub and the outdoor showers of the other 2 bedrooms, additionally there's a futon in the study. It's like having your own 'mini' boutique hotel. The South Coast, last bastion of true old time Jamaican charm and rich rural scenery will enchant you with it's laid-back sophistication.
The villa staff of a houseman and a cook/housekeeper will see to your needs, introduce you to local dishes if you request and share their knowledge of the surrounding area and Jamaica.
The scenery along the coast is stunningly natural. Stalls with local fruits such as Starapple, Soursop, Naseberry, Jackfruit (a few of the more exotic ones) juicy mangoes and sugar cane are nearby. Lots of fish, crab, and even 'pepper shrimp' are sold by roadside women too.
Interesting tours are nearby, YS Falls (with pools and zip line) rival Dunns river falls...maybe more spectacular in it's own way. Go on the Black River Safari Tour, see Egrets nesting and shake hands with George a 12ft crocodile. A great adventure is taking a outboard canoe to Floyds, a quaint bar in the middle of the sea (he dreamt it and went out and built it. Horse riding and the Appleton rum factory/tasting tour, are more of the activities in the area.
On the days you decide to stay home, Lounge by the pool or beach, snorkel, or fish. Leary, the house manager will make sure you're well taken care of, have the cook do you a BBQ on the grill and just chill. Top all this off with friendly, well travelled helpful neighbors for a vacation 'real Jamaican people' style.TripAdvisor property ID 3275172...Read more

An oasis of serenity, the perfect setting for a getaway with family or a group of close friends. A fantastic place to de-stress. The impeccably decorated villa is situated within a lush garden along a cove. Whether you look out from the pool or one of the balconies from an upstairs bedroom, you will enjoy a gorgeous view of the sea and a south coast town. Walk for a minute or 2 either to the right or left of the villa, you will find some wonderful pockets of sand and clear blue sea for a salty swim as a change from the fresh water pool.
Rhema and Leary are wonderful staff who provide fantastic care. Rhema’s cooking is first rate, restaurant quality. Her grandma taught her well to prepare exquisite local dishes.

We just came back from 10 days at this lovely location and home. We were looking for a more local experience. Whitehouse is a small town of 5,000 people off the beaten track. It is a 1.5 hour drive from Montego Bay and this is a good thing. The house sits in a quiet cove with no boat traffic with exception to the local fisherman who sell their daily catch. The lobster delivered to your beach is pretty wonderful. The scenery in and out of the water is wonderful. We spent most of our trip deciding on to start the day with a kayak or snorkel. The water is clear and safe with lots of fish to see. The beach is small but there is a wonderful tanning deck with chairs and hammock at the waters edge. The house is well appointed and our teens enjoyed the wifi and access to Netflicks. We ate all our meals outdoors that the lovely Rhema prepared. The two staff are delightful and went out of their way to make sure our needs were met. We opted to have Rhema prepare her local dishes and where not disappointed. The house has several patios and balconies that all overlook the bay. The outdoor showers were definitely a favourite. The grounds are lush and well maintained. We ate the property bananas, figs and pomegranates not to mention limes for the gin and Ting at cocktail hour.
We cannot say enough how much we loved the location of this house. We took a trip to Black River to go to the market for a local experience. We also spent a day in Negril and were happy to return to our quiet cove. YS Falls is near by and thought it was a good afternoon trip. You don't need more than two hours there. We enjoyed the river shrimp they sell at the side of the road driving to the falls. You can only get them geographically here and they are quite a treat.
If I were to give any advice it would be to take advantage of the large Mega Mart supermarket in Montego Bay before heading to Whitehouse. Stock up on luxury items that you will not be able to find out of the city. Yoghurt, coffee cream, cheeses, crackers, jams and snacks . There were Mosquitos when the sun went down so I recommend bug spray if you plan on sitting out at night which we loved.
Don't pack much as we lived in our swimsuits and T's. Lastly, I recommend a good book some Blue Mountain local coffee and you are ready for a relaxing vacation. This is a great home in a great location if you are looking for quiet and local. We had a fabulous time.

wow is what you say when you enter this ultra modern beachfront villa in a gated community in quiet south coast town of Whitehouse. Local fishermen come to you by boat and sell you fresh lobster and fish at bargain prices. The chef Rhema is fabulous and the butler Leary makes a mean rum punch! This place is so comfortable and relaxing. The outdoor showers connected to the guestroom baths are my fav. I think I bathed at least twice per day!!! I highly recommend this place. I stayed with two other couples and we love this place. We will return for sure.
