Description
Ferndale is a large, charming, four bedroom Victorian cottage on the Isle of Wight, set in idyllic countryside, with a beautiful garden, stunning views of surrounding fields and walks from the doorstep. The house was recently refurbished to a very high standard and has a Quality in Tourism rating FOUR STAR GOLD (2015). It sleeps 8 comfortably, and in addition there is a cot bed in one room.
(Please note, prices on the website are for groups of 8 people - we offer discounts for groups of 4 or less. Please contact me for more information)
Everyone will feel comfortable at Ferndale, and the cottage is well-equipped for families with young children.
The master bedroom, kitchen and lounge have magnificent views over the downs. The lounge with large windows in addition to French doors onto the patio, is a beautiful, light, airy room with a log fire place for cosy winter stays.
There is a large, gated, well maintained garden, with plenty of room for children to play and a driveway with parking for three cars. At the bottom of the garden there is a large wild flower meadow, which is part of the property.
Although there are walks to suit people of all ages and abilities from the door, Ferndale is just a short drive from the some of the island's best beaches and tourist attractions. You'll find several excellent pubs in the area, including one in nearby Niton village, where there are also good shops - a 15-20 minute walk from the house.
The master bedroom has a new, extremely comfortable super king bed and two armchairs in which to relax and admire the stunning views over the garden, fields and downs. The second bedroom has a king size bed and is at the back of the house, with views over fields. Bedroom three has 6ft bunk beds and a large cot and views over the garden and fields to the side of the house. Bedroom four is downstairs and has twin beds.
There are two bathrooms upstairs. One is adjacent to the master bedroom and has a large walk in shower, bidet, toilet and wash basin. The second bathroom has a bath, with shower, basin and beautiful views over the downs. There is a separate toilet and basin next door.
Downstairs there is a spacious entrance hall and cloakroom with toilet and basin. The lounge has two sofas and two arm chairs; it seats eight in comfort. There are beautiful views and a fireplace for winter stays. The dining room also seats eight and there is a high chair available.
The kitchen is new and fully equipped. The sink is under the window and has breathtaking views over fields. There is a breakfast bar, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, large fridge / freezer, as well as a microwave, kettle and toaster.
There are several benches in the garden. There are also two tables, eight chairs and a BBQ in the garage for guests to use.
Children are welcome!
There is a cot bed, high chair, and a selection of books and toys for young children (2-5).
Please bring your own beach towels as these are not provided. Should you wish to use the cot you will need to provide your own bedding.
We have an access statement which gives full details of the property. This is sent to everyone who makes a booking, but if you'd be interested in seeing it prior to making a decision, please contact me.

“Lovely large spacious house with huge garden and beautiful views.”
Ferndale is a large spacious property in a beautiful setting with a very large garden. The views are spectacular especially from one of the bedrooms. The lounge is very comfortable as is the rest of the house. It is an ideal family location with plenty of space for children to play. It isn't far to travel to the beach or other island attractions and Black Gang Chine is on the doorstep almost. Whitwell is a pretty village with an excellent old pub serving really good food. We all had a wonderful holiday at Ferndale. Just a couple of minor suggestions. -another clothes airer or a washing line and a pizza cutter in the otherwise well equipped kitchen.

“A wonderful peaceful holiday.”
A lovely house to relax in and we spend a few afternoons sitting in your lovely garden. We all enjoyed the walk down the bottom of the garden and saw the animals that your neighbour has. The garden was just a burst with colour and flowers, and many I loved the large separate dining room and the master bedroom was so big. All the furnishings in the home are top quality, nothing to do but open the door and relax with a bottle of wine, thank you also Ken for supplying that. We could not fault anything in the house, everything had been thought of. Ken is only an email away and extremely helpful. Once again, thank you for a lovely holiday
