“Amazing week at The Devon Lodge” We returned this Summer to the Devon lodge. The weather forecast was not good but turned out to be wrong. We were on the beach most days until the evening, the children were body boarding and rockpooling and kite flying. We spent our time at Duckpool, Sandymouth, Croyde and Bude. Fantastic week, would highly recommend. Didn't spend too much time in the Lodge as we were out each day but the accommodation is of very high standard, it was very comfortable, clean and very well equipped for eating in and maps, games, etc.

“A lovley place to Stay” Service very good, everything worked. The accommodation clean, tidy and warm the only down side is that the bed was a little uncomfortable. The Spa was very friendyl but professional. There are plans to extend and include a swimmingpool which will enhance the place.

“very relaxing family holidays” we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing stay at Downes. The location is great but not close for restaurants, supermarkets and beaches, it requires some driving, this is why we deducted a star. The start for comfort was deducted because we felt a noise coming on/going off in early morning for a boiler or something in one of the rooms even though heating was off. This woke us occassionally and is overall a minor thing. Overall a very nice stay and already recommended further. In terms of comfort and equipments: very well equipped, everything is here, and we mean everything, nothing to bring. We would come again.

“Great place to stay and re-charge your batteries!” From the moment of arriving Jeremy and Lynda couldn't have done more to make me feel welcome and valued. The cottage was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need. The location is superb and is very peaceful yet plenty to do on the doorstep. I heartily recommend a cream tea at Cheristow Lavendar which is just a short walk away and a visit to atlantic Village in Bideford. The only downside was having to go home!

“A relaxing, romantic stay with outstanding food!” This was a great break. The cottage was comfortable & warm with a very good bed and superb shower! The hot stone massage was really sensational - totally relaxing but what really stood out was the excellent food. Delicious, with a really home cooked feel - great portion sizes & the home grown salad just topped it off perfectly. We felt like we had a week away, not a weekend! The spa facilities were good and the sauna & steam was great temperature and never over full. The owners clearly cared a lot about how good a time we had and wanted to do everything they could. Highly recommended!

“I cannot fault this stay” I have stayed in several of Lynda and Jeremy's cottages over the past few years. I have yet to find anywhere to stay on holiday that's so relaxing and relaxed. I am very particular when it comes to privacy, quiet and cleanliness but I never have to worry about anything when I go to Downe House. The Roes are the perfect hosts and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Do go and visit!

This was our second stay at the Devon Lodge. The owners personally supplied us with the lodge key and gave us a good briefing on the new facilities at the Lodge as well as information about local places to visit. We were supplied with clear written directions to the lodge via email. This was useful for two of the party that had not been there before The accomodation is outstanding. There were six in our party but eight would have been no problem. A perfect television picture with free sat. There was also a video and DVD player - All easy to operate - Washing up was no problem with a full size dishwasher.The kitchen was very well equipped. Hot water always available at the flick of a switch. We very appreciated the fact that there were waste recycling facilities on the site. There is a large deck/balcony with seating outside. Great for sitting down to read, playing cards or for meals in the fresh air. The three bedrooms (one onsuite) are all very comfortable. Simply but tastefully decorated. Off 'track' parking next to lodge. We did some beautiful walks that included the South Coast path to Clovelly and the estury at appledore. My daughter and I hired bicycles at Barnstable and cycled 28 miles on the amazing Tarka trail - All off road. There is a very useful folder at the lodge containg leaflets of the local attractions. The lodge is in a very peaceful area. Lovely wildlife with the bats coming out at 830pm every day. Also plenty of sightings of Geese and many other birds. There is nothing to dislike about the Devon Lodge. It is set in a tranquil location but you do not have to travel far for great places to visit. A welcome place to come back to after a long day out.
