We have just returned from Lake Como. In spite of very mixed weather, the area is very beautiful, with lots to see and do.
However, whilst the apartment has stunning views and is very nice, my husband and the friends we holidayed with all felt that the apartment was a bit disappointing. It was described as being a luxury apartment - which is fine if you like everything from Ikea! The wardrobes had no doors and there were no drawers to put anything in. The bedding was badly fitting and not very luxurious, nor were there any mattress protectors, Neither were there any English channels on the TV, which in view of the poor weather would have been nice.
One evening all the power went off, which we later discovered was due to both the washing machine and oven being in use at the same time! We had not been told about this by Cinzia - nor did we hear from her unless we contacted her when we had a problem. We also had a problem with the gas alarm, which ended up being switched off pending repair.
Laglio was a very quiet place with no nice little bars or restaurants, and only two small shops. There really was little to do there. It would have been nice to have had some sort of small welcome pack on arrival, plus a visitors book where previous guests could offer recommendations or give handy hints.
Having said all of this, we did have a nice holiday but feel that the apartment wasn't what we were hoping for. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your recent stay at our apartment. We are the owners of the apartment and take all feedback very seriously, as we want our guests to enjoy our apartment, Laglio and the Lake as much as we do.
I am pleased that you enjoyed the ‘stunning views’ from the apartment and that you did have an enjoyable holiday.
You mention in your feed back that you did feel the apartment was ‘very nice’ but not luxurious unless ‘ you like everything from ikea’. I do feel that this is very unfair feedback and is completely out of character from the very positive reviews we have received to date.
Granted the cutlery and crockery are from Ikea as we have found over time this is the only practical solution with items being broken or going missing.
I do not however feel your comments provide a true reflection of the apartment. Without going through a full specification, both bathrooms are fully kitted out with the highest possible Italian designed fittings, showers etc GSI Losangna. The fitted kitchen is an Italian designed contemporary kitchen.
The lounge with the stunning views you mention benefits from a top of the range 6 meter modular corner Poliform sofa along with a Poliform Coffee table and mirror. The lighting is by Foscarini.
Poliform have an outlet in the UK on Kings Road near Sloane Square if you wish to see where these products are positioned in the ‘luxury market’.
It is fair to say that the apartment was set up and planned in a contemporary luxury manner not ‘chintzy’ to suit the position it has looking over the lake.
Your comments regarding the hanging spaces suggest that they are ‘missing doors’. They are modern hanging spaces not ’fitted wardrobes’ and were chosen specifically to suit the apartment.
You mention the bedding was badly fitted and not luxurious. I hand delivered to the apartment 3 sets of brand new bedding 100% egyptian cotton only 2 weeks prior to your visit.
Although you suggested Cinzia mentioned there is a problem with the power when the washing machine and oven are on this is not the case. It is well known in Italy and around the lake that when there are two many items on in a home that the electric can trip out. Cinzia advised you, as she does when she meets all guests, of this at the commencement of your stay and if it does happen the switch in the apartment just needs to be put back on for everything to work smoothly again. There are also instructions left in the home in the event of the electric cutting out to this effect.
Barrie and Cinzia who manage the apartment for us tell me that they gave you their mobile phones and asked you to call them if you had any problems during your stay. Cinzia pointed out the file which provides information about things to do on the lake and whilst providing a bottle of wine to enjoy whilst reading this information. Cinzia or Barrie are available for all guests seven days a week by phone or internet, the later which is installed free of charge in the home.
Both Cinzia and Barrie have lived on the lake for many years and know the area inside out and are happy to impart their knowledge of what to see, where to eat
and how to explore the lake from a locals perspective to give you an insiders view of the area. We also send guests extensive information of the area with each
booking confirmation as we feel staying in a holiday home provides you the opportunity to sample life as the locals do to help ensure you get the most from your stay.
The Satelite TV does have numerous Italian channels as well as selected English tv channels.
Finally, you mention that Laglio is a quiet place with only a few shops and no restaurants. Yes, Laglio is a quiet place and that is how the both local residents and we like it. We chose to purchase a home in this area as it is far removed from the more touristy villages such as Bellagio and Menaggio.
The shops here in Laglio, although small ,include a general store, an award winning delicatese/butcher, postoffice/newsagent, weekly fresh fruit and vegetable market stall. There are two very nice local restaurants in the village and too numerous to mention close by.
It is a pleasure to be sat overlooking the lake and all you can hear are the church bells in the distance, or the hum of a speedboat or seaplane.
To quote a Daily telegraph article on 15 May 2013 about the lake “ The Millionaires row runs through Laglio and Carate Urio and is as quiet as a Mayfair Street and just as expensive ’
I do hope this reply addresses some of your comments raised to provide balanced feedback for yourself and future guests seeking an authentic lake experience we strive to provide.

Fantastic apartment in the perfect spot on Lake Como. Clean, Modern apartment with all life's luxuries with breathtaking views of the lake. Swimming pool was great and the two small private gardens owned by the apartment were perfect.
Words dont do it justice. Booked again for next year.

We've spent the whole winter period in the Laglio garden apartment, and the peace, beauty of the nature, perfectly fresh air give us a marvelous experience for our hole life. Here you can always find new activities - walking, running, riding a bike, sailing, rowing, renting a boat, skiing...
We've got fast and flexible service, any of our requests - even the specials ones - was accepted. The apartment is really nice, sunny, the terrace can also be used in the winter period. The apartment has a good layout, so 4 persons can stay here comfortable.
I don't like the fridge (icy) and that the trays of the oven was terribly dirty. Read more
Many thanks for reviewing the home, glad you enjoyed winter in Como.
The freezer compartment of the fridge can get frozen quickly if turned up to the maximum level, as explained on arrival, so always best not to set the gauge to the highest leve.
Sorry the oven was not cleaned to the high standards we set.
Cinzia, the home manager, inspects the cleaning meticuosly between each visit and i am called down immediately when this was flagged to us.
Thanks once again for the feeback, it is appreciated so we can ensure the very best service at all times for all guests

Words can not do lake Como justice

Our stay was wonderful. We visted many of the villages on the lake as well as Milan. The Italian people are very gracious and enjoy helping americans with their Italian.

The apartment was fantastic, it had mostly everything we needed in it. We were also lucky in that no-one else in the other apartments used the pool so the kids had it to themselves which they loved.
However, the down side for my partner was the lack of internet it was extremely slow when he did eventually get onto it and was constantly timing out. If we had known it was that bad then i wouldn't have rented the apartment as i my other half has to have internet due to the nature of his business. They did say there was a wine bar 10mins away that we could use which wasn't any use as part of going away is to still back and relax with drink so pointless when he would have to drive.
Anyway, the manger's were very helpful and apart from the lack of internet connection couldn't fault the apartment or the location. Read more
Many thanks for your feedback, glad you enjoyed your stay. We do offer internet keys for wireless connection if prebooked ahead of stay.
You can use the keys in the home and around the lake rather than relying on your blackberry as phone signal is poor i agree!

Beautiful and relaxing location with a modern apartment

Highly recommended modern apartment in a great location although make sure you are fit enough to climb lots of cobbled steps to reach it.
Would definately return if funds allowed. We drove from the UK and it was fantastic that we could park our car in a secure underground car park as part of the rental.
Also make sure you get any food supplies in as soon as possible as the shops are not open as frequently as the UK.
Difficult to criticise but it would be nice if a broadband connection was included in the rental and it would've been great to be able to view some UK channels on the TV which was not possible.
Excellent modern apartment with wonderful views over Lake Como

The apartment was modern, clean and very comfortable and the views over Lake Como were spectacular. Having breakfast outside in the private garden was idyllic as were the evening views of Lake Como from the outside veranda. The agency staff were very helpful and advised on places to vist in the area. Not much in Laglio itself (apart from George Clooney's villa) - so a car is essential.

We had a wonderful time on Lake Como this summer. The flat had a beautiful view and we enjoyed the swimming pool every afternoon with the kids. It is just the stairs to access that are a bit steep ! Laglio situation was quite central to the lake. We easily took the ferry from Lenno to discover the lovely cities of Varenna and Bellagio. We rented a boat in Cernobbio and had great fun boating on the lake.

I still think of your apartment on Lake Como and spent an idyllic time sitting on the balcony watching the comings and goings on the lake and realising how central the lake is to life in the area. The apartment was beautiful and in an ideal position – although, because of the many steps leading up to it, it wouldn’t be suitable for anyone with mobility problems (or even for those with very heavy suitcases!).
