The front door of La Maison Joyeux opens onto an area from which a stone staircase leads to the first floor. On the right, the spacious kitchen is thoughtfully laid out. There is a huge, old stone fireplace, lovely old terracotta flooring and a traditional Provencal beamed ceiling. A large, central table welcomes you at breakfast time. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, pantry, microwave, toaster, and espresso machine. On the other side of the entrance is the dining room, with a table for eight, a decorative fireplace, and a south-facing window on to the terrace. The living area is comfortably furnished with two linen sofas, armchairs and plenty of scattered cushions. Enjoy your evenings with a cozy fire in the beautiful stone fireplace, or with a DVD in the Home Cinema system. From here, French doors lead out onto the covered terrace. The five bedrooms are located on the first and second floors. The Master Suite offers a queen bed and a large, ensuite bathroom with claw-foot tub and separate shower. A ceiling fan helps regulate the temperature and a discreet staircase helps ensure privacy. The second bedroom also offers a queen bed and access to the terrace through French windows. It shares a large bathroom with bathtub with the third bedroom. Its twin beds can either be separated or made into a double. The fourth bedroom has two twin beds (convertible into a double), a painted wardrobe and a stone fireplace. Across the hall is a sunshine-yellow shower room with sink and WC. The fifth bedroom, which is by request only, is the children's room with two twin beds and a colorful turquoise wall. This room communicates with the Master bedroom. Tarascon is an ancient fortified town on the Rhone, between Avignon and Arles, two of Provence's most popular towns. Tarascon's medieval sites feature 15th-century Roi Rene's chateau, the 12th-14th-century Saint Martha collegiate church (both located in the center beside the main river bridge) and the 15th-century Saint Jacques church with its lovely Cordeliers cloister. The nice-sized town is easily discovered on foot as is it's sister city, Beaucaire, located across the Rhone.
