“Great stay!!!” My nephew wanted to go snowboarding for his 9th birthday, so my brother being the great planner he is booked a hotel for an extremely high price. I checked online and found the Getaway Chalet the day before the trip and was able to book the Chalet for 13 people! Barbara was extremely helpful and we were boked in 15 minutes. The chalet was incredible! It was spacious, cozy, and extremely accomodating. It was located right down the street from Mountain High, and right up the street from the town in case we needed anything. We had an outstanding time and will definitely come again!

“Perfect place to rest after snowboarding” Came here with my family and friends from Friday to Sunday morning. It was really close by to the rental place, gas station, grocery store, restaurants, and bars. When you walk in, the first room you see is the family room with a pool table and huge TV. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, one bathroom, living room, dining room, and kitchen. Then the third floor has two bedrooms and one bath. Every room was cute and cozy, each with a king bed. We all came back from the snow at night and the only downside to the cabin was that after three people showered, the hot water was gone for the rest of us. =( We played pool and waited for an hour or so for the hot water to come back, but it was still cold. Overall, I'd come back cos it was a cozy spot and fun to spend time with family and friends in. It was super fun!

About Wrightwood

Whether you’re planning a relaxing mountain retreat or a getaway packed with outdoor adventure, Wrightwood is a top destination for four-season fun. The quiet resort community—a peaceful place where the elevation (5,935') is greater than the population (4,525)—is surrounded by soaring pines in the Angeles National Forest. Thanks to its location 90 minutes from LA, Wrightwood has the most accessible ski slopes in Southern California.

From winter music festivals at Mountain High Resort to the Mountain Classic Car Show, annual community events put Wrightwood’s history and hospitality on display. During Mountaineer Days, a family-friendly festival dubbed “the highlight of the summer,” the town hosts a community parade, western reenactments, costume contests, and old-fashioned games.

Wrightwood offers plenty of activities to get your heart pumping and adrenaline flowing year-round. From early November through late April, Mountain High Ski Resort boasts some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the San Gabriel Mountains. Snowmaking covers more than 80% of the slopes—so even when Southern California isn’t a winter wonderland, experienced skiers can enjoy top-notch trails on 290 acres of skiable terrain. An excellent ski school and tubing park make Mountain High a great fit for families, too. As the area’s closest winter resort with no mountain driving, it’s easy to reach—and even easier to find FlipKey rentals nearby.

For a breathtaking experience that requires a little less skill than alpine skiing, try zipping through the trees hundreds of feet above the forest floor. Big Pines Zipline Tours provides amazing canopy adventures involving treetop ziplines and a 200-foot-long Sky Bridge. It’s an exciting way to get a true bird’s eye view of the area.

Of course, if you prefer to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground, you can enjoy similar views by following one of the region’s many hiking trails. The iconic Pacific Crest Trail runs along a ridge overlooking Wrightwood, and Angeles National Forest is home to its fair share of excellent treks—not to mention seven-acre Jackson Lake, a scenic fishing spot full of largemouth bass during the summer. Bring your kayak or canoe and take in the surrounding desert landscape as you paddle.

No matter when you decide to visit, make time to go for a drive and soak in the incredible scenery (featuring massive snow drifts in the winter, fiery leaves during the fall, and colorful wildflowers in the warmer months). Also worth a stop? Wrightwood Village, where you’ll find charming coffee shops, antique stores, and a local farmer’s market held on Friday afternoons.

After a full day of skiing, hiking, ziplining, or canoeing, you’ll want to retreat to a rustic cabin or alpine escape. From cottages to bungalows, the classic mountain rentals available on FlipKey offer amenities like central heating and air con, brand new appliances, and homey touches like cabinets full of board games to make your trip especially memorable. Relax in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by towering oaks and pines just minutes from the slopes, the trails, and the quaint restaurants downtown.

4 nights for Christmas

We had a great time for a total of 7 adults and 5 children, this is a great location and a beautiful chalet, we spent 4 nights including Christmas and the children loved it, there was snow in the backyard and the weather was gorgeous, enough cold for our families. The chalet has everything you need, aside from the linens which were not very comfy and the issue of taking out the trash with us everything went well, the fireplace and the family room was incredible for Christmas Eve, we didn't have a problem with iced roads or using chains in our tires, the chalet is very close to mountain high and we spent a lot of time there with enough time to spend the afternoon at the chalet, overall we had a great time and will book again in the future, thanks Barbara for help us booking the chalet answering all of our questions.see more

Clean and Comfortable, Great Summer Weekend

There were 3 adult couples and 1 young adult stayed at this family cabin. There were enough room for all of us. We arrived in the dark but the streets were well lit and didn't have any problem getting there. The owner was very helpful and the instructions were complete. The downstairs game room was well equipped with a big screen tv. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The whole house was clean but you have to consider the age of the house. I could see the evidence of the owner trying to update the house but the cabinets, window screens and curtains were old. But that didn't take away the enjoyment of this cozy mountain home located very conveniently in town. We could walk a few hundred feet to the supermarket, shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the drive to the ski slopes and parks. I wish we could stay longer than just a weekend.see more
