The safety of our guests is our top priority.
58 Marygate (white cottage on the left in the picture) is a 300 year old cottage that has been recently completely renovated to a high standard, whilst retaining its original period features and charm.
It has a superb view from the front of the house over the entrance to the Museum Gardens and St Olaves Church.
Marygate is a fascinating, attractive street in a central York location, it is not too busy so is quiet at night. It's location makes it an ideal base to explore all of York's many attractions, all are within easy walking distance, Minster 5 mins walk, main shopping areas 5 minutes walk through the Museum Gardens. It has been equipped and furnished to a high standard incorporating a hand made kitchen with granite worktops and Smeg and Neff appliances. Bathrooms feature travertine tiles, duravit sanitaryware and hansgrohe rain showers, the main bathroom also has a freestanding bath. The lounge has a period Georgian fireplace with solid oak flooring, comfy sofas and 2 old leather arm chairs, there is a 40" Flat screen TV with a Netflix subscription.
Bedrooms include quality beds and soft, quality Eygptian Cotton bedding. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en suite bathroom with a great view at the front of the house. Also at the front of the house is bedroom 2 with a kingsize bed again with a great view over the front. At the back of the house is the dormer bedroom with 2 single beds and a nice view down Marygate Lane. There are flat screen TV's in all the 3 upstairs bedrooms. Downstairs is the fourth bedroom with bunk beds suitable for adults or kids. Outside is a small courtyard area with patio furniture. There is also a fast WIFI connection.
There is a large 24hr secure car park to the rear of Marygate (1 min walk) if you pre book it online with one of the parking websites like 'your parking space' you can usually get it for around 5/6 pounds per day.
We also have a high chair and fold down cot in the cottage for our guests with babies.
There is the excellent Star Inn The City restaurant in the Museum Gardens opposite the house 2 minutes walk away, and also the highly acclaimed Roots restaurant 4 doors down the street. There are two pubs on Marygate itself and a Sainsburys local at the top of Marygate 3 minutes walk away. The River Ouse is at the bottom of Marygate 1 minute walk away.
Regrettably we cannot accept bookings from stag or hen weekends as the property is in a quiet residential neighbourhood.
