“Loved it all!” My family and I had a wonderful time on our vacation this summer, and the main reason is because of where we stayed! Everthing was fantastic! We truly enjoyed the house, the location, the yard with the pool, and the proximity to the beach. We felt very safe and taken care off by your great staff and highly recommend renting from Abbey del Sol!

“Gorgeous relaxing Caribbean villa” Everything that past reviewers have said about Casona Palms is true. It is truly a Caribbean paradise, private, secluded, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere encourages you to sit still and relax while soaking in the gorgeous view of the sea and listening to the wind rustle in the coconut palms. The beach is kept raked clean by the caretakers, the kayaks are ready for your use, and the lounge chairs await you and a good book. The house is pristine, tasteful, and more than comfortable. Michael the owner provided us with extremely helpful and complete information on the house and surrounding area, including great driving directions. We enjoyed trips to the village of Majahual, quiet and lazy when the cruise ships are not in, but more shops are open on cruise ship days. You can occupy a table on the beach and slip in the water for a swim between margaritas. There is a great pescaderia that sells fish and lobster fresh off the boats every afternoon. Ask around for antonio the owner. We enjoyed an excursion to the stunning Mayan ruins of Chocchoban. We went on a day when the cruise ships were not in and had the entire place to ourselves. We spent a couple days with Nick Denbow, a delightful local fishing guide and British expat. The men in our group went bone fishing with him one day on a nearby lagoon, and our entire group went bird and wildlife watching with him on the border between Mexico and Belize. We experienced dozens of stingrays swimming past our boats and leaping in the air in the Chetumal Bay and were thrilled by gentle giant manatees approaching our boat in the river. I can recommend Casona Palms without hesitation.

“Absolutely the best place to stay” I have spent more that one vacation in Playa Del Carmen and this is my second trip to Casa Cascada. In July of last year we went down to swim with the whale sharks. We had an incredible experience in which the owner of the home was able to assist us in booking the trip. Swimming with the whale sharks and then enjoying a relaxing evening by the pool was magical. The home, grounds, amenities, views!! are all spectacular. Our recent trip down was no exception. Very well kept and easy walking distance to the beach and downtown. This is a jewell worth experiencing!

“Relaxing and tranquil” This was a great place to stay at. Progreso is a nice lazy fishing village at the tip of the Mexican state of Yucatan. It was a great place for our kids to hang out in the pool with comfortable accommodations. The beach is just a short walk down the road. If you like searching for shells, it is basically untouched (My daughter went crazy). The beach itself is not wide and a bit rocky the first few feet to get into it. However, it is shallow for about 100 meters or so out and wonderful warm water. From the beach you can watch the sunset in the evening. Progreso itself is not a destination really. Downtown is just okay. There are many things to do within 2 hours of time and Merida is only 20 minutes away. There are several supermarkets in town to bring drinks and food in. If you are looking for a great, relaxing place that feels like authentic Mexico, this is a great place to stay and visit. The site manager, Carlos, is a great guy and Jason, the owner, keeps on top of things. We would definitely return.

“Great Vacation at Villa Ka Kuxta” Villa Ka Kukta was a little paradise for all my family 5 adults and 7 children. We all had a wonderful time. Akumal is a wonderful place to stay, the villa is in a secluded location and we really appreciated that. Akumal Playa and Village are very nice, we enjoyed the restaurants and the boutiques there. It is easy to visit some of the Maya sites: we went to Tulum, Koba and Chichen Itza. We enjoyed Christmas Mass in Chemuyil, people there were very friendly, in fact all mexicans are really very nice. The management and staff at the villa were perfect, they cooked nice dinners for us and did everything they could to make our stay pleasurable. We were sad to leave and sorry we could not stay longer (the trip from France is quite long and tiresome, but my son and son-in-law had to go back to work, a week is too short...) All of us will keep wonderful memories of this awsome place and we wish you a great 2103.

“Girls Week in Paradise” Me and my mom and sister decided to take a trip to Mexico for my mom's 60th birthday. The location, amenities and hospitality of this apartment were excellent. We loved the apartment, the pool, the beaches and the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend a stay at this home away from home.

“In a nutshell, perfect!” We loved staying at La Mirage. It was quiet, welcoming, safe, well maintained and immaculate. Staff was helpful and accommodating, and owner was very responsive and patient with my questions. Booking was a breeze and everything was just as we agreed to--no surprises. The location was great, and we took full advantage of snorkeling right at our doorstep. Great eateries next door and within a short walk. The place had lots of lovely Mexican charm. Very relaxing. We can't wait to go back!

“Beautiful Setting, Relaxing Stay” This is our second visit to Tankah Bay and it's pretty hard to beat our first stay. This was definitely comparable. The house was beautiful, clean, spacious and perfect for what we wanted. The caretakers were absolutely wonderful and very accommodating for our needs. I recommend taking advantage of their cooking skills, it will add to your relaxing experience and the food was excellent. Everyday you can stroll on the beach, take a swim, snorkel and kayak. Everything is right there, almost no need to leave the property. Within walking distance you have the Manatee Cenote, I highly recommend, just go early because it can get busy. Also, within walking distance, you have two bar/restaurants. My favorite part of the day was relaxing under the palapa, right on water, watching the birds hunt and dive. The beach side of the villa also offers privacy with a patio and lounging areas sheltered by hedges. I'd like to give a special thank-you to the property manager who provided us with fresh eggs from a local farm when the grocery store ran out of them just before Christmas. The Tulum ruins are a must see, as well as the Coba ruins. If you are adventurous, you can climb largest ruin in Coba and get an amazing view of the jungle. I could go on and on about how amazing this place is, but, you'll have to find out for yourselves! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this stunning villa. A much needed escape from the gray and cold of winter.

Beach Front Brand New Villa, Heated Pool & Wi-Fi

Telchac Puerto villa

“Wonderful vacation” We spent a Christmas week on the villa and received everything we were dreaming to have during this vacation - a spacious and tastefully decorated villa, very clean and comfortable; a big and clean pool, and an ocean - beautiful and relaxing. It was a great pleasure to have a breakfast on the patio on the second floor, to listen the ocean and breathe fresh salty air, or to relax in hammock during the day or in the evening. The small town of Telchack has few awesome restaurants with fresh seafood and delicious local deserts, it is very quite, far from tourist crowds and local people are very friendly. We have also enjoyed flamingos and other birds watching in the lagoon just few minutes drive, local ruins, ceinotes and Merida with its cultural events. This vacation had just one disadvantage - it passed too quickly. I wish we'll have at least two weeks to spend there.

“Casa Mulder” We loved Puerto Morelos, found the staff @Abbey Del Sol very professional and attentive. We give the staff 5 stars. Casa Mulder could use some attention. Dishwasher never worked and was not repairable although the staff tried. Furniture was not especially comfortable and the kitchen did not have a skillet that was non stick. Beds were comfortable showers had issues such as no hot water until the staff addressed. Property is for sale and it appears to be in need of some upgrades. Overall we enjoyed our stay and found the village shopes, restaurants and people to be very friendly, a pleasure to visit. The reef is pristine and well worth taking one of the local guides for a visit. We used Wet Set and found them very friendly and helpful. Our favorite place to eat was John Greys Kitchen. We enjoyed several local restaurants, however John Greys was several cuts above the rest. We will return to Puerto Morelos and stay with Abbey Del Sol but probably use one of the other properties.

About Yucatan Peninsula

Dividing the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, this beautiful peninsula is a haven of white sandy beaches and reef-laden tropical waters. There are lush rainforests to trek in and ancient Mayan architecture to marvel at. Make sure you don't miss out by booking your Yucatan Peninsula vacation rental on FlipKey.

About the Yucatan Peninsula

Yucatan possesses some amazing natural wonders such as its underwater reef wall and jewel-colored marine life, together with its wildlife, bird and insect-filled rainforests and national parks. Then there are those gorgeous golden beaches.

The Mayan lifestyle and beliefs are celebrated more in this peninsula than any other part of Mexico, and in its capital Merida in particular. In fact, the Mayan language is still the mother tongue of many in Yucatan.

You can get an idea of how the ancient Maya civilizations worshipped, lived and work by visiting some of the Peninsula's many historic relics (and which today have become treasured UNESCO World Heritage sites).

The cuisine of the region centers around marinated pork, and a red paste made from a spice called achiote. Pumpkin seeds, banana leaves and limes also feature heavily.

What to do

Stop off at Cancun. The top tourist attraction for Mexico as a whole, it boasts truly stunning yellow beaches, turquoise seas and superb sun-worshipping weather.

Get some history under your belt by visiting the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum and Chichen Itza. From pyramids to fortresses and truly stunning temples, there's enough to go exploring for days.

Soak up the peninsula's culture in its capital Merida where 60% of residents are of Mayan ethnicity, which is celebrated with great fanfare during the Day of the Dead festivities on November 1 and 2. Don't miss the modern sculpture in the Paseo de Montejo or a Yucatan Symphony Orchestra concert.

Dive and snorkel amongst the coral reefs on the island of Cozumel. Later, go walking in the rain forest or clubbing at one of the island's bars then get the ferry back to Cancún or Playa del Carmen the next morning.

Top Yucatan Peninsula travel tips

The best time to head to Yucatan is between December and April when it's mostly warm and dry. July and August are often too humid, while September to November is the rainy season, with hurricanes.

Bus travel around the Peninsula is comfortable and reasonably priced. Most cities and towns have a main bus station with Class 1 buses. Class 2 buses aren't always air-conditioned and work out around 20 per cent cheaper.

Until recently, a relatively isolated spot of Mexico, this Peninsula feels like a country in its own right, thanks to its unique language, culture and the general outlook of those who live there. Go explore for yourself while staying in one of the Yucatan Peninsula vacation rentals we have to offer.

Villa Nicte Tulum 2
Lovely, safe, private

Villas nicte was a great place to stay during covid travel. The home has a very nice pool and cabana that was pleasant for afternoon lounging. We stayed for 2 weeks, working remotely and enjoying different scenery. The home is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is adequate, we ate many meals out and used it mainly for breakfasts and preparing sandwiches or reheating pre cooked food. The food stands sell BBQ chicken, which comes with rice, beans and pasta, this makes a good meal for 130 pesos. You can easily bike to many fruit and vegetables stands for fresh food to cut up. There are small markets selling nessecities nearby. We also shopped at a large supermarket, although it wasn't really needed. The liquor is sold at oxxo, also nearby. Nearby are restaurants with outdoor uncrowded seating for better meals, El gaban, la consiendeta are 2 we enjoyed. The neighborhood is a mix of condos under construction and completed. The roads are mostly gravel and very full of pot holes. This seems to be the Tulum paving, the roads are much worse there than other parts of Mexico where we traveled. I suppose the construction boom has not been supported with needed infrastructure. A bicycle was preferred for transportation bc of the state of the roads. You can bike to the beach road in about 30 to 40 minutes, it takes that long to drive. We went to some public access points on the north end of the beach. We also slowly drove into Siam Kian biosphere, and enjoyed a day at El ultimate Mayan beach club. This is the first open club...and the road is especially bad out there so reducing time on it was important. There are many cenotes south of the neighborhood on 307. We biked and drove to them. There is also a good restaurant at Rio santa Maria out that way. The caretakers for the home were very helpful in any way we asked. She cleaned the house once per week. She also did laundry for a small fee. The home has a wall and locked gate, you park inside the compound. This is a benefit. We enjoyed watching the many tropical birds surrounding the compound and saw some interesting animals in the jungle from our living room. It was an excellent choice for us bc we were not trying to mingle with other tourists and were conscious of covid protocol. If you want privacy, security, and a beautiful spot in the jungle villas nicte fits the bill. There are plenty of tulums attractions close enough to enjoy-ruins in muyill, coba, cenotes, the beach, inexpensive food. If you are looking for beachfront luxury and fashion show this might not be it.see more

House in paradise

Words cannot describe how much we loved our vacation here! The house was huge and had multiple places to sleep, the beds were comfortable, and there was a fan and a/c in every room. The kitchen was big and well stocked. The maid service was such a nice bonus! But the best part was the outdoor area - our kids spent hours going between the pool and hot tub! The entire yard is completely private and surrounded by what feels like jungle. There were so many birds and a few other animals! Comfortable outdoor seating area plus 2 outdoor dining tables too. Plenty of towels supplied which was very appreciated. Chairs and umbrella for the beach and some sand toys were great. The beach was not super close but a nice walk past the golf course and through a jungle area passing by some Mayan ruins. Easy walk into town, even for the kids. Communication was great and we felt very well looked after! Overall just an amazing stay - highly recommend!see more

Great views, Good location, Not Kid friendly***

Great location, plenty of space and amenities (some like the bathrooms need TLC). The views are stunning. The staff is very helpful and friendly, the pools are decent. The distance from supermarkets, stores and cancun tourist area is not that bad (definitely worth going to the waltmart and get your groceries there). The furniture is decent. Nice livingroom for a family gathering and fully equipped kitchen. Money exchanging locations are within the same strip (19 pesos per dollar dont take less ) Parking is fairly easy most of the time is on site unless they are full in which case they will send you next door) Trash pick up is very convenient (they will pick it up at your door) The apartment complex itself has a tennis court, a large pool seemingly divided into 3 sections, one of them has a bar (only for people paying for the ALL inclusive package ) you CANT buy food or drinks on site. However, you can choose to purchase the bracelet that allows you to eat and drink all day for 82 dollars per person per day. They have a Gym on site but only allows 4 people in at the time and opens at 6 but really opens at 8;) They do the covid test right there on site for 28 dollars (they will even print it out for you to show at the Airport) Right across the street there are two great restaurants on the water (recommend having dinner there, the subsets are amazing… and they play live music) The penthouse in my personal opinion as a mom of two is a great place for a family whose kids are older. Why do i say that? Well, the balconies are very dangerous,AND the stairs … well we had a scare they are the circular type and each step has a pretty big gap on the side, big enough for a 2 and a 4 year old to fall through. (Wish we knew about this stairs beforehand) in there states this stairs will definitely be a violation of code. Not good for kids or older people. Also, the top floor windows seem to not close properly so if it rains and you are sleeping on the couch you will get wet (happened to by 4 year old who was sleeping on the couch in our bedroom) Also, the windows are easily open so if you have curious kids as i do you CANT leave them alone to look out the window because they will fall out. Saying this its a good place to stay. They will provide you with basic cleaning supplies, towels and wont change your sheets. However, they do have a washer and dryer (just buy detergent and do it yourself. Locations is great a bit away from the Cancun Tourist noice yet close enough to enjoy and feel like you are in paradise. Best thing about the place: Views, location, space ( not necessarily the way bathrooms are but the actual number of rooms) Enjoy your stay.see more
