This property is everything and more! The pictures on the website are very accurate and up to date! This was a family vacation and the first time we rented a house. There were 13 of us and there was more than enough space! We could all eat breakfast and dinner together! The mountain and lake views could be seen from almost every room in the house! The kids enjoyed the games and the Ping pong and pool tables.
You will definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle and there are lots of stairs in the house. The only negative was the heating system was set for colder weather and so the first night was like a sauna for the master bedroom. Opening windows solved the problem but we couldn't really enjoy the beautiful fire places.

My family and I decided to rent Cave Rock for our New Year's Eve retreat at South Lake Tahoe. We had already visited the property in early Fall, so we knew it was a first class location for our family. The property did not disappoint, and neither did the 3 feet of fresh snow that fell during our stay. But as excited as we were for the snow, please let this review be a caveat to anyone wishing to rent during the Winter Season. The climb up Cave Rock Drive require a vehicle with 4 Wheel Drive at a minimum (my son's Mustang - he lives in Sacramento - was unable to make it up the road and had to be parked at one of the casinos). Additionally, you will be spending some time shoveling snow from the driveway; therefore, please keep both the drive and the snow maintenance in mind before your rent. Having said that, the views and the spaciousness of this property cannot be beat, it is truly amazing...The Rodriguez Clan

The house is great & beautiful views. We had a few issues to begin with starting with the front lock which we experienced trouble with all week. Also, we were told by caretaker that the house was booked back to back so a few cleaning issues. No hot water in one bath. Caretaker resolved all these items & was very responsive. Overall, great exoerience.
“wonderful house and location, great for large families/groups”

The house was wonderful with beautiful views and plenty of room for people to spread out and get some alone time when necessary. Large kitchen/dining area was perfect for large family dinners. The only negative (and it was a minor one) was the low level of paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, etc) throughout the house. We had to purchase replacements.

My wife and I rented this home for 5 nights in early March, 2010. We were interested to know how it would work for us plus our adult children and spouses assuming that they could arrange to take vacation at the same time.
Pluses: This is a nearly new home, and it has a spacious feel with high ceilings on the main floor. The kitchen is large with a very large center island. All rooms are generous in size.
Minuses: The home appears to have been designed and decorated on a slim budget. The master bath has the best view of the lake. That space should have been the master bedroom or the main floor family room. A doorway from the master bath to the bedroom has no actual door, so as morning comes, light through bathroom windows floods through this doorway directly onto the master bed, a very annoying situation. Window coverings in the master bedroom are very low quality, and the curtain rod falls off its brackets easily. The home has a two car garage below the master bedroom end of the house, but one side is filled with "stuff" so can't be used for car parking. Because of the angle of the second garage door, if the "stuff" were removed, only a small car will fit through the door. We couldn't find the thermostat to lower temperature in the master bedroom suite, so it was overly warm at night.
Location of this home is handy for visitors to Tahoe, particularly if coming from the north. The home is on the mountain side of Highway 50, about 1/4 mile south of Cave Rock tunnel in Cave Rock Estates. It takes about 20 minutes to drive from this home to the Stagecoach Lift at Heavenly.
While we would rent this home again, we would first look at other equally large homes in the area.
