About Agadir
Agadir looks out across the Atlantic Ocean, and isn’t too far from Casablanca. The city was born anew after an earthquake struck in 1960, making it a modern and exciting destination for you to explore.
Not much is known about the ancient of history of Agadir. Though we do know that the Portuguese once founded a trading post and a fort there, these have since vanished and are considered a mystery by locals.
Agadir is now considered Morocco’s premier destination for sun and sand, though the city has lots to offer, too. This is the perfect spot for families, as you have all you need within walking distance. Especially if you pick a FlipKey property near the marina!
While you're there, definitely try some of the local food. It's delicious! Try tagine at the roadside cafes for a real taste of Morocco... Kefta is our favorite!
What to do
You must visit as many of the iconic beaches as possible. Relax on the sand, ride a camel or even try your hand at watersports! There is so much to do, that a week may not be enough!
Next, we suggest taking a stroll along the seafront promenade. You'll have a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, and a great selection of restaurants and street vendors to choose from.
Get your souvenirs and some tasty treats at the Souk El Had d'Agadir. Exotic and interesting shops line the winding streets of this busy marketplace. See if you can find something unique to take home with you.
A rare survivor of the 1960 earthquake, you must go visit the Kasbah - a relic of old Morocco. It was first built in 1541, and still stands offering superb views from the top of the hill. It's definitely not to be missed.
