Riverview House is an exclusive new villa atop a hill on the banks of the Madu Ganga river near Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka. The house guarantees complete privacy and tranquility in a spectacular natural setting. The three tiered garden provides arresting panoramic views of the river as does the 15m infinity pool that bisects the garden. Each of the three luxury bedroom suites has direct garden access while 2 of the rooms have private verandahs.

Riverview House is quietly situated on the banks of the Madu Ganga River amongst possibly one of the last remaining tracts of pristine mangrove forest in Sri Lanka yet within 45 minutes of Colombo courtesy of the new Expressway.
The 915 hectare Estuary is connected by two channels to the Randombe Lake and forms a complex coastal wetland eco system that opens to the Indian Ocean. 770 hectares of the total area consist of open water while the remaining 145 hectares are the islands.
Recent expressway developments now mean that unspoilt destinations such as these are for the first time within 45 minutes of the capital Colombo. Now you can escape to the country with convenience. This property is a get away from it all luxury residence on the river and delta known as the Madu Ganga. Despite the rapid development in the country most people living in and around the Madu Ganga still engage in traditional methods of catching fish such as floating rods and small nets, often from single paddled canoes.. Shrimp farming also employs the traditional use of separators made from bamboo.

Like most first time visitors to Sri Lanka our immediate priority was to find beach locations. However, in an island of contrasts we are very glad we took the advice to also experience a luxury secluded villa in unspoiled countryside - albeit one only 10 minutes from the beach.
We received an incredibly warm welcome from the team and revelled in the space and comfort. The dining far exceeded our expectations, meals taken at a leisurely pace with such attention to detail (my wife has allergies which were very well catered for). Having a drink on the terrace overlooking the river was so tranquil, no better way to pass the time.
We wish our stay at The Riverview house could have been longer and plan to return for longer next time so that we can use the villa as a base to do some touring - the team had some brilliant ideas for things to do in the area, all incredibly accessible after the completion of the new road from Columbo.
My wife and I would highly recommend a trip to The River House either as a couple or for a larger family group.

This beautiful Villa in ambalangoda is located very nice. You can see the river and around are old big trees and so quiet that you can hear the birds.
There are three luxury rooms in old Colonial Style with separate bathrooms.
The rooms are big with very nice antique furniture and very clean.
The living and dinning room are situated with an open courtyard.
You feel very comfortable and like at home.
The staff is extraordinary friendly and they gave us always a welcome feeling.
We stayed there for a weekend with our two little kids.
They enjoyed the big swimming pool and the garden.
We loved to stay there and we are sure we will come back.
