This condo was the perfect place to share with our family. Beautiful views over pool to ocean. The condo is tastefully decorated and has everything you need for a short or long stay. Private location, yet short drive to restaurants and other beaches. Will definitely go back.

MinnesotaSt. Croix experience
Left on 03/18/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I brought my 2 teen age daughters and my mother on vacation to St. Croix and we stayed at Calypso Condo. It really was the perfect spot. The atmosphere while we were there was quiet and relaxing. We had no fear of leaving my mother while we went off to try some Caribbean adventures, and when we wanted to just relax, it was the perfect setting. The entire resort area, including Calypso Condo was very clean. The condo was tastefully decorated, and extremely well stocked with everything we needed or wanted. The owners are obviously very thoughtful in their approach to renting their condo. I have no hesitation in recommending a stay here if you are visiting St. Croix. We had a great vacation and hope to go back!

A two story, three bedroom unit is just perfect for a three generation vacation, isn't it? Thank you so much for the lovely review.

My family of 6 with preteen children went to Calypso Condo for a week. We loved everything about it. It was immaculate, well stocked right down to the blender for our pina coladas. My kids used the basketball area, ping pong, shuffle board and putting green as well as the golf clubs for a round of golf. The pool was fantastic and open all hours which was nice to jump in at night. I would reccomend this unit to everyone. I have traveled to many islands and many homes and condos, this condo has it all. We met many other owners/renters but it was never crowded. We also loved the beach shack, great food and great price as well as very friendly cooks. The location was also optimal, 15 min to town, 10 min to Cane bay. You will love your stay at calypso Condo.

Thanks so much for a great review. And I'm really glad that the kids could put the golf clubs to good use. It's nice for them to be able to play without having to pay for the use of the course and our four holes are surprisingly well maintained aren't they? I also think it's nice that so many people notice and appreciate the optimal location between Christiansted and Cane Bay. We hope to see you back again next year.

Indianapolis, IndianaGreat family vacation!
Left on 01/18/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Calypso Condo. It's nicely furnished and decorated, and provided more than ample space for the six adults in our group. Aside from the great living area (for together time) and the three bedrooms (for a bit of space when needed) it also had a nice-sized, well-stocked kitchen, plus several areas for relaxing outside. The condo grounds, pool and beach were also kept clean and orderly, making for a very pleasant and relaxing environment.
We also liked the fact that the condo has many things which - simply put - made our time in St. Croix remarkably enjoyable. For example: a nice washer/dryer so we always had clean clothes/towels, thoughtful items like short beach chairs and coolers that were used as we lazed on the St. Croix beaches, and lots of beach towels so we never ran out. Usually when we stay at a rental we find ourselves mentally making a list of items that the owner has forgotten or neglected to include. At Calypso Condo though, we'd be hard pressed to come up with anything we felt was missing.
We'd recommend Calypso Condo to anyone, the only caveat would be that you should get a rental car if you decide to stay here. The location is great for privacy and peace/quiet, but you'll be glad to have a car when you want to explore the island, get groceries for your stay or go out for dinner.
We were extremely glad we stayed there and would certainly come back again - it made for a wonderful vacation.Response from Barbara Flanagan - 01/18/2013

Boston, MAReally a great place to stay
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This Condo was so well maintained. It had many amenities (more than necessary). The place was much larger than it appeared on the website and much more beautiful than it was portrayed in the pictures. Barbara and Bob thought about everything that would be needed for our stay. We have stayed in many condos prior to this but this is definitely on top of our list. We would recommend it to our friends and family. The area that the condo is in is so relaxing and peaceful. The grounds were well kept, the pool was great, the snack shack had great food and drinks, the beach was really nice (not rocky at all) and the rec center was a great place for my son and his friends to hang out. The surrounding places to eat were all good; Pirate's Tavern, Off the Wall, Eat at Cane Bay, Above the Cliff to name a few. The Buck Island tour with Miles from Caribbean Sea adventures is a must along with the Cruzan Rum Factory. We did go see the Whim Plantation but not really worth the ten dollars we each paid to get the tour which lasted about 10 minutes. We went to a few supermarkets and liked most but didn't like Stop and Shop in Fredericksted. Puebleo Market did not have a deli which was a disappointment since the young adults love ham sandwiches. If any one is contemplating on heading to St. Croix and need to stay at a wonderful place, don't hesitate to reserve the Calypso Condo. It is worth the price. Barbara and Bob have everything there (lots of tennis rackets, snorkeling gear, two sets of golf clubs, lots of books to read, videos to watch, etc). Thanks again, Barbara and Bob.

The Calypso Condo is a perfect island home away from home. It comfortably accommodated our family reunion of five adults and one child. The rooms are commodiously large; the kitchen and community rooms are well laid out and comfortable, the views from the balconies are beautiful. The unit is beautifully appointed with lovely art work on the walls and elegant furnishings. The kitchen works well for light or serious cooking. The condo is conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed every minute of our time at Gentle Winds and I highly recommend it.

My family and I couldn't be more pleased with our choice of c2 at gentle winds. The grounds are so expansive and the condos are very spread out, it was more like a resort. Barbara has gone above and beyond with her lavish redo of her condo, everyone had their own bathroom (and with teenagers this was heaven). Not to mention all the extras Barbara thought of to provide for her guest. We literally drove from one end of the island to the other and saw most all other rentals, Gentle Winds by far has the best location , set away from town right off a winding road that overlooks the ocean. The pool was huge and pristine and the beach was totally private. If you go this is where you should stay. the Campers

I'd never thought of it before, but it is the perfect location. On the water, not far from town, spread out units and private beach with a sand bottom swimming and snorkeling area.

My large extended family gathered for 10 days from 6/29-7/9, all staying in different units at Gentle Winds. I've been to Gentle Winds twice before, and always love seeing our unit for the first time. Calypso Condo does not disappoint in any way. My parents, my husband and our 3 children all stayed in the unit. With 3 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and a sofabed, we were all comfortable with sleeping arrangements (and personal space).
Calypso Condo (C-2) is bright, colorful and has all modern amenities, but embraces its locale. We loved the local art work, updated kitchen and views of palm trees, the resort, and the sea.
The recreational toys in storage came in handy, as we used the tennis rackets, snorkeling masks, coolers, rafts, etc. We brought nothing but our bathing suits and some casual clothes to wear to occasional dinners out. A favorite local haunt is eat at cane bay. We went three times in that one week!
Gentle Winds is like a jewel that you want everyone to behold, but at the same time, want to keep its' brilliance all to yourself. We rose almost every morning and hit the tennis courts by 7:30, all ages in tow. We lounged, poolside or seaside, cooling off frequently. Our children and their cousins spent hours playing ping-pong and in hermit crab alley. The shack kept us hydrated and satisfied with daily drink and food specials. Our favorite was the Gentle Windy (and the virgin fruit smoothie for the kids!)
Thank you, Barbara, for the special touches like the champagne, soft bed linens and plastic cocktail glasses. Our stay on St. Croix is never long enough, but even now, weeks later, I still feel the trade winds on my face and hear the palm branches swaying in the breeze. I hope to return to Calypso again.

I'm so glad the toys and sports equipment came in handy. I'm also glad that all the original art work (wood carvings, iron work, oil paintings) were appreciated. We have an original glass sculpture of a wave called "Tsunami" coming and I can't wait to see it home in the Caribbean.

We really loved this place--felt like home. The location was perfect--a few miles from Christiansted yet quiet & tranquil. Very clean & comfortable. The beach has a reef & there's snorkeling equipment at the condo. There's also a beach bar with great food & rum punch. If you have younger kids there are copious amounts of hermit crabs on the west side of the common area. You must take the Buck Island tour with Captain Carl, feed the beer-drinking pigs in the rain forest, spend the day at Rainbow Beach @ Rhythyms and visit Carambola Beach (breathtaking beach where they filmed the final scene from the movie "Trading Places."). Overall, the beauty, cleanliness, location & hospitality of Barbara made this an a perfect vacation.

So glad it felt like home and not an impersonal hotel. And thanks for the hint about the location of the hermit crabs. They would be perfect for the crab race track painted by the recreation room.

The condo is great. My family of 4 stayed here the beginning of June and will be back. That's the highest amount of praise you can give a place, right? The beds were comfortable, we had plenty of room to spread out, and the owner has thought of many "small" details to make the stay better. There are board games, pool toys, and beach essentials to make your stay a good one. My kids loved the Wii in the afternoon while my wife and I took a nap. It's an easy walk to the pool and beach and we liked being able to order lunch each day at the pool snack shack. Overall, a great experience and I highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Gentle Winds is the perfect location for a tropical vacation in the summer time; quiet, private, and with safe water...no cross currents or undertows.. Many families come back year after year to the same unit for a true home away from home feeling. We'll look forward to having you back next year.

This place is better than a 5 star resort! After a long flight we were so pleased and delighted with everything. We entered the condo and felt at home. The condo is modern but so warm and inviting. It is decorated with the beach and island of St. Croix touches everywhere. We also were surprised, appreciated and enjoyed the extra welcoming touches that were waiting for us. The binder with information concerning the condo, resort, and the helpful hints about the island was very helpful. It made us feel secure in venturing out. My in laws that have been to the island several times liked the binder also. The condo was bright and clean. Every bedroom was comfortable, beautiful and had a ceiling fan. The kitchen was modern and the wood bar with the granite countertops was perfect combination. They were so many extras like Wii & movies that my husband and I with our four young adult children enjoyed. We felt that this is a place that a family with younger children would enjoy also. The full size washer and dryer is a welcome touch, so pack light.
Gentle Winds is a great community with its private beach and pool. The beach shack for lunch and island flavored drinks were the best.
St. Croix has many things to offer such as the Tan Tan Tour, a great way to learn about the island. Cruzan Rum Tour was a great memory. Casual dining was what my family loved best. Our family, with 13 people, was in St. Croix for my nephew and new niece's wedding and we were felt welcomed everywhere we went. So very friendly.
Barbara was so helpful when planning our trip. Any emails with questions concerning the condo were answered quickly. She is the perfect hostess and thought of so many "little" personal touches.
When we come back to St. Croix, we will be staying in "Unit C-2" our home away from home. It was perfect. The only thing that we didn't like was leaving.Response from Barbara Flanagan - 06/25/2012

"Home away from home" is exactly the feeling we want our guests to have. We try to provide everything that you would have in your own home..with the addition, of course, of beach, palm trees and tropical breezes!

Left on 06/18/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We had a great stay at this very well equipped and well kept condo. May is a perfect time to visit St Croix - it is not crowed and the weather is perfect. The Gentle Winds complex is on the beautiful north shore, about 5 miles west of Christiansted and right next to the Salt River National Park. The Salt River Marina is a 5 minute walk or 2 minute drive - you can go out on a dive boat or rent a kayak and the restaurant is perfect for lunch or an early dinner. The complex has a large pool and a nice beach with good snorkeling. The condo was in 'like new' condition with lots of extras ! With 2 bedrooms and 2 baths downstairs and a master bedroom & bath suite upstairs, there is lots of room for family or friends. Barbara, the owner, was very easy and accommodating to deal with by phone and email and she made sure there were some welcoming gifts at the condo when we arrived. We really enjoyed the north-shore of St Croix. Gentle Winds is a 10 minute drive from Cane Bay, a fabulous spot for snorkeling and scuba diving. There are 4 or 5 restaurants in this area - all are surprisingly good - especially Eat at Cane Bay and Waves at Cane Bay. We highly recommend this condo at Gentle Winds !
Response from Barbara Flanagan - 06/20/2012

Guests are always delighted with the quality of the food and restaurants on the North Shore, I'm glad you were too. I'm also glad the "like new" feel came through. I can't wait to get back down to enjoy the granite counter tops and new free form bar-top made from a mahogany tree felled on the island during Hurricane Hugo.

We had a wonderful time at Gentile Winds. The condo was perfect for our family, with the beach and pool so close. Snorkeling was great 20 yards off the beach, lots of fish and clear blue water. We enjoyed all the activities including golf, shuffleboard, ping pong, and hermit crab races. The poolside snack hut had great food and drinks. The condo was outfitted with everything needed. We would definitely recommend C-2 to anyone interested in an island adventure. Also, take the Tantan jeep tour. The guides show you the island with alot of information, in a relaxed way. Don't miss the beer drinking pigs

My husband and I stayed at the condo for ten days with my daughter, son in-law, and 5 year old grandson. The three bedroom condo was perfect for us, as we each had a bedroom and bathroom. There is space for privacy with multiple outdoor balconies to enjoy both in the daytime and discovering stars at night. The kitchen was well equipped with everything one has at home for cooking, as we cooked all of our meals during our stay. One could not want more with your own private beach, large pool, beautiful grounds and golf course. Barbara, the owner was wonderful making the arrangements and even checked on us to see if we were doing okay. Don't miss out on this wonderful property and opportunity to discover St. Croix.

Barbara seemed to think of everything from movies to books to Wii games and picnic & beach supplies. You really don't need to venture out of the condo complex for much. With 3 children, it was terrific to be able to go out & do a short bit of sight-seeing, then come back to relax in the pool or snorkel at the ocean beach. The condo is spacious enough that we all (4 adults, 3 kids) were able to find quiet areas when need be. A truly relaxing vacation!

We had a great experience staying at this Beach condo. Everything was extremely comfortable and convenient - from the bedding, condo layout and location on the Island to the quiet appliances. A washer and dyer is a must, when you are right by the beach. Hearing the surf every morning is ideal! The resort is almost non-existent, execpt to provide a ping pong table, shutle board and bocci balls, which we played everyday with anybody willing, Great way to meet people. Don at the Tiki Hut was perfect. We hung out there alot. He even cooked for the six of us a wonderful steak dinner after hours one night. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We have traveled down to St. Croix, Gentle Winds for 7 years running now, and our stay in unit C-2 was everything (and more) than what we hoped for...perhaps the best. The sound of the wind and ocean is constant, and the accommodations do nothing but let you relax and enjoy the very private white -sand beach, tropical and warm pool (newly refurbished), and plan where you might eat in the evening. We are from the mid-west and hunger for the fresh catch of the day, available from the fish market in town. Beaches in St. Croix are all public, so make sure you find your way to Cane Bay, Buck Island, or even some more secluded areas near the East end by Point Udall--the eastern-most point in the us. We feel safe here, and are able to get whatever we need from the nearby super markets and various stores on the island. Don't come to St. Croix if your idea is to "be on the go"...bring books, many, many books. (Although many people will leave very interesting books for the next person in the beach house--very convenient!) This unit is very comfortable, and void of anything unpleasant. The owners take careful consideration to make your stay as stress-free as possible. Look forward to a well-appointed kitchen, clean bathrooms, and tropical, comfortable commons rooms. The owners have taken the time to put a very helpful binder together to help you find what is around. There is something for everyone here, from 8 months to 80, and we have seen all ages here. Drive on the left, don't over-pack, and leave your phone at home. Come, relax, and see what the colors of the caribbean have to offer..

Thanks for all the kind words. We too believe that St. Croix is a great island for vacations. The locals make you feel welcome and it is completely non-touristy, not to mention warm and green with a backdrop of turquoise water. We are doing our best to make our condo/villa as much like a five star hotel as possible. Well maybe not five star as we don't have a hair dresser or room service but you know what I mean. We are always open for suggestions and always adding amenities. We hope to see you back next year.

What a treat to vacation with friends at this beautiful spot! The setting was like an instant relaxation beam. The condo was comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully furnished. Flowers and champagne greeted us and we easily settled in and got ready to enjoy fun and relaxation. Our hosts even furnished toys to enjoy the beach and tennis rackets to help us let off steam.
Although the pool was under repair, snorkeling from the beach in warm waters can't be beat! It was a real treat to see the lights of a passing cruise ship in the predawn hours. The island offers so many interesting attractions, we will definitely be coming back to explore, and enjoy all the comforts of home at this well maintained condo.Response from Barbara Flanagan - 03/02/2012

It’s nice to know that you found Gentle Winds to be as relaxing as we do. Especially in the summer, we like to plop down on the beach under a palapa and just read with the trade winds keeping us cool. Our next project here at Calypso Condo is having a custom bar top made out of island mahogany from a tree that was felled twenty-five years ago during Hurricane Hugo. I do hope you’ll be here again next year to enjoy our latest project.

We stayed in unit C2 at the Gentle Winds Condo resort. The condo was steps away from a sandy beach where one could comfortably spend the day. From the second floor balcony of the unit one has a beautiful view of the beach. Every night we slept in the second floor bedroom with the sliding glass doors open listening to the waves crash on the shore. You could get sandwiches and drinks at a reasonable price at the beach shack located right on the beach. Bring cash because they do not accept debt cards much to the amazement of my city daughters.
The three bedroom condo was spacious enough so a family of five did not get in each others way. The condo was equipped with many of your homes amentities so cooking went smoothly. The people of St. Croix were all very friendly to us. We especially like to thank the property manager who was always available. She sent us information about St. Croix that helped us navigate the area when we arrived. This helped decrase any anxiety one may have about driving on the left, and trying to naviagate the area with lack of signs of the road. We also arrived to find a palm tree with Christmas lights on it. All and all it was a great trip.Response from Barbara Flanagan - 03/02/2012

I’m so glad you enjoyed the sound of the surf at night. I find that I sleep better down here than at home and I often wonder if it’s due to the constant sound of the waves. As you know, we are always trying to up-grade Calypso Condo (C-2) and I thought that you might like to know that we will be replacing all of the bath and kitchen cabinets and adding granite counters. I do hope you will be back with us next year and can enjoy the upgrades.
