St. John, USVI, Blue Agave Villa, 4 bedroom, dazzling sea view, pool, Cruz Bay

Cruz Bay villa

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 9

“Awesome View” We spent a week at the Blue Agave with 3 other couples. The set up was perfect as each couple had their own private bedroom and bath. When choosing a house for our vacation our main concerns was having master suites for all couples. Three of the suites had king beds and the fourth bedroom had a queen. That was all perfect. The other main concern was having a home that had a covered deck so we all would not crisp. Well this house was excellent for shade. There was a beautiful spacious deck with pool and lots of covered space so that no one had to sit in the sun unless they wanted to be. There were two tables under the shade area so plenty of room to eat any meals outside while enjoying the beautiful view. Always a nice cool breeze outside under the covered veranda area. We enjoyed watching the sugar birds come and go. Very entertaining. We put sugar on a plastic plate and set it on a post and had constant entertainment from the sugar birds. We would enjoy renting this home again if we should ever get back to St. John.

Coral Bay cottage

“A great place to stay!” Engaging with Judy Kane right from the start was fantastic. Her sage advice on how best to prepare for our trip with hints as to where to shop, car rentals, ferries and what to expect once we arrived let us know we had landed with a winner. She is a delight; fun loving, outgoing and concerned without being overbearing. The cottage is charming, better in person than the photos on line. It's breathtaking to sit on the deck with mountains that surround you. Birds are everywhere. We spent quite a bit of time reading, enjoying the scenery. The house itself is well stocked with every kind of device you might wish for - TV, DVD player, internet connection, books, games and even iPod speakers. The amount of information Judy has accumulated - a mammoth loose leaf filled with news clippings and articles along with books published about the area - provided us with recommendations for activities to keep us delighted. Each day, we struck out to a different beach to discover new sea life and coral formations we never would have found on our own. Having a car is a must. Judy made that clear to me. We were concerned about driving on the left and the narrow roads. It isn't for the faint of heart, but if you drive slowly and ignore the locals who might honk at you, you will soon adapt. I felt like I was on a freeway by the time I drove in St. Thomas to get back to the airport. I can't wait to return next year. St. John never disappoints me and Lower Carolina makes it even more alluring.

Altagracia: Stunning Sunsets!

Cruz Bay villa

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Paradise” This was our 3rd visit to St. John and will not be our last. Altagracia was wonderful. The house was so comfortable. Everything was perfect, the pool, the bedrooms, the decks, everything!!! The kitchen is fully equipped with everything one needs. The bedrooms are spacious. The views from the deck were breathtaking. We loved the fact that the home was close to Cruz Bay. Catered To Management is a very professional group of people, especially Jason. We needed something and he took care of it immediately. Our greeter Michelle was a very special person. Not only did she recommend us to take a day sail on Kekoa, but she followed through with a call to tell us the schedules and who to contact. We all have very special memories from that sail! All in all, we will definitely return to St. John and would love to stay at altagracia! Thanks to all of you for a very special vacation.

La Bella Vita: Sunset Views Year Round!

St. John villa

4 bedrooms / 5 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Extraordinary home with ever changing views” Our group of six has been traveling to Usvi for 6 years. We have worked with Catered To for four of those years and they are the best. In the planning stages for this trip my conversations with Catered To were very helpful. They weren't just interested in renting any property, they wanted us to have the best possible experience. This is our first stay at La Bella Vita and we give it an a+ rating. The views were magnificent especially in the mornings when the sun was coming up and in the evenings during sundown. The colors and the views were constantly changing. They can't be described. The villa was very comfortable and stocked with all the amenities that we needed. We would have liked to see more lounge chairs around the pool and more comfortable outdoor furniture but overall it is on our list as a return property.

Coral Bay Eco Retreat:Tropical Living Off the Grid, Hike to Beach!

Coral Bay cottage

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 2

“Self-contained, off-the-grid mountaintop luxury with a view” Anyone who thinks living off the grid requires sacrifice of comfort clearly hasn't stayed here. Your water is provided by the rain. Your electricity is provided by the sun. A huge deck, cushy living spaces with beds in open air... windows? There aren't any. Shower? Outside. Yes, the toilets flush. And the view is a never-ending masterpiece of sea and sky. Complete privacy here on the mountain top. No neighbors.. except for an occasional island donkey. If you like quiet, romantic places, this is it. The stairs up are steep so if you can't climb, don't come here. But if you can climb stairs, you need to try this place, one of the cheapest luxuries on St. John. and one of the most powerful boosts for the soul one can imagine.

“A Beautiful House In a Beautiful Place!!” Beit Hawa was a beautiful place to be! The views were great, and the house was elegant, casual, comfortable, and well-equipped. It was a special and relaxing place to come back to after a day at the beach, or just to hang out all day. It couldn't have been nicer! The folks at Catered To were also great...they made everything easy, from greeting us at the ferry to providing information and advice. We can't wait to go back!!

Mooncottage: Most Romantic St. John Petite Luxury Villa in peaceful Coral Bay

Coral Bay villa

2 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“The PERFECT Honeymoon” There truly are not enough positive ways to sum up our 10 nights at Mooncottage. From the very beginning, Brian was a tremendous help as we were researching locations to spend our honeymoon. He made sure to provide us any local "tips" we would need so that there were no surprises along the way. It's hard to trust all of the incredible review online (can Mooncottage really be THAT amazing?!) - but they are all true! The home is beautiful - pictures don't even begin to do justice to the stunning views - and the amount of space was perfect for the 2 of us. We wanted a honeymoon location where we could just relax and never feel like we were on a schedule, and Mooncottage provided the perfect accommodations for that. We spent mornings and nights just taking in all of the scenery below us, and spent our days visiting different beaches, restaurants, and bars each day. We came to embrace the (very bumpy) drive up/down the road to the house, and it's really kind of fun once you get used to it! The privacy is well worth the short extra drive -- and we loved being in Coral Bay on the less populated end of the island. We've already passed the name of the home along to a few of our friends who are looking for a special getaway -- and we can't wait to go back ourselves!

“Week in paradise!” Our stay in the Little Palm Suite was wonderful! The suite was exactly as described in the posting and was accurately displayed in the photos. The view of Fish Bay off the deck was amazing! It was a beautiful sight to look forward to every morning. The suite was very clean and well-stocked with necessities. Both the inside and outside (grounds) at the suite were extremely well-maintained. We appreciated having beach towels and beach chairs provided for us to use for our daily trip(s) to the beaches. Michael was a wonderful host! The information he provided to prior to our trip was extremely helpful as we made our plans. He was so helpful to us during our stay as well with directions and with restaurant and beach recommendations. We enjoyed all of the restaurants that he recommended. Our personal favorites were the Sun Dog Cafe for breakfast/lunch and the Lime Inn and Fish Trap for dinner. We loved being able to eat every meal outside for an entire week! The ice cream shop at the end of Mongoose Junction was also a favorite. Our favorite north side beaches were Hawksnest (smaller and not very busy) and Trunk Bay (busier, but so beautiful and picturesque). We really enjoyed the laid-back pace on St. John and had a truly relaxing week. I really enjoyed staying a little bit outside of Cruz Bay and the location in Fish Bay was perfect. We would highly recommend Little Palm Suite! Thank you, Michael for sharing your home with us and for helping us enjoy our week in paradise!

Eco Friendly Beachfront Villa

Virgin Islands National Park villa

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Great House and Setting” I agree with every positive comment made by others. This was our second year of staying at Reef Bay. There were 6 of us, including four teenage girls. There is so much living space! The design is remarkable. Our days were full: from hiking to the petroglyphs, swimming at the nearby beach (quietest scenic beach that you'll ever see), and sampling the island's beautiful north shore beaches. The house is a nature lovers dream, looking over the National Park. The owner and caretaker were always quick to answer any questions I had leading up to our visit. After arriving, we never needed help because we had no problems!

Mango Bay: Amazing North Shore Views!

St. John villa

4 bedrooms / 5 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Lovely home” This was our second time to stay at Mango Bay. The house is still as lovely as ever. A previous reviewer had said the outside furniture was in poor condition, but we found it to be in excellent shape. It is all teak, and has the natural weathered look, but still very solid. The rest of the house is still immaculate. Other than losing power a couple of nights, late at night, we had no problems with the house. Just an FYI, the only cell service available up on that side of the island appears to be with at&T.; Neither Verizon or T-Mobile worked, except down in Cruz Bay. Our biggest problem was transportation. We booked at the last moment, and got a jeep rental from a group I had not used before. I had to change a flat tire on the first vehicle we got, after it went flat over the first night at the house. The second vehicle was in pretty rough shape, but got us around. The road up to Catherineburg from the main Centerline road is much rougher that I remember from our last two stays up there. Definitely requires a jeep vehicle. I did not dare to drive down to the north beach road, as that has always been a much rougher drive. But the view from the house every day, and the wonderful breezes up there make everything else worth it.

Mystic Ridge

St. John villa

4 bedrooms / 5 bathrooms / sleeps 10

“Close to Heaven at Mystic Ridge!” What a wonderful place to vacation -- easy to get to and parking is much easier than I have previously experienced on St. John. Views are breathtaking and vary from day to day and from day to night. Sort of in the middle of St. John which makes accessing all beaches so easy. Accommodations were extremely comfortable and way more than adequate. Cooking-friendly kitchen and great outdoor and indoor dining choices. Restaurants are easy to reach at Cruz Bay or Coral Bay. Would definitely consider staying there again! Island Getaways, Inc. is very service oriented. Go and enjoy!

White Seagull SALE NOW

Cruz Bay villa

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Spectacular View and Wonderful Hospitality!” We just returned from a wonderful 8-day stay in the White Seagull, at "Just For Two" on St. John. This was a return trip for us, having stayed there, last May, as well. We rarely return to the same location, preferring to seek new adventures. This was a rare exception and a testimony to the wonder of this place - both St. John and Jacqueline's hospitality. The room is wonderfully decorated and comfortable, with 270 degree views of the Caribbean. We overlook Great Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole from our windows, with views of St. Thomas from the Sky Lounge. It's amazing to wake to the early sunrise and see the ocean view, by simply sitting up in the bed. We took wonderful photos of the sunsets from the rooftop Sky Lounge and our location near the top of a mountain, overlooking the island. Jacqueline readily gave us access to her private patio, as well, providing wonderful views of Great Cruz Bay and relaxing surroundings to talk or simply play cards, in paradise! The room is well decorated with antiques and personal items. There was good Wi-Fi access and a TV with limited channels, but we rarely used them. A fireplace was available, but we can't imagine using it, except in the dead of "winter"! The room offers a small kitchenette, suitable for simple breakfasts or lunch preparation. There is access to a grill in the courtyard, as well. However, we mostly enjoyed the wonderful food at all the restaurants on the island. You definitely need to rent a car and we have had great experience with Courtesy Rental. The roads are steep, somewhat narrow and you get the challenge of driving on the left side. It's a challenge, but quickly becomes comfortable. The roads Just For Two are steep, but enjoyable. There is a back way that allows a "less steep" option, if it is rainy. Next year is our 25th anniversary and we are planning to return, yet again. It's hard to argue with perfection - especially for a milestone date.

TROPICAL ORCHID SALE NOW

Cruz Bay villa

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“spectacular views with affordable villa” My husband and I had wonderful time in the Tropical Garden villa we rented from Jacqueline. This is not the typical rental where you pick up your key and you're on your own. Jacqueline met us after we arrived on the ferry and rented our jeep to follow her up to the villa. Her home is part of the property to which her four rental villas are connected, and everything is well kept. She was so friendly and helpful providing advice and making sure we had everything we needed. By the end of the week, we had become friends. The Tropical Garden villa has a spectacular view overlooking Great Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole, and Heart Bay, which you can enjoy from the deck, living room and bedroom. It is on the lower level and has a secluded feeling. It has a full kitchen and a gas grill in the garden. There is a hot tub with a view that you can find at the end of the path through the tropical garden. The beach chairs and cooler that were provided were very much appreciated during our many outings to different gorgeous beaches every day. We have fond memories of waking up and seeing that incredible view and enjoying our breakfast on the deck. We also enjoyed staying in the White Seagull villa for the latter part of the trip when it was available. We would stay in either one again. Jacqueline went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. We were sad to leave but very happy to have a new friend in St. John!

Sunset Beach: Beachfront Villa!

Cruz Bay villa

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Fantabulous!!!” Catered To Vacations was very helpful during the planning stages of our "all girl vacation"!They kept us informed, answered all our many questions, and sent us great information about St John. They handled our rental car and upon arrival Michele met us as promised and guided us to our Villa.I will definately use their services again! We'll be back! Sunset Beach Villa lives up to it's name, the sunsets were beautiful! We loved our villa especially the pool area. The views were great and you could snorkle and swim as long as you had good water shoes!Watch the Bose sound system it is easy to play your music too loud, but a good way to meet your neighbors:)I would rent this Villa again! It is a perfect distance from Cruz Bay!Close enough for taxi service and not a bad drive for rookies! Blue Sky Provision Co. (Shanna Dickerson) did a great job provisioning our villa with food and beverage so we did not have to shop upon arrival. Made for a great birthday party! I would definately rate this whole vacation as wonderful!

"Happy Our" - Island vibe & terrific location, views, rates

Coral Bay house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Outstanding location for a family vacation!” "Happy Our" is a happy and comfortable home with a colorful island décor and two spectacular views - Coral Bay Harbor and Hurricane Hole. Amazing sunrises are a perfect way to start the day, the changing colors of the Caribbean throughout the day, and moonrises and a sky full of stars in the evening are equally beautiful. The location is great - close to all the great restaurants in Coral Bay and only a few minutes scenic drive in either direction to the most amazing beaches. Loved the snorkeling - turtles, fish, rays, you name it! The house had everything we needed and it is was perfect for our memorable family vacation. Plenty of space for everyone in the "great room" and on the deck, but lots of bedroom privacy too. This house is clean and well maintained and the property manager, Tom, is wonderful. Poi Pu St John Villa - great views & total privacy

Cruz Bay house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Lifetime Memories” My family and friends rented Poi Pu for a week this past June. We had an amazing time. We loved the rock double shower. Several nights we cooked dinner and everyone ate out on the deck what a beautiful experience. It was also located close to some of the most beautiful beaches ever. The house was very clean, great amenities, cozy, and we were comfortable. If we needed anything we could call the property management and they were prompt to offer advice or their services if needed. It was also the little things that made our stay like the beach accessories that we were able to use instead of having to rent them daily. Those costs could have added up quickly. A beautiful home with a beautiful view. We can't wait to return. Also we were traveling with our 10 month old daughter. She took her very first steps at Poi Pu. We made lasting memories for our family.

The Retreat - Stunning Secluded Oceanfront Villa

St. John villa

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 10

“Even better than expected” This villa was what I expected, except even more amazing. To begin with it is in excellent shape, and was remarkably clean on our arrival, and I am someone who is critical about those things in particular. The garage doors make it so that no matter where you are in the house you feel like you're outside. I don't think there was one thing that we looked for an couldn't find. The view is just remarkable. There are a couple of villas that are being constructed, but the construction noise is an occasional saw, or hammer, or some distant music, nothing that was at all disturbing. We ate mostly in Coral Bay because of proximity, although the drive to Cruz Bay was only about 30 minutes, so really not that bad on a lazy vacation. I am the ultimate mosquito magnet, and yes there were mosquitos, but nothing more than I expected. I was extremely pleased to find that all of the screens are in perfect shape, which I was a little nervous about. We left the screen to the courtyard closed all the time which I think helped, and also closed all the screens around dusk and dawn. It was really an incredible house. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on a return trip to St. John.

About St. John

About: Saint John

In the US Virgin Islands, you’ll find tiny, beautiful, and tropical Saint John. With a lush national park surrounded by white sand beaches on all coasts, endless watersports, friendly locals, a burgeoning culinary scene, shopping galore, and plenty of places to get your buzz on while relaxing – Saint John should top your list of places to visit in the coming years. Here’s a breakdown of everything you’ll need to know before you go:

History

A brief history of the island starts with sugar cane planation agriculture and the slave revolt in 1733 that left a quarter of the island’s population dead. The US bought it from Denmark in 1917, and John Rockefeller owned much of it by 1956. He donated it back to the US and it was declared a National Park, which is why most of the center of the island remains untouched and well preserved. Since then, tourism has exploded on this beautiful escape in the middle of a turquoise ocean.

Things to do

If you’re coming to Saint John and the Caribbean in general – your fun begins at the beaches. Hawksnest Beach has incredible scuba diving and snorkeling where you can see many species of fish. Trunk Bay is extremely popular, which is a good thing and bad thing. It is the most crowded area on the island, but perfect for people watching and sun bathing. Snorkel outside Water Lemon Cay where you’ll be closer to ocean life than anywhere else. Salmon Bay is a short hike away through the National Forest, and is worth the extra effort. Salt Pond Bay and Drunk Bay are two other must-visit beaches, and on Drunk Bay you’ll find eerie effigies of ‘human’ families made out of rocks, coral, and sticks left by tourists. Get to Cinnamon Bay early to ensure you’ll have access to a Jet Ski or scuba set.

Try out Maho Beach as well, a family-friendly environment with plenty to do. You’ll find boat charters all over the island for sunset cruises, deep-sea fishing, and much more adventure.

The most well known hike on the island is arguably along the Reef Bay Trail, a 4.9-mile route from Centerline Road to the beach below. The hike travels along the ruins of the Reef Bay Sugar Factory. A slightly easier hike takes you along the rocky trail on the Coral Bay side of the island. The trail brings hikers to the petroglyph pool, which features unique carvings most likely created by the Taino people, pre-Columbian islanders. The Ram Head Trail is a mountain hike that will leave you breathless, not just at the views either.

If you’re feeling wild, parasail or paraglide at one of the beaches or bays, or if you’re looking to live a bit of history, visit the Annaberg Sugar Plantation.

Transit

Even though Saint John is two-thirds national forest, that doesn’t mean it’s difficult to get around. Board a helicopter, water taxi, small charter plane or commercial airplane to jet from island to island, and there’s no passport required for U.S. citizens.

Car rentals are plentiful but remember two key things: you MUST drive on the left side of the road, and speed limits are 20mph at most. There are taxis available through three main companies – Paradise Taxi, Saint John Taxi Association, or Per Dohm’s. If you want to travel in style, book a limo through Executive One Limousines, Slimo’s, or Love City Limousines. There are also water taxis available for you.

Vitran operates air-conditioned buses over the length of the island. Buses leave Cruz Bay in front of the ferry terminal at 6am and 7am, then every hour at 25 minutes after the hour until 7:25pm. They arrive at Coral Bay about 40 minutes later.

From Saint John, it's easy to explore the rest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, as ferries and boats are constantly shuttling passengers back and forth. Ferries travel to Red Hook, Charlotte Amalie, and more leaving a few times per hour. Tickets are cheap at $5 for adults and $1 for children. If you've brought your passport along, you can also head to the nearby British Virgin Islands to enjoy an exclusive high-end holiday adventure.

Weather

Looking for perpetual summer? You’ll find it on any of the US Virgin Islands, and Saint John is no exception. The smallest and most protected island of them all experiences sunny days, infrequent showers, and gentle breezes every month of the year. Average weather during the summer season is 82 degrees Fahrenheit (though low 90s is typical too), with the winter dropping down to only 77 degrees. The gentle winds keep the weather from getting too hot or humid, and it remains just perfect, all year.

Rain showers are often short and typically occur early in the morning or at night. All day downpours over numerous days are not common. The driest months are typically February and March, and the wettest is November.

You may need to wear a jacket if you come during the winter, just a light one, for the early morning and late at night. Most of the time shops and restaurants will have AC on to combat the heat. The ocean temp is about 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, so swimmers can cool off but it is not going to stop anyone from jumping in!

Keep an eye on hurricane reports before you book your trip, but they are extremely rare and even if a storm event is happening in ‘the Caribbean’ it may not be anywhere close to Saint John.

Girls Trip......perfect!

Our condo was right on the beach......beautiful, turquoise waters! It was a perfect location for our " girls trip"! Each morning we enjoyed our coffee on the patio while watching the boats sail by.....evenings, same thing, but enjoyed our coconut rum! Condo was well appointed & clean....bed was very comfortable, hide a bed sofa might be ok for kids. Vicky, owner, checked on us often. Would definitely stay there again!see more

Island Horizons was wonderful; elegant, yet welcoming--a perfect base of operations for our week in St. John. Pool-Private Snorkeling Beach-Free Kayaks
Solitude and seclusion

My daughter and I came here looking for solitude and seclusion as I had just buried my three youngest children 2 months prior. I did not want to be in an area of heavy tourism or busy bars/restaurants, but rather a place that I could connect with nature to start healing. I could not nor would not want to find a more perfect villa than this one. Tucked high in the mountains surrounded by the beautiful flowers and trees of the national forest, and all the wildlife that goes along with it. The owners are absolutely wonderful, and to share a piece of their paradise is even more special. The villa has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The seclusion was wonderful. The view was breathtaking, and to be able to literally watch the sea turtles and sting rays from the deck was amazing. Snorkeling was like none other. We were there 12 days and ventured to several other beaches, but our secluded beach was the best hands down. Never saw so much diverse underwater life before. You will need to rent a jeep here, as you are at the very end of the road. There are only a half dozen restaurants within 20 minutes mountain driving. All of them were tasty and the locals were so nice. There is not a lot of tourism here, it is definitely like going out to the country. And everyone is on island time!see more
Eco-Friendly villa with Stunning Coral Bay views!
Best view on the island, house is nice but almost of secondary importance

My wife and I have been coming to St. John for years. For the first time ever, we rented the same villa for a second time, and the villa was Satinwood. We also brought another couple to share in the dream. We really like Satinwood for the balance of what it offers. It's not the fanciest villa on the island, and it does have some quirks that some people might not enjoy, such as self-composting toilets with no flush. No odor whatsoever. I say, if you want everything on a trip to be exactly like it is at home, then stay home. :) There, I got that out of the way. But the house is nice, and MORE than sufficient for the needs of anyone who enjoys the outdoor Caribbean life. Here's what we like about it: - Complete privacy at the unique plunge pool - Most stunning view on the island. Do not undervalue this point! - Perfect location if you enjoy both Cruz Bay and Coral Bay, not too far down the East End or South East. - The donkeys live in the Carolina neighborhood. We like donkeys. - Hilltop location means cool breezes - Solar powered/immune from island outages - 5 minutes to Maho, Love City Mini Mart, or Skinny Legs - Price is reasonable compared to some really pricey places with a far lesser view and pool. (Owners: if this ever changes, it will affect our choices - price matters!) Here's what we really didn't like about it: OK that section was short. Here's what some people might take issue with, but come on people, you should be outside anyway so who really cares!: - Kitchen a little dated - Appliances just good enough - Wi-Fi can be spotty If I cared about the quality of the countertops or cabinet doors, I would rate this a 4 star. But since what I care about is a great pool, stunning view, amazing location, fair price, and just the best darn setting in the Lesser Antilles, I rate it a 5 star and highly recommend Satinwood.see more
Spectacular Sunsets & Ocean Views Remodeled Villa
Gorgeous views and privacy

This condo had amazing views of four different bays and tons of privacy. Each bedroom's Ac worked great and was definitely needed. Other condos are to the side out of view and it was extremely quiet. We rented a jeep, and the hills getting to the condo are very steep so we recommend a jeep to explore the island. Plenty of flat parking for you and other guests. Views, privacy, ac, spacious villa, what more could you want? We loved it!see more
