Description from the owner
REEF HOUSE was completed in June, 2011 and is situated 150 feet over the sea and lovely, frequently deserted Crescent Beach on the Caribbean island of Bequia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The house is constructed of local stone and Greenheart hardwood in a Pavillion Style that reflects the older Caribbean tradition yet provides all the modern conveniences. The home works either as a TWO BEDROOM (just the upper level) option OR a THREE to FIVE BEDROOM option (see below) depending on your needs.
The upper level can be used as a TWO BEDROOM home as it is completely separate from the lower level downstairs THREE EXTRA BEDROOMS. Stairs to...Read more

What's Nearby:
Additional Location Information
Reef House is located on the south side of the small Caribbean island of Bequia which is part of St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Bequia is the largest of the over 30 small Grenadine islands and is about 7 miles long.
The house is situated 150 feet above the sea and the lovely, frequently deserted Crescent Beach which can be reached by just a five minute walk down the hill. Reef House was named after the off shore reef with its constantly breaking waves that one sees from every part of the property.
We chose this site specifically because of the powerful views that will captivate and entertain you from the moment you arrive and step out on to the ten foot covered veranda facing the sea, the vast tropical sky, the off shore reef and the two small islands in the distance.
It is about a 7 minute drive to the Harbor and town of Port Elizabeth where the shops, markets and restaurants are located. A rental car is suggested but there are reasonable taxis as well. A delightful beach bar/restaurant is also close by at the end of Crescent Beach. The island turtle sanctuary is a 10 minute walk around the end of the bay and other hiking trails are also close by.

Wilmington, Delaware USABequia's Strikingly Beautiful Northeast Coast Villa
Left on 05/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013
The Reef House was a striking beautiful, new Villa with balcony overlooking the calm, turquoise waters of Crescent Beach and azure blue waters of the atlantic on the East Coast of Bequia. It was an easy drive from Port Elizabeth past coconut palm groves and a warm country feel seeing cows and goats grazing on the way---a welcome respite from the fast-paced life of metropolitan, and even, suburban living in the States. The exterior architectural style is extremely well-suited for the windward side of the island with its sturdy stone walls and hardwood doors, which could be secured, fully opened or partially. This afforded us maximum views of Crescent Beach and the northeastern atlantic coast. In addition, there was a multitude of eye-pleasing and meticulous flowering gardens surrounding the Villa on both sides. We appreciated the hard-working gardener who maintained the gardens among beautifully, stone-paved walkways and drive. The whole villa is not only a work of architecture, but the villa is uniquely organized for a couple or a large family, and allows for maximum privacy for its guests. We found the furnishings very comfortable and pleasing with exotic Balinese style. Close by, we had a really nice visit with Orton King at the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary and learned of the importance of the care and preservation of this marine species. Our stay at the Reef House gave us an opportunity to slow down and reflect on the natural beauty of the Island of Bequia.

Decatur, ILAmazing Rental Home!
Left on 05/01/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My husband & I just returned from a 3 week trip to Bequia. The Reef House was even better than the pictures. It is very well maintained, clean and equipped with everything you need. The view was just incredible! We never got tired of watching the boats sail by or the kite surfers down below in the bay. Princess Margaret Beach and Lower Bay have great snorkeling as well as good places to eat. There is plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables in town. Delene, the housekeeper, is a wonderful cook. We really enjoyed our welcome dinner on the day of arrival. Reef House was a truly relaxing retreat. Hope we have the opportunity to return one day.

Antibes, FranceStunning views and wonderful location
Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We had a wonderful week staying at Reef House, on this lovely island. We chose the house because of its proximity to the beach and on arrival we were delighted with our choice, the island is little developed (in a good way) and the windward side has only a scattering of houses. The pictures can't really do justice to the amazing location and views, you have to be there standing on that terrace looking out at nothing but deserted beach and turquoise sea to really appreciate it.
We hired a little open car and whizzed around all over the island, you can be anywhere in minutes so don't hesitate to choose this side of the island as you can be in Port Elisabeth in no time.
If you choose Reef House make sure you get the house keeper, Doleen, to make a you dinner on a few evenings, she is an excellent cook and her food was some of the best we had on the island, and for a group of you it provides excellent value.
We were just two guests and took advantage of the great price for a couple, this made it comparable to a hotel for the week - amazing value in comparison.
Whilst staying on the island we really enjoyed going to Sugar Reef and Jack's Bar for lunch - great beach restaurants! -

Santa Barbara, CaliforniaFantastic Island Getaway!
Left on 03/01/2013 for a stay in January 2013
You'll be charmed by Bequia and blown away when you reach the Reef House. It's perched above the clear turquoise Caribbean waters of Crescent Bay. The unique architectural design keeps you in constant touch with the sea and dozens of doors that open to the outdoors bring the ocean breezes in. The bedrooms are all beautifully appointed with luxurious linens and towels. There is a small dipping pool where you can cool off if you decide to stay close to the house, but the best swimming is in the bay with the turtles and fishes. The Reef House was a fabulous place to stay. I can't wait to return!
