Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Immaculate does not seem to do Searenty justice. It is all you could want in a holiday letting and it overlooks the sea at Emu Bay.The main beach is several kilometers long of white clean sand and has vehiclar access.Close to the property is a small rocky beach.Pelicans and black swans swim in the sea near the jetty. Its as good as it sounds.Emu Bay is convenient to view the Island and get into Kingscote.
The owners are delighful people who live next door but never intrude. They are friendly and helpful and rightly take pride in their very well equipped holiday home.
I would have no hesitation in giving it the highest reccommendation. -

Melbourne, AustPerfect house in a truly beautiful location
Left on 01/25/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Our family of four enjoyed a 1 week stay at Searenity. Despite our arrival late in the evening we were met with a very warm welcome from Herb and Janette. The following morning they sat with us and gave us a fantastic guide as to what to see on Kangaroo Island and how to get there. The local knowledge they shared with us helped to make our holiday really special, from great spots to buy and eat fantastic seafood, to detailed information on the National park walks and lookouts (Herb was a park ranger there); outdoor activities that would appeal to our children; and information about the beaches around the island. The level of service they provide is above and beyond and was very much appreciated.
The house has been fitted out with all you could want for, and then some! Nothing left to chance! Not once was there something we thought of, that wasn't on hand! The property is meticulously maintained, and it was a pleasure to call it home for our time there. The Foxtel was an added bonus for our kids.
The location at Emu Bay was gorgeous and looking out over the water from the front deck was so relaxing. We found Emu Bay to be a great base for us as it was only a 15 minute drive into Kingscote for supermarket/restraunts etc, but being just far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquility it offered. The beach at Emu Bay was great for our children for swimming.
All in all it ticked all the boxes. We would highly recommend Searenity. Thanks Herb and Janette for a great stay. -

Left on 12/16/2012 for a stay in December 2012
This property is an ideal family hoiday home in an ideal family holiday location. The thought that has gone into design, fitout and inclusions meets the needs of anyone wanting a trouble free time away with family. Herb & Janette were ideal hosts - even if they had to shove off to Melbourne while we were in residence! Such was the attention to detail, we had no need to chase them over the airwaves. Their advice on where to go and what to do just prior to them heading off was spot on and greatly appreciated. Our one regret was that we were only there for 5 nights - 2 weeks would have been better - or maybe a month? Dang it all, let's just move in!

Herb and Janette have thought of everything. The flat is of the highest quality with superb fixtures and fittings The view of the bay is wonderful. It is only a short stroll to the beach which has resident pelicans and variety of birds around throughout the day.
If you need to know anything about the island Herb was a ranger there for many years and was very helpful when we stayed. I should say that comprehensive information is supplied anyway.

Our family of three were treated fantastically by our hosts Janette and Herb. We were greeted on our arrival and made to feel at home. Searenity is just a perfect location to use as a base to explore Kangaroo Island. The house is comfortable and we had everything at our finger tips. Little personal inclusions helped to make it feel like a home away from home. We have stayed here before and would stay again as its just so fantastic.

The house is very comfortable, modern and extremely well equipped. The view is spectacular and due to clever garden design, you can sit on the deck and feel you are the only house at Emu Bay. We found the house to be more than comfortable and easy to feel at home and relaxed, making it a lot easier to travel with a 4 month old baby! Janette and Herb were very friendly and welcoming, without being intrusive. I would recommend 'Searenity' to anyone looking for a home away from home on KI.

We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay on Kangaroo Island. The home was comfortable, the views were beautiful and Herb and Janette were great hosts, helping us make the most of our time on the island with their advice and tips. My only regret is that we spent 5 days there as it should have been at least a week. Kangaroo Island is bigger than you think and we went way over the 500 kilometers allotted by our rental car company. When we return we will stay at Searenity again and allow more time for sitting on the deck and enjoying the view with a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

It was a pleasure to deal with Herb and Janette from the time of our very first contact. They had thought about everything than any family might want and provided it. After travelling in a car all day around Kangaroo Island, there was nothing better than coming back to accommodation which had all the amenities one requires to relax. Herb and Janette were fantastic hosts - definite 10/10. We were greeted on arrival by Herb and Janet who explained what we needed to know in the short term and offered assistance readily if we needed it later. The house was excellently positione and we saw dolphins from the front door on a couple of mornings. The house was very well equipped and was a delight to stay in.
Our view from the littlt deck out the front was very impressive. the only thing missing was an outdoor eating table for a group to enjoy the great summer weather. We also found that $30 per night extra for each guest when two were students and two were pensioners was a little steep. -

We spent a short 4 days at Searenity and combined time at home with travel around KI. The house was ideal as we could cook when we wanted to but also were close enough to Kingscote to go out for dinner on other nights.
We all slept so well each night and really enjoyed both sitting outside reading and inside chatting or watching TV.
The internet was very cheap and meant that I could keep in touch with my work even though I had no mobile phone (this being due to no Optus coverage, not Searenity).

A group of 5 of us (all adults) stayed at Searenity for 5 nights in early February 2011. Searenity lives up to its name. On the edge of the small town of Emu Bay with glorious views over the bay and a short walk from the fine white sand beach Searenity provides a quite, very comfortable, and extremely well appointed base from which to tour Kangaroo Island or to simply chill out and relax. The owners, who live right next door but do not intrude on their visitors, are extremley friendly and very helpful. They have thought of everything possible to make Searenity a home from home for those staying there. The house was clean and well maintained. It was tastefully decorated and comfortable.

The beach at Emu Bay was beautiful with stretches of white sand. We enjoyed jogging along the beach with the water lapping at our feet. It was truly serene!
Kanagaroo island has a variety of wild life. It was a once in a lifetime experience to see Koalas, Kangaroos and Wallabies up close. The sea lions, the seals and the strange stone formations all add to the islands attractions. We would strongly recommend the bird show on the island.
We will definitely return to this place again and stay at Searenity to enjoy its unspoilt beauty. -

Left on 12/02/2010 for a stay in November 2010
We could not have enjoyed a trip more than this one. It was our first visit to australia and we did all the planning, driving and visiting on our own. We even started speaking the language. We arrived in Melbourne, toured the Botanic and Victoria Gardens (highly recommended) drove the Mornington Peninsular, crossed on Ferry at Portsea, drove the Great Ocean Rd, to adelaide. Enjoyed Cleland Wildlife Park, and spent two days touring the adelaide's Botanic Gardens and Zoo. Took Ferry to Kangaroo Is, and stayed at Searenity Holiday house for approx three weeks and just took our time and traveled the island in great detail. We then took the Dukes highway and drove back to Mellbourne (Magnolia Hotel) where we stayed another two days and went back to the Botanic Gardens, then the shopping area on Collins street, where my wife bought three pair of shoes and was thrilled with the selection.
We believe that the Searenity house owned by Janette and Herb Stichel is the best place that we have ever stayed on all of our worldly trips. Very modern, clean, great location, and very quiet. Ocean View out the large floor to ceiling windows. Fantastic attention to comfort and detail and wonderful host. We travel extensively and this is by far the best trip that we have taken. Highly recommend the facilities and if you want to see Penguins, Koala, Kangaroo, Wallaby and all sorts of colorful birds, then go to Kangaroo Island. -

My sister and I took our elderly mother for a week's holiday on Kangaroo Island and had the fortune of booking Herb and Janette's lovely modern home at Emu Bay. It was a home away from home, except I would have liked to take the home back with me. Exceptionally clean and fastidiously maintained, the house caters for everything you would need and would also ideally suit those travelling light, not having the ability to bring things with them. Don't worry, it is all there. We just loved the big picture windows in the spacious living areas, overlooking Emu Bay, watching the dolphins jumping in and out of the water. The house is spacious and very tasteful, lots of built ins everywhere and lovely bath rooms. As we stayed for a week we utilised the laundry facilities which has a front loader and dryer. Everything is catered for as if it were your own home. The location is fantastic, not far from Kingscote and lots of scenic points around Emu Bay itself. We were able to tour most of the Island in the time we were there, both north and south. It's easy to get around and the scenery is just stunning, particularly the coastlines of KI. Upon our arrival Herb and Janette welcomed us and took us to the home showing us all the features. They live close by which is great. The location is quiet with lots of wonderful birdlife. Lots of blue wrens that do not seem bothered by people around them. All in all, a superb holiday in a great location in a magnificent home run by fantastic hosts. Could not fault anything. We have booked again for next year.

Extremely good value for money. The house is clean (I'm a clean freak) and well equipped with everything you would ever need for either a short or long stay, mattress was heaven to sleep on. Heaps of room to spread out in the open plan lounge, dining and kitchen areas, just perfect for families. Good mobile connection which allowed us to dial into the internet.
I suggest you drive into Kingscote (15mins from Emu Bay) and grab some groceries at the well stocked IGA supermarket and also some bottles of wine at the bottle shop, as there are no stores in Emu Bay.
Watching the sun set over the point to the east (bit like Ayres Rock) with a glass of wine in our hand we knew this is what Searenity is all about.
My husband and I travel quite extensively around the world for business and usually stay in apartment style accommodation that have ratings no less then a 4star. Searentiy did not disappoint and if I were you I wouldn't look any further. Thank you Herb and Janette you both have done a fantastic job of providing an outstanding holiday home.

Our family of 4 stayed at Searenity for 4 wonderful nights and couldn't have asked for a better accomodation. It was modern, bright and spacious and sparkling clean with a nice view of the ocean within a short stroll to the beach. Every detail was considered for self catering and comfort and the house is thoughtfully laid out. Our twins slept in their own single beds and enjoyed not sharing a bed as they often do on vacations.
The owners, Herb and Janet were very helpful and kind without being at all intrusive. It is obvious that they care about their guest's experience and have a love for the area that they want to share.
Kangaroo Island was a highlight in our month long Aussie vacation. There is a lot to see and do and Searenity was a great home base for our adventures. No matter where you base yourself, there is a fair amount of driving involved in seeing the island's highlights and Emu Bay was a great place to come home to in the evening. During our evening strolls at Searenity we encountered pelicans, penguins, a koala and we could see signs of a wallaby or kangaroo that visited the house nightly.
If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay with good karma, Searenity is a perfect choice -

Cologne, Germanyein kleines Paradies auf Erden
Left on 03/14/2010 for a stay in March 2010

Barossa Valley, SAThe Serenity of Searenity!
Left on 02/18/2010 for a stay in February 2010
I travelled to Kangaroo Island with my husband, and two other couples early February and we all stayed at Searenity. It was wonderful!! Having stayed in holiday homes before, this one was by far my favourite. The layout of the house was perfect with living areas in the front and bed & bathrooms in the back. It provided a beautiful view of Emu Bay and is only a short walk to the Jetty and the beach. The kitchen had everything we needed (some holiday homes only provided a limited amount of cooking items and utensils but this one left us searching for nothing)! All linens and towells were also provided including towells for the beach and deck chairs.
Our hosts were so friendly, greeting us upon arrival and giving us ample information on our area. Herb is a retired park ranger so he was able to give us lots of info about the wildlife. He even came and got us one evening when he discovered a koala in a tree by our house! They are located in the neighbouring house so very handy if there is anything you need during your stay (including a cup of flour, thanks Janette!)
The third bedroom in this place is set up with two twin beds and a bunk bed so one couple was in twins but no complaints. The beds were all comfortable. Ideally this place would be perfect for two families of four. We were aware of the bed confirguration prior to our arrival as they have a very accurate description of the holiday home on their web-site.
The holiday home is located at Emu Bay which does not have a general store of any kind nor any restaurants. This adds to the serenity of "Searenity". However, it is only a 15 min drive to Kingscote which has all you would need.
I would not hesitate to recommend Searenity to others, we enjoyed our stay immensly.
Thank you Herb and Janette! -

Hong KongOur Best Stay While In Australia
Left on 01/12/2010 for a stay in December 2009
Searenity is the best and most relax stay for our 17 days trip in Australia. It's
so comfortable that we all feel home coming. All bedrooms, living room and
dinning room are nicely decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped with not only
stove and fridge but also with kitchen ware from fine wine glasses to oven. It is
also out of our expectation to find candle stand and we can do a wonderful
candle light dinner.
The host - Janette and Herb are very nice and helpful. We feel that we are their
VIP guests although we only stay there for 3 days.
Definitely, I will re-visit Searenity for my next vacation on Kangaroo Island

We had a great stay at Searenity.
We were two couples and stayed two nights. Not long enough as we felt a day
just relaxing in those lovley soft leather chairs looking seawards was needed.
Searenity is very well named. Lots of sea and peace and quiet.
The facilities were absolutely top standard with our every need and comfort
thought about and provided. Our hosts were warm, friendly and made sure we
were settled and happy. -

Searenity is great value for money and is highly recommended as a place to stay. The home is tastefully decorated, clean and modern looking. Everything you need is provided including a washing machine and dryer and small things like buckets and spades for the little ones. We had 8 people staying over the Xmas period and all had a great time. The kitchen is well equipped including a dishwasher and was more than large enough to prepare our Xmas Day meal. The views from the deck are spectacular and provide the perfect setting to enjoy a glass of bubbly overlooking the beautiful blue ocean. Herb and Jeanette are wonderful hosts with lots of local knowledge. They do everything they can to make your stay an enjoyable one. Nothing is too much trouble for them - all you have to do is ask. This is the second time I have stayed at Searenity and will hopefully be back for NYE in Dec 2010! Can't wait.

Left on 12/20/2009 for a stay in December 2009
Recently stayed at Searenity at Emu Bay on KI for a week with our two small children. Property was beautiful - modern, spacious and clean, with everything included we could have wanted. Hosts Herb and Janette were very welcoming & gave us some useful tips on things to do locally. Location was just beautiful - fantastic beach for fishing and for kids - long, white and very safe. Had a great week and plan to come back again.

Searenity was just as advertised. The owners welcomed us to Searenity, and everything was perfect.
It was great to have 2 bathrooms, and the bedrooms were decorated differently which was a great touch.
There were toys, and sand toys for any children staying, and a fishing bucket for the fishermen.
The location was great, having breakfast and watching the sea. The amenities were very well appointed.
There was everything one needed in the house, and if anything else was needed the owners were just a few yards away.
I would recommend Searenity for a very relaxing, comfortable stay at Emu Bay, Kangaroo Island. Our visitors from the UK who were with us were very impressed.

My elderly parents joined my husband and I for our 4 day mini-break. The property was well appointed with everything you'd ever want. We even tried the slow cooker out and loved that it cooked out delicious meal while we were out sightseeing for the day!
Herb and Janette were perfect hosts - always there if we needed them but not intrusive in any way!
We loved Herb's parting gift to us.... a peak at a penguin nesting right under our noses!
If ever we return to Kangaroo Island we'll be sure to stay here! -

Searenity has fantastic views over Emu Bay. The house is very recently built, beautifully maintained inside and out and has an amazing array of extras and little touches that make you feel right at home - everything you could want in a house. The owners are very welcoming and go out of their way to assist in any way they can. It's an easy 15min drive to Kingscote and an ideal base for touring on Kangaroo Island. I would highly recommend Searenity to other travelers.

When we walked into Searenity we thought that it could only be a few months old at most. What a surprise to discover that it was 3 years old. The condition of the house is superb. It is beautifully cared for and maintained. Add to that the friendly welcome from the owners, the beautiful views of Emu Bay and the sea, the seclusion and quiet...what more could we have asked for? We thoroughly recommend Searenity to anyone who is willing to respect the quality of the house, its decor and contents. We found the location ideal for exploring the Island and looked forward each day to returning to this beautiful, peaceful spot.

We liked everything and disliked nothing.
