We stayed in this apartment for 6 nights over the Easter holiday. Booking and arrival were very easy. We got a taxi from the airport which was very reasonably priced. We were greeted on arrival by Mario, who showed us around the apartment and gave us some tips about what to do, where the nearest supermarket was etc. Very helpful :-)
The huge plus point for this apartment was its location. It was very close to the Bairro alto and the centre for shopping. Plenty of bars and restaurants very close by - perfect! Be prepared for some steep hills to climb, though.
The apartment was very well equipped and there was plenty of room for four people. It was not perhaps quite so pristine as it appears in photos but we were more than happy with the condition and cleanliness of the apartment. We had a fantastic stay and loved Lisbon. We just got back from a four day weekend in Lisbon and were thrilled with this apartment. We have been living in Europe for three years and know that apartments and hotels are typically super small. However, Mario has done a wonderful job with this apartment. My husband and I traveled with our two daughters (1 and 5) and had more than enough space for all of us. Mario provided a travel cot and had the sofabed in the second bedroom all ready for my little girl. He even provided a highchair which was an added bonus. The kitchen is beautiful and had everything you could possibly need to cook and prepare meals. It was truly wonderful to come back at the end of a long, busy day of sightseeing and relax in this home away from home. It also has split a/C and heat which was great. Though we didn't use the a/C as it was not warm, I could see this be very helpful in the warmer months.
Additionally, Mario himself is professional, friendly and incredibly helpful with any questions you may have. He was very responsive before we arrived in Lisbon, as well as during our stay. His office is right across the street which is nice if you need anything at all. He even helped us find airport transfer services to and from the airport with Lisbon Off the Record who was able to provide a carseat and booster for our daughters. Definitely much better than the taxis!
I highly recommend this apartment. You will not be disappointed. It is in a perfect location near many restaurants, trams, trains and is a amazing price!Response from Fadoflats - 03/23/2013

Mario provides a great experience. The apartment is right in the heart of the best part of Lisbon, but is very quiet at night. We had considered renting a car, but this apartment is so well located, we ended up walking, or taking the tram everywhere.

If great location, comfort (this apartment has pretty much everything you ever thought you needed for a short-term stay) and value are your main considerations when choosing a place, look no further. We stayed here for the Christmas holiday. We found it to be an excellent choice. Close to everything even an organic supermarket. We stayed in Chiado 3 which is the top floor with excellent views but no elevator (just be aware if you are unfit). Excellent service. One night we had way too many appliances going and our power went out. The manager was there in 10 minutes. Another time the blowdryer died on us and we had another one by the afternoon. All our emails and phone calls were answered promptly, which is such a relief in a foreign country. It is very clean and has everything you need. I would definitely recommend this place.

This 2 bedroom flat is every bit as lovely as the pictures show and the location could not have been more perfect for our weeks stay in Lisbon! The flat is spacious, comfortable, light and a very quiet atmosphere. The kitchen is completely furnished with every appliance you could need for your stay. The flat is centrally located to many fine restaurants and opportunities to explore the neighborhoods nearby, just stepping outside the door. The metro and cabs are all within easy walking distance as well.
Mario and Marc were terrific hosts, from meeting us upon arrival to helping us arrange transportation upon our departure.
Chiado 1 is a superb place to settle in Lisbon during your vacation.

First of all, this apartment is not for people with mobility issues or heavy luggage. There's no elevator in the building and the apartment is actually on the 3rd floor, i.e. lots of stairs to climb. The street is very quiet, we were able to leave the windows open for the night. It is a one-way narrow street so you have to be very quick unloading your luggage. Underground parking is about 5 min walk away.
Kitchen is very well equipped, all appliances are easy to use. There're couple of grocery stores nearby and Mario explains how to get to them.
Washing machine was very handy and there's a drying rack provided in the apartment.
WiFi signal was great throughout the apartment.
The only thing we'd like to be better is the second bedroom. The bed there is very low and not that comfortable.
We liked the location of Chiado 1 apartment, it's in walking distance to the majority of tourist places. And Mario's office is right across the apartment and is always open. Great service!Response from Fadoflats - 10/19/2012

For our first visit to Lisbon, this partment was ideal. It is close walk to bars, restaurants and clubs, but also quiet, so you'll sleep well. Mario was a wonderful resource with tips about the city, and nearby locations (Sintra and Cascais), which are not to be missed. Strong recommendation for anyone seeing Lisbon for the first time or returning for a holiday.

The appartment has been furnished with love. It is situated in a quiet little street in the very center of Lisbon, right between Rossio (Metro), Chiado shopping mile and Bairro alto, where the nightlife is, just arround the corner of the beautifull Largo do Carmo. It was clean, save and fully climated. Everything we might have needed was there and the owner has his office just across the street and was always there to assist at any problems. The parking space in Chiado garage is a luxury we appreciated a lot. We liked to stay there and surely will come back.

The apartment is larger than what we thought it would be. It suited our family of four nicely. After staying in hotels for 2-1/2 weeks, we welcomed a kitchen and living room area just to hang out in between our outings. We enjoyed the Nespresso coffee machine available. Convenient location within walking distance of many great restaurants, subway, and mall (which our young adult children enjoyed). Would definitely recommend.

Our trip to Lisbon was made perfect because of the location of this flat and the service/information provided by Mario, owner/operator who's office just happens to be directly across the street. It was like having a tour guide at our finger tips the whole week. I literally opened the balcony door and talked to him while he was standing in his office doorway. The flat was the best equipped I've ever stayed in. The kitchen had more appliances than I have at home. Mario provided coffee 'packets' for the Krupps coffeemaker and when we had used them all, more were on our door step immediately. Excellent cable TV with many English channels and a drawer full of Dvds and CDs. Large bath with roomy tub/shower..good pressure and hot water (my make it or break it deal in any rental). Roomy bedrooms both with more closet space than I've seen anywhere in Europe. The only negative for older or disabled people is that it is a two floor walk up -- but Mario even helped carry up my luggage! The location was 5 minute walk from the hottest area of town for nightlife. Fado bars and great restaurants galore. All in all, for the money, I can't imagine a better place to stay in Lisbon.

The apartment is perfect!!! It is spacious, well decorated, cozy. Everything you may need for a comfortable stay is there. Its very convinient for those traveling by car because the owner offers a private parking near the apartment, safety and free of charge. The location could not be better! Excellent place!
Aos amigos brasileiros e ao falantes do português: esse é um apartamento realmente muito bom, espaçoso e aconchegante. Adoramos o lugar. O apartamento esta bem ao lado do bairro alto para aqueles que gostam de aproveitar a noite e, apesar disso, a rua é muito silenciosa. De lá, é muito fácil chegar aos pontos turísticos. Ao final da rua, que é pequena, existe um mercadinho de bairro como aqueles que quase não existem mais em cidades grandes e com um atendimento muito simpático. O proprietário do apartamento é muito educado e solícito e tem seu escritório bem em frente ao apartamento.
Eu recomendo esse apartamento, sem sombra de dúvidas. Para aqueles com idosos, lembrem-se que o ele está no terceiro piso através de escadas.

Nous vous conseillons grandement cette location. Idéalement située, meublée avec beaucoup de goût, nous y avons passé 10 jours géniaux avec nos 2 enfants. Tout est à votre disposition, lave linge, lave vaisselle, cuisine très pratique et une Nespresso comme à la maison.
Les chambres sont agréables et le quartier même si très "in" était calme.
Garage de la location est aussi très sûr.
Je vous conseille aussi la petite boutique d'alimentation en bas de la rue, typique, pas chère et les gens y sont agréables.

Although the cab driver claimed the address was in a totally different part of town, together with Mario and myself, we convinced him to get us to our destination! There are several similarly named streets in Lisbon, hence the confusion. After the initial hiccup, everything went 5 star from then on. The apartment is the quietest we have ever stayed in. Together with all the mod cons, we had the most comfortable 3 days compared to any other accommodation, we have ever had.
The location is perfect, with all types of public transport handy, shopping just down the road and restaurants aplenty ( see my review for Limoncello, v close ).
Oh, and did I mention how Quiet it was. Only 3 apartments in the block, the other 2 apparently owned by Europeans who live elsewhere most of the time...
The neighborhood felt very safe, we always were comfortable in that regard.
If you are into castles, go to Sintra for a day...there is a whole bunch to see, but after 3 weeks of castles and palaces, we did not appreciate them as much as we might have, if we had started our trip in Lisbon...but beware...mega touristy. Otherwise, the Red bus ( and yellow, green or blue! They got all colours here ) was a great way to see the town.
The apartment was very spacious, whilst at the same time cosy...it felt like being at home, type of comfort. Mario was a gem. He helped with organising a taxi to take us to the station...Portuguese is not an easy language to understand...they could understand my Spanish, but I struggled to understand the responses. However, most people we spoke to were able to communicate in English, except for one cabbie who took us on a merry ride! My friend and I stayed 4 nights in late September in the Chiado 1 flat. Our host Mario gave us a warm welcome and explained the apartment and getting around in Lisboa. We felt at home immediately, enjoyed the spacious and nicely decorated rooms, esp. the modern equipped kitchen. The two bedrooms in the back of the house, facing a tiny courtyard (no cars), guarantee a really quiet sleep. The apartment is situated in a quiet side street with almost no traffic, and around the corner you will find a great variety of restaurants, cafés, shops and nightlife spots. Even walking down the streets or steps to the Baixa (and up again) takes only minutes. In case the way uphill seems to exhausting, you can also use the wonderful Elevador de Sta Justa. Public transport like the tram 28 and the metro are just down the street. It was a great stay in a very beautiful city - and we are already making plans to return soon and enjoy a longer time in this lovely apartment!

We were staying in this flat with our two children (7 and 3 years old) for 4 days. What I must say, there is nothing that could has been better. The property is very suitable and well appointed. Location of the flat is just amazing. It is situated at one of this charming narrow streets within walking distance to public transport, all restaurants and shops. We would highly recommend this property to all travelers!!!

My family and I rented this apartment for the entire month of July. The apartment was extremely clean and well equipped. The location could not have been better. It was in the heart of the city and within walking distance to the metro and major tourist attractions. The host, Mario, was very attentive to our needs and his office was conveniently location accross the street. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a clean, safe, and centrally located place to stay in Lisbon.

My wife and two children ( ages 17 and 22) enjoyed our recent three night stay in Chiado 1. It is like staying in a suite at a five star, boutique hotel, without the services but also without the cost. The building was quant , well maitained and with a beautiful marble floored stairway. The flat was well appointed and thoughfully decorated/ equiped. The air condiotner was helpful because we caught a bit of a heat wave. The rooms were on the smaller end but comfortable, although my daughter complained a bit about her bed being too soft. Also the building, and the flat itself, was very quiet. Mario deserves the recognition he receives from other visitors for his dutiful attention to details, and his nice smile! We chose this flat over a larger one with an outdoor terrace because of its location. While i missed not having outdoor space, we were not disappointed in the location, especially as first time visitors to this lovely city. The location makes this a first rate flat. You are close to wonderful restaurants, boutique stores , the Metro, the Trolly, a wonderful park swith magnificent views, some interesting churches and the nightlife of Baro alto is not far away ( but far enough to not be part of that scene, which my children loved). Yes we were (are! - it is always a work in progress) picky with the decoration and equipment because, as you well remarked, in terms of location it is hard to find better place to stay in Lisbon. I believe a plus is the fact my office is just in front of the flat, in case guests need any info, help with appliances, etc. Sure happy you enjoyed your stay, come back for a longer stay soon!

This apartment, just up the street from the Chiado metro is perfect! Although it is in the very popular and busy Chiado neighborhood with tons of restaurants and shopping, the apartment is located on a quiet street and the bedrooms are located in the back of the house.
The apartment itself is very well-appointed and if internet is a must, then this is the place for you.
Mario, who is the owner, is readily available with his office right across the street. I was very impressed that he met me on the day that I left and waited with me for the taxi to the airport.
The bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable and the kitchen, living room and other rooms are as well. You will not be disappointed if you choose this wonderful apartment.Response from Fadoflats - 06/21/2011

The location is brilliant! Clean, nice furniture, calm, and the host Mario is so so so helpful! The ways are realy short either to Bairo alto (next restaurant is Cervejeria Trindade) or to the City Center (just a few steps downhill or the elevator uphill). And even though you stay just where all restaurants, cafes and bars are located there is really no traffic or noise in this little street. Nothing! And besides - the sleeping rooms are located in the back of the house facing a little courtyard. There's a small "supermarket" right at the end of your street. Perfect!

I would say that I'm pretty fussy when it comes to holiday rentals...a lot of the time reviews can be misleading and you can be disappointed...you won't be here! All the reviews are spot on, it really is a great place to stay. The apartment is in a fantastic location - with all transport options close by and the famous Bairro alto in walking distance. Chiado is a beautiful area with lots of character and charm, you could easily spend a whole week in just this area alone. We also did a day trip to Sintra which was excellent and well worth doing. The apartment is great, clean, spacious (there was only two of us), and the kitchen has all that you need to prepare meals at home. Towels are provided and a cleaner also came once within our week's stay which was a nice touch.
Mario was very helpful and super efficient throughout the booking process and he was promptly at the apartment to meet us on our arrival and also came when we left to wave us goodbye and book us a taxi which we really appreciated...a great host.
The complimentary Fado Flats T-Shirts were a really sweet gesture too. The whole experience was relaxed and hassle-free and we will definitely be in touch with Mario on any return visits to this beautiful city and would happily reccomend the apartment to friends and family.

As we are in the "vacation rentals" business in Cape Town, South africa, we tend to be very critical of rental accommodation in general. But as far as we were concerned, we couldn't find any fault with the Fadoflats "Chiado" apartment - location, equipment, spaciousness and level of luxury was perfect.
Mario, our host and owner of the business was also extremely friendly and helpful in every way.
The location was perfect as we could walk to most tourist attractions, or catch a train or bus to where we needed to be. We didn't take the metro or the trams but those were close by too.
With regards to the apartment, it was spacious, nicely decorated and equipped with items such as an espresso machine (which we got to be experts at using), chip fryer, dishwasher, washing machine etc. So we weren't short of anything. The apartment was also very clean and the quality of the beds and linen / towels was excellent.
Oh and the internet was very good. We both had our laptops with us as it was a bit of a working holiday and used lots of gigabytes making Voip telephone calls all over the world as well as running our internet based business - www.rentalscapetown.com.
We shopped for groceries down the Calcada de Duque at the Pingo Doce where we managed to find almost everything we needed. Closeby was also a very good health shop which had everything from vitamins to soya milk. Also the coffee shop "Aberrens" almost at the bottom of the steps was very good - Jose the owner was friendly and helped us with our Portuguese.
So we would definitely recommend this for travelers wanting a bit of privacy, luxury and the perfect location.

As a summary, this was a great experience. First, the communication and service by Mario was very fluent and smooth, significantly better than with the other rental agencies in Lisbon. The apartment is clean and modern. It has 2 bedrooms with a king-size bed in both. The location is excellent, very central but still quiet and tranquil. Highly recommended to everyone visiting Lisbon!

The apartment is very well equipped, spotlessly clean, comfortable, and in a central location - you can easily get to other parts of the city and to stations to take you to nearby towns like Sintra, or to the subway or the famous tram for getting around Lisbon. Being in this particular spot means you're within walking distance of so much. Mario is very efficient and charming and I'd recommend his service to anyone. Of particular value was the detailed and honest information he gave before we travelled - so tell him what you want to do most and he'll tell you which of his properties would be best for your priorities.

Nothing to fault in this fantastic flat right in the centre of Lisbon (albeit a few steps to get there - that's outside not inside!).
Just a very short stroll to Bars, Restaurants and beautiful terrace area overlooking city.
Kitchen is very well equiped - but could do with electric kettle - there is a fancy coffee maker, but bit of a gadget phobe here and like it old style.

My mom and I stayed here for three weeks in July of 2010. I have rented other apartments in European cities before (Paris, Amsterdam, Amalfi Coast) and this was by far the best one in terms of value, location, and overall comfort. Mario was so wonderful from beginning to end. He was helpful during the emailing/beginning renting process, met us at the apartment when we arrived from the airport, helped us figure out a day trip to Evora while we were there, and even called a cab for us when we left. What a gentleman! The apartment itself is ideal. Upon arrival, it was immaculate and had the essentials on stock (olive oil, salt, spices, even some coffee!). The kitchen has everything you would need to cook a nice meal and the coffeemaker was a must for waking up. The apartment was very spacious and well kept. Unlike other online apartments, it is actually larger in person than in the online pictures. The location was perfect. We walked to the restaurants of Barrio alto and the Rato (try Terra and Novamesa), down to the waterfront, and even to alfama when the weather allowed. The Rossio train station is a quick ten minute walk away--perfect for a day trip to Sintra. I loved leaning out the window of the apartment in the early evening to listen to the music school down the street practice Bach and the llittle old women pickering in the street down below. The park up the street (the Miradouro de Sao Pedro de alcantara viewpoint) was a favorite spot for afternoon or sunset drinks and only a three minute walk away! Again, our experience with Mario and renting the apartment could not have been better. I cannot wait to go back to Lisbon and rent the apartment again! Thank you Mario!

I went to Lisbon for a long weekend with my family. It was their first time in the city and I wanted it to be an unforgettable experience. We arrived very late at night and I was worried about what we were going to find in the apartment. We all were very surprised when we saw Mário waiting for us with a big smile in his face.
The apartment is placed in on of the most beautiful and colorful parts of the city of Lisbon. It is well-equipped and it has everything you may need to enjoy your stay. Everything in the apartment is warm and cosy.
During the day, you can walk through the streets around the apartment and at night you can also find a lot of restaurants and typical bars where you can savour the extraordinary Portuguese food.
I really liked everything and I am pretty sure that I will be back in Lisbon, in the same apartment, very soon. -

The apartment is really well located, in the Chiado area close to all night life in the Barrio Alto, and also two minutes walking far Metro and Rossion train station. It is really good because you can enjoy the night in Lisbon and walk back home, but no noise while sleeping. It is in a very quiet street.
The apartment is fully equipped and the attention from Agency is really nice.
I recommend it. -

We decided to a take short break in Lisbon and we luckily stayed in this Fadoflats flat. Location couldnt be better (everything of interest to us was within walking distance!) and the flat itself is great: all the amenities you could think of, really nice clean décor with a touch of home. The t-shirts given by the owner were a plus in welcoming us. Definitely, 5 stars!

Nos dieron el apartamento impecable, con todas las comodidades que puedan imaginar, hay que ir para comprobarlo, el propietario nada mas llegar nos dio una llave para cada pareja, nos recomendo sitios donde ir, comer,...en fin nos dio un trato exquisito.
La ubicación perfecta para poder conocer el centro de Lisboa y los medios de transporte estan bajando unas escaleras detrás del apartamento, super cerca.
Nos fuimos de Lisboa encantados con el trato recibido.
