Description from owner

Description

Listen to the creek, watch the wildlife and be only a mile from town. This new home has Australian Cypress hardwood floors, indoor grill, heated by a Tulikivi (A soapstone fireplace from Finland), and cooled by canyon breezes. We lived here for two years. The home was designed to let the cool breezes cool it but we also have air conditioning. No detail was left out on this unique layout with beautiful natural wood to create a lodge setting in a compact space. On the main floor there is one master bedroom with a king sized bed. There are two loft bedrooms accessed by a shipman’s ladder each with a queen sized bed and an additional single trundle bed. There is another raised sleeping area behind Japanese Shoji doors that houses a single mattress and toddler bed as well as a carpeted play area. Sleeping for 9 or 10 can be easily accommodated in this unique layout. Jacuzzi tub and a home office make this a place to come home and relax after a good day skiing, hiking or biking. The kitchen is fully equipped and the home includes a washer and dryer. Bring a DVD and use our 110 inch Projection screen with surround sound. The canyon road goes for 4-5 more miles and then ends in wilderness area. With the Logan to Jackson bike race and the Top of Utah Marathon both in the valley, this home is passed everyday by athletes who are training in a beautiful setting.

Outside the house is a deluxe private playground with sand box, playhouse, swings slides and an adjustable basketball hoop for any kids who want to join you. There are 10 acres of land to take a walk across the bridges along the creek. We have seen deer (almost every day), raccoons, moose, fox, rabbits, pheasants, owls, and other wildlife that live in harmony with this home. Yet we are one mile from the post office and McDonalds. We have the benefit of quiet seclusion and still close to town. It is like our own private oasis.

We have just opened this house up as a vacation rental and wish to share a dream that we created in a beautiful setting.

For weekends, we require a two night stay unless the weekend is seven or less days away.

This place was perfect for fall break. Plenty of room, great playground for the kids, they loved the large screen, and play room. It was comfortable. We can't wait for another excuse to stay.

“A good visit, with a few caveats”

Response from the owner Thank you for your comments. We are glad you had a nice stay, but I would like to address the caveats. This is a luxury canyon lodge that is heated by wood and we do have AC in all three bedrooms with a state of the art projector screen dvd system. That is explained in the home description. The time of year that this guest stayed we had the AC shut down for the fall/winter and it was warm enough that we did not have any heat on for our home. I explained that the fireplace put out a lot of heat. In a Tulikivi stove, building a fire is unlike other fireplaces as it is very efficient and as it was a warm fall, a large fire would make the home very warm. It is unlike other fireplaces in that you build one fire a day and it heats the house for 24 hours. If a lot of time was spent putting wood in the fire, then I can understand why there was "daily chores" of restocking the fire and why it was hard to "dance the dance" as the review stated. We created a wood storage area in the home so it is convenient to the fireplace so you don't have to go outside for wood. There is a large storage area but you can't just walk in as it only has about a 4 foot door opening. We agree the flies were a problem for that week. We have never seem them so bad and it was that way throughout the entire canyon, including our personal home. We made sure the house was empty of flies when the guests arrived, but it seemed that anytime a door was opened, they rushed in.We had never seen it like that before and it only lasted a few days. The bathroom is not next to the master bedroom but is just a few feet away. The 110 inch projector did create a challenge for the guests and when they called I was there within 5 min to show them the button to push. All the instructions are laid out for the home and to run the DVD projector system there are two buttons to push. I am sorry that there were so many "caveats' to this review and we have never had so many. We have had several hundred guests with reviews at V R B O and have never had any comments similar to this review.
