London, United KingdomAmazing place and such friendly owners
Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We wanted to stay at La Casa de Curia for our honeymoon but it was sadly fully booked. However, the owners were amazingly friendly and they offered us a cottage to hire only a couple of minutes away from La Casa de Curia. We snapped up the offer and we had the most amazing time. The owners of La Casa de Curia are so kind and very thoughtful. Anything we needed they would organise and they even took us on a tour to show us the local amenities. Such friendly and welcoming people, they really helped to make our honeymoon very special. La Casa de Curia is located on a hill with an amazing view and a couple of minutes walk from an empty beautiful beach.

Casa de Curia is a great place to spend a week or two (or more) if you are travelling on the Pacific coast. The main house is well equipped for large groups or, as was our case, extravagantly spacious for two. The house is well cared for, clean ( daily maid service), has good beds and comfortable furniture, interesting focal touches, internet service, washer and dryer, lovely patio with views to the ocean and with the exception of the pots and pans (updates are necessary for serious cooks), has all of the amenities one needs and expects in a vacation rental. The grounds are attended to daily, various trees on the property house families of wrens and horneros, the resident dogs are friendly and the hosts are available and attentive. Highly recommended.

The view is spectacular and the location is perfect...close enough to all the action and travel spots yet quiet and secluded to totally relax. Open the windows and let the breeze cool you off with the sound of the ocean a real sleep aid.
The house and grounds keepers are efficient and friendly and Julio is always available and willing to help. My son's flight was cancelled and my wife and I were handcuffed as we had no phone and my son had no internet. Julio got wind of our troubles, fired up his magic jack and invited us in his house until we were able to resolve his travel challenges. He followed up on us until my son arrived. We highly recommend the La Casa and look forward to returning soon. -

We stayed at La Casa de Curia in the Casita for 2 weeks and it was wonderful! Julio could not have been a more charming and helpful host. We truly enjoyed being able to converse with him in french - he had wonderful stories to tell and an incredible Spanish History lesson! The location was perfect. Curia is a quiet, small, sweet little town. There was easy access to buses to travel up and down the coast and having private access to a private beach was icing on the cake!
The sound of waves crashing against the shore as you fell asleep was priceless. The grounds were beautiful and we were well attended to.
We look forward to returning in the new year! -

I stayed at the property with my sisiter and girlfriend for 2-weeks, and we had a fantastic experience. The house is settled in a secure area (no security concerns), the daily housekeeping was great, the property grounds are well kept, and Julio was excellent help during our stay.
Thank you very much! -

Richland, WashingtonLa Casita is adorable!
Left on 07/28/2012 for a stay in July 2011
There is the larger house,La Casa and there is also on the same beautiful property a little one bedroom house called La Casita and that is where we stayed. We loved it! Great deck overlooking the ocean, well stocked kitchen, and the bedroom has big windows facing the ocean view. It is very easy to get to but still not in the busy area. Quiet and peaceful. The owners are very nice and accomodating. I would recommend this little casita to anyone unless you want to be in the middle of the Montanita party scene.

I can not emphasize how much we enjoyed our time here. In proof, we actually came back to the house twice during our trip to Ecuador. The property is lovely, hosting two rental houses - La Casita and La Casa de Curia. La Casita is perfect if you are in a smaller group (4 ish) as it hosts one big beautiful bedroom (with a view of the ocean) as well as a nicely sized common space with a deluxe futon. La Casa de Curia is an ideal spot if you have a large group. There are three large bedrooms, plus two lofts. The bedrooms each contain queen sized beds and the lofts host a combined additional 6 twin bed (we had a group of 7, but the house could have easily accommodated more). The house itself is very spacious, has a big patio and lots of common space. Both of the houses have fully equipped kitchens, which we appreciated and took advantage of.
The house itself is situated on a little hill, and is very private. I felt completely safe. You have access to the beach, however it is not waterfront. To get to the beach you have to cross the road and unlock the private gate (which belongs to the property owners). The walk to the beach takes no more then 5 mins.
The Olon-Curia beach is very quite and extensive. I walked the length of it in about 1:30 mins, only passing people here and there. We rented surf boards in Montanita and brought them back to this beach during both of the trips and really enjoyed how peaceful it was here. The house also provides you with some boogie boards as well as a few bikes to use.
The town of Montanita is approximately 6 km away from the house which you can easily get to by car, or taxi. The town has many restaurants, shops and lots of night life. The Montanita beach is quite beautiful, yet often packed. There are many shops that rent surf boards, bikes and there is even a dive shop if you are so inclined.
The owners father lives on the property (Julio) and was exceptionaly courteous with our group. On our first visit he gave us a great tour of the town, and showed us some spectacular views and great places to get coffee and groceries. The groundskeeper and cleaning staff was also fantastic.
I would hands down recommend staying here, and hope that one day I can return. If you are looking for a nice relaxing place to stay, within reach from Montanita and the beach, search no further!Response from La Casa de Curia - 06/02/2012

La Casa de Curia was great. It was nice to be away from the craziness of Montanita! Although when we wanted to join the party, buses went by every 10 minutes. It was nice to be able to cook our own food & enjoy it on our 2 balconies with an ocean view! We felt very safe (along with our belongings) which was nice. having a key to a gate that led us to a crowdless beach was a treat. We want to go back!

Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012
My wife and I stayed for the month of February and found this perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy the people and country of Ecuador and Montanita. Julio our caretaker checked on our possible needs daily. Our housekeeper Elya was wonderful. We don't speak much Spanish, but they knew enough English to respond to whatever our needs might be. Buying fresh fish on the beach was a real plus. You can trust the Jarmillio family. They are the best!

La Casa de Curia is a place of serenenity. The constant sounds of rushing surf that guarentees a peaceful nights sleep and speaks to the secure feeling we have had during our stay here. (this is a very safe place). We would first of all like to thank Bernardo who was very quick to reply to our questions via E-mail and by telephone which made booking a real pleasure.Lastly but certainly not least we would like to express our deepest thanks to Julio (Bernardo's father) who did bend over backwards in order to ensure our satisfaction. He and his staff deserve a five star rating and so too the wonderful accomidations. Again, Thank you.

Wonderful location to explore the beaches and towns from Salinas to Manta. Lovely, almost private nine mile beach for running and walking. Quiet location; secure living and parking area; wonderful ocean breezes so no need to use the a/C. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, large bathroom and shower with strong flowing hot water. Daily housekeeping and then, well, there is Julio on site to take care of absolutely everything from candles to directions to suggestions to practiciing your spanish and to ensure that you are happy, content, and comfortable.

Bernardo and his Father are friendly and easy to deal with. We have stayed numerous times, and have plans to return many times in the future.

Left on 10/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My husband and I stayed in the little suite (not the big house) The suite was spotlessly clean and it was obvious that a lot of work has gone into both the suite and the grounds (the plants were beautiful!). It was also very quiet and restful. Bernardo's father (Julio) wasn't able to be there but the staff took great care of us. The suite isn't on the beach but it's a very short walk to the village and beach of La Curia. We had a great time and look forward to returning soon!

La Casa de Curia is a beautiful place and we consider ourselves very lucky to have chosen it. Our host Julio made our stay unforgettable and thanks to him we have discovered sites we would have missed otherwise. We would like to recommend this vacation rental to anyone who likes walking along the beach, enjoys listening to the ocean and appreciates many wonderful things the coast has to offer.

Left on 01/31/2011 for a stay in January 2011
Casa de Curia met our expectations in every way. It was like having our own home on the Ruta del Sol coast. Beautiful view of the ocean from our private deck high on the hill where you heard only surf and where after dark a vehicle seldom passed, short walk down the hill along a private gated path to a pristine beach several miles long with gentle warm surf. Very secure with immaculate accommodations & grounds. (Convenient $2.00 taxi to Mantanita if you crave more action, restaurants or nightlife, or are into surfing with the young men from around the world chasing waves and pretty girls.)
Only problem with recommending this wonderful hideaway is that it might be booked when we are ready to return again next year! -

The casita was recently remodeled for renting purposes. It is well planned, very modern and clean, quiet, and extremely comfortable. It has a magnificent view of the ocean, while nestled a short distance away in the trees. We travel all over the world, and this was as nice a place as you could want. From the moment we arrived, Julio, the owners father who lives next door, welcomed us and made sure everything we needed was taken care of. We could only stay a few days, but we will return and stay much longer as soon as we can.

Left on 12/06/2010 for a stay in November 2010
This home is even more beautiful than the pictures illustrated! My two brothers and I stayed for 4 days and had a very relaxing time. Julio and his helpers were very kind and gracious. The food was phenomenal - fresh squeezed juices, eggs to order, and the legs of lamb (although french) were the best meal I had during my 10 day stay in Ecuador! Montanita is only a short cab ride away with lots of nightlife and surf shops. Highly recommended!

The people of Ecuador are so warm and friendly and this goes for Julio who owns and lives on the property. He was very helpful without being bothersome. There were 7 of us (2 families) staying at La Casa de Curia Dec 29 - Jan 9, 2010. The house was beautiful with plenty of room for all of us. We mostly went down to the beach at sunset, but you could see it from my bedroom as well as from one of the patios. The grounds were manicured and daily housekeeping was an unexpected plus. A short bus ride away from Olan and Montanita. Beach was outstanding. Highly recommend.
