What Past Guests Are Saying
The Best Stay at Home Holiday Ever!
We really thought about not telling anyone obout Pontoon House it was so good.
What a fantastic house in a truely special part of Mayo. The house has everything and more, loads of space, 5 bedrooms,4 bathrooms and more than fully equiped it is even better than the website depicts.
The views of Lough Cullin and Nephin Mountains are breath-taking, and the children had a ball in the fabulous garden and up and down the laneway on their bikes and to the lake.
You would want to be extreemly fussy to find a single fault with Pontoon House and we will most certainly be back.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 09/01/2012
Great to see how much you and your family enjoyed the simplicity of Pontoon House & the surrounding countryside. We look forward to making your next trip even better and will have a few treats for your return visit. Kind regards, Paddy & Emer.
4th visit to pontoon house
Back at pontoon house for our fourth visit, before arriving i did wonder if it would still work as children getting older...but yes it does! Probably our best visit to the house plus paddy arranged for the sun to shine all week. Walked to the lake early one morning...heaven on earth...love it. Will definately return
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 08/20/2012
Hi Bernie thrilled to see you all enjoying Pontoon House as good as ever......That is one special walk early morning with the sunshine, birdsong, calmness of the lake and every now and again meeting a fox....look forward to seeing you all again and many thanks for your continued custom. Kind regards, Paddy & Emer.
Superb luxury accommodation with stunning views of Lough Cullin
Pontoon House was all that was detailed on the website and more! With 5 bedrooms, there was plenty of space for both families. The house was exceptional, all mod-cons were provided and the information pack was really useful for suggestions on what to do in the area. What was extra special was the huge garden for the kids to play in with spectacular views of both Lough Cullin and the surronding hills. A great base from which to explore the many fantastic places Mayo has to offer, including Westport, Castlebar and Foxford to mention a few. The peace & quiet afforded by Pontoon House in such a magnificant setting will be hard to beat. There was no downside to this holiday, we will be back!
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 07/26/2012
Thanks Garratt for your lovely review.....it looks like you captured the essence of Pontoon House which is great to see. As with many of our clientele they love the return visits just as much. Look forward to seeing you all again in the West. Kind regards, Paddy & Emer.
Loads of space for 3 families with small kids. Plenty of toys, books, games for kids. The garden is brilliant. So much space to run around. See the chickens on a short walk to the lake for an adventure. Locals all very happy to see and talk to us. Great place to base yourself for exploring Mayo and Sligo. Only draw back that we found was that there was no pause button on the DVD player. Believe it or not that is vital for a holiday with 5 kids.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 07/19/2012
Hi Brendan thanks for your very kind review and summary of the important items to ensure the kids have a great holiday and as a result the adults enjoy it all at their end....will have that DVD working if you get a chance to return to the West. Kind regards, Paddy & Emer.
The Carroll Family
Wish we had more.
The sun shine was great for one week in 2012 and we got it in Pontoon house Moyo.We thank God for that.
The house was a gift all mod cons. All you would need is the grub.
The view of the lakes was out of this world with the mountains as a back drop.
The least we liked it was very hard to get to the lake ,and not too safe
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 07/09/2012
Great to see you had a great time and enjoyed some good weather.
Sorry If I didn't inform you of the lovely stroll to the lake if you follow the lane to the right of the house....continue until you meet a gate.....open it & close it and you are now on a public right of way that brings you on a beautiful walk around the lake.
Hope you find it the next time.
Paddy & Emer.
Well designed, well placed, well equiped and good value.
The owners were most helpful, the booking was striaght forward, the directions were clear and access was easy. The house was excellent for our party, it is well designed and very well equiped and spotlessly clean. We will certainly consider visiting again. Our only observations would be to allow credit or debit card payment facility for booking online, bank transfer is not always the most convenient way to pay though it does not detract from the experience. Regarding the house if broadband internet was availabe it would be benefical. Our overall experience was trully a delight and without doubt we would recommend anyone to book a visit.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 06/12/2012
Dear Richard, many thanks for your kind review, glad to hear you all enjoyed your trip to Pontoon House and we look forward to seeing you back in Ireland. Appreciate your constructive observations and take your points on board. Kindest regards, Paddy & Emer.

Superb house; really enjoyed it.
We were two young families, with 6 kids in tow ranging in age from 18 mos to 7 and we really enjoyed the house. It is very spacious with 5 large bedrooms and very comfortable. We'd definitely return.

Pontoon House was a lovely, well equiped and a welcoming holiday
We had an excellent stay in Pontoon House over Xmas 2011. The communications from Patrick were first class, both directions and ensuring we were settled, and the house was exactly as promised - clean, welcoming and with all the facilties we needed.
We enjoyed it so much, we have already made a reservation for the Summer 2012.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 12/30/2011
Thanks Andrew for your review......great to hear all the family enjoyed your stay....look forward to your return in Summer 2012....Happy healthy New Year to you all. Best regards, Paddy & Emer.
Pontoon House is without doubt a fabulous place to stay. Not only is the setting beautiful, with the kind of views people would pay good money to experience, but it is difficult to envisage a better designed and equipped house for a family break. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating too and kindly enabled us to squeeze one extra in to facilitate an extended family break. All ten of us really enjoyed our stay and never felt in any way crowded or on top of each other in a splendidly laid out, tastefully decorated and well appointed house with great facilities for cooking, relaxing and entertaining. The children also enjoyed the rugged, rocky garden a great deal. In all honesty it would be difficult to find fault with Pontoon House and we left feeling that it is a place we will most definitely come back to. The only trouble is I don't want to tell too many people about it as it might preclude us being able to make a booking next time around.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 09/08/2011
Hi Enda, great to hear you and your family enjoyed your holiday, you like our family have discovered the essence of Pontoon House. Thank you so much for your kind review, we look forward to your return visit. Best Regards, Paddy & Emer.
Brilliant House, great location, weather ok for Ireland!
We stayed for 9 nights in Pontoon house with young children/teenagers & grandparents and we had a great time. The house was fantastic, really clean, spacious, had everything we needed. The garden is completly secure and secluded, perfect for the kids. We had reasonably good weather so a BBQ would have been useful, but we improvised with a few disposeables. Paddy was there to meet us and made us feel really welcome, the welcome pack was a really nice gesture. We would definitely go back again & would recommend it to any family, location is remote, but if thats what your looking for, then its perfect.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 08/16/2011
Hi Dette great to hear you all enjoyed your stay in Pontoon House.....many thanks for your review and we look forward to looking after you on a return visit, if you ever get an opportunity to get back to the West...Best Regards to all. Paddy.
Big D and the clan
Just absolutely fantastic in every way from start to finish
We had a fantastic week in Pontoon. Weather was Irish so we excepted that. The house was a home from home, comfortable and loads of room for the kids to enjoy. We tried are hand a fishing for the first time so there was no shortage of locations close to hand. Ideal for the beginners or the masters out there. The location of Pontoon House is amazing, the peace to be found is beautiful. And Castlebar, Westport and achill are a stones throw away with the most picturesque of drives to get to them. I can safely say we'll be back as this house was everything we needed.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 08/13/2011
Hi Darren & Suzanne great to see you all had an enjoyable time.......hope you keep up the fishing and look forward to seeing you all again in the West. Best Regards. Paddy.
This is a beautiful house which has been made to feel very homely with all the finishing touches. It's completely private & secluded & brilliant for a "getting away from it all" break. The surrounding countryside is breath-taking & we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 05/09/2011
Hi Jane great to see you had a lovely break and thank you very much for your kind review. Best Regards, Paddy & Emer.
We have stayed in Pontoon House many times, with Granny (wheelchair bound) and young children, and we will definately return.
The house is absolutley spotless, it has everything you could possibly need and it works for both young and very old. There is a good selection of toys for the children and the garden is ideal for adventurous kids!
The house is in a quiet location, which from our point of view, was perfect as we did not have to worry about traffic. Having said that Pontoon House is ideally located to explore the surrounding countryside and the lake.
The neighbours are all very freindly and there were plenty of playmates for the children!
In short,... a great place to holiday!
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 05/02/2011

we would always come back, time after time with out hesitation

Pontoon House: a real hom
Pontoon House is a wonderful house in the middle of wonderful Irish nature, with all the eguipment you might need. The garden is large and the view is great. Pity there is no barbecue, but during our stay the weather was too cold to eat outside.
Bedrooms and bathrooms are very nice and numerous.
Dining room and kitchen are very well equiped and cosy.
Only litlle minuspoint is the rather isolated situation. It takes a while to get to the coast and other places worthwhile visiting.
I hope to go back there.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 01/10/2011
Hi Johan/Karen thanks a million for your review. We are a family of 5 and find it hard to get our kids away from the area where they enjoy all that the garden and it's surrounding area has to offer to include our 5minute easy stroll to the lake where we enjoy fishing &boating activities, long hikes through the bogs watching wildlife with many more local attractions as set out in our website to include Turlough Horse Riding 10mins drive, Foxford Wollen Mills & the National Museum. Look forward to looking after you if you get back to the West. Best Regards, Paddy.
Family of Six
We stayed at Pontoon house in august with our 4 small children. The house was perfect!!! Cleanest house we have ever rented. Great set up for families with children (or without!) - Kids loved the large selection of toys! The kids also loved the enclosed backyard, complete with a slide and toy tractor! The owners of the home were very accommodating and helpful. The views from the home were beautiful!!! The location of the house is perfect, beautiful area. We can't wait to come back! 5+ stars

Very central for travelling to scenic & heritage sites from
Ceidi fields & Inniscrone in north to achill & Connemara in
south. To the east Knock Shrine & the beautiful Mayo countryside, not forgetting the three lakes on your doorstep.

The Fishing Pilgrims
Perfect Mayo location for rest, relaxation and even fishing
Myself and fishing friends have stayed in Pontoon House on 4 occasions,it is first class accomodation for a family or group visiting the West of Ireland.Everything about this house from the open turf fire to the Ikea kitchen makes for a great socialising holiday home. There are local hotels and bars for food and drink after a days touring etc,but we found the house so comfortable we often prefered to stay home and enjoy this wonderful house.Sometimes we even caught fish, which was the object of the exercise!!!
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 01/08/2011
Hi Noel, great to hear from you & thanks very much for your very kind review. Happy, healthy New Year to you and your family & if you get an opportunity to return this year I look forward to making it another enjoyable stay. Best Regards,Paddy.
Luxury accommodation in a great location
Mr. Moran was most friendly & helpfull when making the booking, during our stay & afterwards. The house is in a lovely secluded location with beautiful panoramic views, is well appointed, tastefully furnished & equipped with absolutely everything you need for a self catering holiday. The kitchen, in particular, is a treat. Shopping & amenities a mere 15 minutes drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & have no hesitation in recommending Pontoon House to anyone.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 01/05/2011
Thanks very much for your kind review.
Wishing you & your family happiness & good health for 2011.
Look forward to seeing you all back in the West in the future.
my favourite place!
I have stayed at pontoon house three times with my family. I have also taken my sisters and in laws to stay there. Pontoon House is one of those places that if I won the lottery I would make Paddy Moran an offer for! I have family in Mayo but staying in Pontoon is the ideal spot to tour the northwest coast line.
Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 01/03/2011
