Left on 03/27/2013 for a stay in March 2013

      Fantastic!

Left on 07/15/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Our first visit to Skye, and what an introduction. The croft is very spacious and particularly so with just two of us. It is extremely well equipped and we didn't lack for a single thing. Portree has good restaurants and shops, including a Co-op supermarket (rare in the highlands) and is only about two miles away. Portee is also more or less central to the island so traveling to its 'four corners' is easy.

Many people have commented on the view from the windows and I can fully endorse this - I must have taken about 50 photos of the Old Man of Storr: with the changing light and cloud conditions being almost mesmerizing.

We are both birdwatchers, and managed to spot 25 species from the living room window, but unfortunately we didn't manage to spot an otter.

Scotland has so many magnificent places to visit, but I'm sure we'll return to Skye, and aite Taimh will be our first place of call.

      Amaznig stay - loved it!!

Left on 05/29/2012 for a stay in May 2012

A four day stay at the lodge was not enough. The lodge overlooks Portree bay and has open views around the bay and beyond. We went walking (5 adults) and had some of the most wonderful views I've ever seen, even beating those I seed on the West Highland Way and around the Glencoe region. Back at the lodge, we enjoyed the pool and table tennis and had a relaxing time in the enormous lounge area, taking in a few Dram's.
If you enjoy walking, or sightseeing then I would recommend staying at aite Taimh. It is a wonderful cottage, spotless and in an enviable position over the bay. Enjo

Lovely spacious cottage with fantastic views!

Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We enjoyed a great stay at aite Taimh this Easter. The house is much bigger than photographs suggest and the view are absolutely amazing. The chair in the lounge window is a great place to while away an hour or two and the panoramic view from the bedroom allowed us to enjoy breakfast in bed with an Imax cinema type vista! The games room has a full size table tennis and pool table which was enjoyed by us all and the house was warm, cosy and well equipped. My only suggestion would be the addition of a wood burning stove/open fire to return to after a day in the hills. The location is ideal for touring Skye and there are plenty of nearby shops and restaurants for food. I would definitely recommend this house for a relaxing holiday.

Another great week at aite Taimh

Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in October 2011

This was our third visit to Murdo's house just outside Portree. This time we were joined by friends for the latter half of the week and had an outstanding time. Aite Taimh is well appointed and very spacious and has one of the best views on Skye. The view across to Portree and the Old Man of Storr is simply stunning and you don't even have to get out of your chair to enjoy it.
On more energetic days walks into the Quirang beyond the Old Man of Storr and up to Corrie Laggan from Glen Brittle proved very rewarding.
Due to the central position of aite Taimh drives to the north to visit Flora MacDonald's memorial at Kilmuir or south to Elgol for spectacular views of the Cullin range are relatively short and very enjoyable.
On the few occasions the "Misty Isle" lived up to its name the games room with pool and table tennis was a real treat. We will definitely return next year and beyond.

      What a beautiful peaceful place!!!

This is an amazing house! Perfect place for our honeymoon.

The views from the lounge and main bedroom windows are fantastic. The lounge is large and very comfortable, 2 large sofa's and a cuddle chair - would have been quite happy just sitting in the chair all day looking at the view. If we had the space at home we would definitely have this chair, it is great. The bedrooms are modern and tastefully decorated, all are a good size, especially the main one, the bedding was clean, fresh and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipt with utensils, plates, bin bags, cleaning materials etc. the dining area has a big table which would be ideal for a group to have late night chats after dinner. There were books, and the games room had a pool table and also a large table tennis table.

Overall it was fantastic, will definitely be back.

Comfortable, peaceful and spacious location with great views

Left on 08/19/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Aite Taimh is very spacious and comfortable. The ever changing view from the lounge and main bedroom is a real pleasure - even when it is raining and overcast.

We arrived to find the accomodation very clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything needed for some reasonably adventurous foody self-catering (although we brought and used our own sharp knives, chopping boards and sauté pan we probably didn't need them).

The location being only a 5-10 minute drive from Portree made food shopping for a family with big appetites very easy and convenient but aite Taimh was still off the beaten track enough to be very private and peaceful. There were plenty of opportunities for walking straight from the house without having to take the car out or within just a short drive away.

The enormous games room provided extra entertainment for the few wet days we had.

We have stayed here every year for the last 6 years . We usualy visit in april although we have also stayed in October. This is a wonderful location with a beautiful view of Portree. The location is extremely convenient . You are very close to the shops, swimming pool ,library and the aros centre as well as being in a good position for trips to other parts of the island. The accomodation is very comfortable and well maintained . You will have everything you need in the house . We use it for family holidays for an age range of 25 to 85 and we all love it. While we do not have young children I think it would be well suited to families with children . There is a large area attached where you can play pool or table tennis if the weather isn't so good.

      Our first time on Skye

Left on 07/14/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Yes we were lucky with the weather which helps. The view from the lounge was wonderful and watching the changing tides across the bay was very relaxing. The house was spacious and well decorated. I particularly liked the large swivel chair in the lounge bay window, ideal for wildlife watching. The big plus as far as our teenage boys were concerned was the games room - pool and table tennis tables in the large garage which kept them (and occasionally us)occupied for hours. This made up for the lack of WiFi for internet access

      Good cottage in excellent location.

Left on 06/14/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Aite Taimh is a well-equipped, comfortable house with excellent views over Loch Portree. Convenient and very quiet location not far from Portree, a pleasant town which has all necessary facilities and is much improved from 30 years ago. Unusually, Aite Taimh has plenty of pans large enough for cooking for 6 hungry people. Directions to the house were easy to follow and Murdo was very helpful whenever we contacted him.

Furniture and furnishings are comfortable, and more tasteful than they look in the website photos. Rooms are all a decent size, and the master bedroom and lounge are large. Excellent facilities for bad weather, especially the games room. Lacks any seats outside. Given good weather and few midges, seats would have been nice.

The deck chairs and glass table in the games room are the outside furniture. We don't leave them outside as they get blown about when it is windy.

It was our first time in skye and Murdo was very helpful in reccomomending the best palces to visit and see. When we arrived there was also a guest book with plenty of useful local information which we found very handy.

The property was very easy to find by following the directions that Murdo had given us. The house was very large with plenty of room for the family (5 of us), with plenty of space for parking and the games room was good fun for a bit of evening family competition :-)
The view across the bay and onward to the hills is sensational and you simply cannot beat watching the sun go down across the bay when relaxing in the lounge.

During our stay here we were fortunate to have some excellent weather for the time of the year. We went for a walk to the Old Man of Storr and also hired some mountain bikes and went cycling around the north of the island both days out were an excellent experience and I would reccomend doing these when visiting.

Overall we had a brilliant time and will most definately be returning.
