Description
REEF HOUSE was completed in June, 2011 and is situated 150 feet over the sea and lovely, frequently deserted Crescent Beach on the Caribbean island of Bequia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The house is constructed of local stone and Greenheart hardwood in a Pavillion Style that reflects the older Caribbean tradition yet provides all the modern conveniences. The home works either as a One Bedroom (Master); TWO BEDROOM (just the upper level) option OR a THREE to FIVE BEDROOM option (see below) depending on your needs. WEEKLY RENT VARIES DEPENDING ON NUMBER OF REQUESTED BEDROOMS (see RATES section).
The upper level can be used as a ONE or TWO BEDROOM home as it is completely separate from the lower level downstairs THREE EXTRA BEDROOMS. Stairs to reach the lower level are on the outside north wall and are not seen from the upper level.
The spacious Octagon living room/kitchen with its vaulted wood beam ceiling and stone terrazzo floors is the center piece of this lovely home. The Octagon, as well as all the bedrooms, has hand-constructed nine-foot Greenheart Dutch doors, each framed by a cut stone arch, that open to magnificent views of either the verdant tropical valley behind the palm-lined Crescent Beach or dramatic views of the turquoise sea, off shore reef with its constantly breaking waves, or the two small islands in the distance. All the teak furniture has been imported from Bali and gives the house a relaxed, 'barefoot chic' ambiance.
All the five bedrooms have teak four poster beds covered with a mosquito net. Each of the five bathrooms contains a walk-in tiled shower, soapstone counter top and Balinese teak mirror. All bedrooms have a ceiling fan; no A/C is needed because the house has been designed to capture the constantly flowing tradewinds. There is also an extra TV ROOM on the lower level which has a teak single sleigh-bed and its own bathroom.
For added enjoyment, there is a plunge POOL with an underwater bench designed for sitting and relaxing and taking in the sea and tropical views.
COMPLIMENTS WE HAVE RECEIVED:
*You have the most handsome house on the island.
*Loved the quality of the comfortable beds.
*Loved hearing the ocean waves when lying in bed.
*Loved resting and reading when lying on the teak chaise lounge couches on the veranda facing the sea.
*Great to be able to walk to the Turtle Sanctuary close by (about a 10 minute walk by the seacoast).
*Loved the old Carribbean feeling of the stone house and being able to enjoy the modern amenities.
*The tropical flowers and plants in the entry garden are so beautiful!
