      A Vacation to Remember!!

Left on 05/05/2013 for a stay in April 2013

From the initial contact the trip was handled beautifully. Wonderful communication-even sent a packing list-except for that sweatshirt?? Home is located at just the right spot so that you enjoy the ocean from all views. Love the mornings from the balcony! Jami picked us up, handled everything. Effrain, the caretaker, was always keeping things just perfect. Rosa cooked for us several times and it was wonderful. Oh! the outside shower-we came home trying to figure out how we could design one at home. All in all a perfect trip, perfect house, and the best host/hostesses ever.
Ps-hope is the best dog ever. She is definitely the welcoming committee.

The villa exceeded our expectations! It was beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. The grounds were well maintained and the saltwater infinity pool was wonderful.
We used the provided kayaks and paddled out to a barrier reef that was full of fish and large corrals. Definitely would go back and stay in this fantastic place.

Fantastic villa in a spectacular location with all possible amen

Left on 04/25/2013 for a stay in April 2013

La Diosa del Sol is so beautiful and we loved the location, near the little town of Politilly Bight on the north side of Roatan, about mid-way along the island. The owners were extremely helpful with answering all our questions before we booked and providing valuable info before our trip.

The house had everything we could possibly need and more. There are 2 master bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom and both have a/C (helpful during the hot, humid nights). The upstairs master has a semi-outdoor shower - it was a great experience to watch the hummingbirds on the bushes outside and feel the warm breezes while having a shower. There are two more bedrooms, which we didn't even use. The kitchen/living room area is spacious with ample seating area for a large group. There's a TV with DirecTV hooked up, so we could catch up on shows back home, but we didn't need it. The infinity pool is amazing and we used it a lot. There's a lot of outdoor living space, which was a nice way to enjoy the spectacular views while eating meals or just lounging around.

The beach area and dock are convenient. We went out sea-kayaking from the dock and we also had Subway Watersports pick us up at the dock for a boat trip one day. We snorkeled out from the dock to some spectacular waters not too far away.

We liked being away from the prime tourist area in the western end of Roatan. We made day trips to different, amazing places every day, so we explored a lot of Roatan. Nearly every morning we went for a walk around a big loop up to the main road on one side and back down through Politilly Bight. The locals seemed quite friendly.

The property manager, Jami was very helpful with meeting us at the airport, showing us the house and answering our questions about the house and about Roatan. The on-site caretaker, Ephrain, did a great job of taking care of day-to-day things around the property, keeping the pool spotless and securing the gate every night. We felt completely safe.

      Ahhh paradise

Left on 03/25/2013 for a stay in March 2013

As an individual who has to write many things as part of his job I am truly at a loss for words. Every aspect of this wonderful vacation property not just lives up to the description but exceeds them. From the serenity to the views, the hospitality, the care, the personal touch it all comes through. Having traveled the world for work and play and stayed at some of the finest resorts, residences and hotels, La Diosa surpasses them all. From the personal touch of the owners ensuring you understand what your renting, to Jami and Ed and Efrain, it was truly paradise.

My wife and I, along with another couple celebrate our anniversary annually with a trip, we've been on cruises, to resorts, you name it and have been doing it for 19 years. This has been one of the best ones yet, it will be hard to surpass it for the 20th.

If you're looking for tranquility with access to the beach, great food within a reasonable travel time but not being part of the "hustle" of a resort, La Diosa is the way to go.

I can't say enough about the sanctuary that it is. Absolutely a must stay!

La Diosa del Sol is a superb vacation rental. The house is well-designed and includes every possible amenity needed for a relaxing vacation. Views of the sea and reef are terrific, especially from the infinity pool. Kayaks that come with the rental make the reef easily accessible for snorkeling. A nearby dive shop will pick you up at the property's dock for dive or snorkel trips. The property manager meets guests on arrival at the airport and is a good source of information. The caretaker keeps an eye on things in an unobtrusive way and is there to help whenever needed. Hard to do better than this on Roatan!

      What an amazing place!

Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012

I can't say enough good things about La Diosa del Sol. The house was perfect for our group of 6 adults and 3 children. I loved the layout of the place. The bedrooms are all well separated, which gives everyone privacy. The bottom level patio is huge and has tons of awesome lounge chairs and places to hang out. And the pool is amazing. The kids were in and out of it all day long (not to mention the adults). The big kitchen was fantastic for preparing big meals. And the sunken living room was great for hanging after dinner and watching movies. And the outdoor patio on the second floor was perfect for eating lunch or just hanging out during the day. All in all it just felt like every space was well designed and set up for its own use. Oh, and the views are amazing.

We also loved the location. If you are wanting to avoid the crowds, being on the east side of Roatan is a major plus. And it's honestly not that far from grocery shopping or even the West End if you want to go there. The house also has a great, secluded beach that is just a 2 minute walk down the hill, with a nice dock too. Perfect for cocktails as the sun set. Politilly, the town right nearby, isn't much to speak of. But there's a corner store if you need water or something. And you can find local fishermen who will sell you lobster and stuff so that is good. Oh and the reef that is about 1/4 mile offshore from the house (very short kayak ride) is amazing for snorkeling. And a few miles down the road are the East Bay beaches which are totally deserted and quite beautiful. I highly recommend going to Camp Bay and eating at La Sirena (restaurant).

There were two staff people connected with the house and both were awesome. Jami, the property manager, met us at the airport and was super helpful throughout. And Efrain, the caretaker, was great too.

I have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals and this was possibly my favorite one ever. Of course Roatan has a lot to do with that :) What a great place.

Great Experience, Great Property, Awesome Service

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My positive experience began from the day we first made and inquiry about this property, and didnt end through the end (and even after) our stay.

The owners were great to work with as we made our decision on a property to stay at. I had many questions about the property, about the amenities, about the island, etc. All my questions were answered in an accurate and timely manner.

The local property manager was fantastic. From the time we were met at the airport, the drive to the property, walking us through the property, checking on us frequently (but not intrusively), and checking us out.

The onsite caretaker was also a pleasure - he always was making sure we were safe and didnt need anything. A character to talk to as well.

The home was as described in the postings, the pictures and video dont do it justice. Not only was the house great, but there wasnt anything that wasnt available to make ourselves comfortable.

This property is definately secluded and out of the way. Very quiet and very relaxing. But the island is small enough that getting anywhere is very easy and quick - but do make sure you have a car.

The house is up a bit off the beach on the hill (giving a great view of the ocean), and you have to walk across a dirt road to get down to the private dock. Also while there is a beach, dont expect to swim in the area - just plan on enjoying the kayaks - paddle out a short distance to snorkle on the reefs. Many beautifual beaches are a short drive away for those who want to enjoy that.

My small family had a great time, we hit all the recommended restaurants, we used the recommended nearby scuba shop (Subway sports), we ziplined nearby, we did the dolphin smim, went to many beaches on both ends of the island.

All in all if you are up for a secluded and tranquil location - and up to exploring this beautiful island - this is a fantatistic place to stay.

We would return to Roatan and La Diosa with no reservations or concerns at all

      Great place to stay!

Left on 08/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012

I stayed here with my husband, my parents, and a teenage nephew - and it was fantastic.

I like that the house is far enough from the main tourist area that we could avoid the crowds and the noise, but close enough that we could pop over for a tourist experience when we wanted it.

We would kayak out to the reef to snorkel, then come back to the house for drinks in the pool, then cook a relaxed dinner to enjoy on the upstairs patio while the sun went down over the water. In the evenings we could just float in the pool and look at the stars.

Also, I cannot say enough positive things about the caretaker, Elias. He was attentive and considerate. In addition to so many other things, he would sweep the outdoor areas every morning and straighten up our swimming things so that they would dry. He was a wealth of knowledge about the island and all that it had to offer.

All the furniture is so comfy you just want to hang out for ever, including the beds, couch, and great chairs on the porch which has amazing views of the ocean. And it just takes a minute to get down to the boat house, pull out one of the great kayaks, and paddle out to the incredible coral reef which has millions of beautiful fish, each more dazzling than the next. Left on 03/31/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed at La Diosa in March 2012 and cannot recommend the house enough!

The house is beautiful, and very clean. There is so much the house offers: a beautiful kitchen with modern appliances in good condition, a big screen TV with satellite, a beautiful balcony to watch the sunset or sunrise, a pool table and a writer's room, a great pool and sunbathing area with a view of the caribbean, and of course, access to our own private dock where you can swim right into the caribbean! There were even kayaks to take out so we could go snorkeling or kayaking through gorgeous mangrove trees. Really, we could not have asked for more. It is secluded so we were not bothered at all with other noisy tourists, we could make our own food so it was economical, and we felt safe at all times with the wonderful and friendly watchman. This place is a great deal!!

The only drawback is that we could not have stayed longer!

We had a fabulous time at La Diosa. It was calming, comfortable, and relaxing. The house is clean and huge! There are several bedrooms that give everyone privacy, but the open floor plan lets you enjoy the weather and offers plenty of community space, as well.

Nestled in a town of real people (not tourists), you have great views, immediate access to the water for kayaking and snorkeling on your "own" reef, comfortable amenities, and an easy distance from other excursions like scuba, zipline, horse back riding, golfing, etc.

The service was great - there is a friendly watchman and the property managers can pick you up from the airport as needed. Adrienne and Maud, the owners, are spectacular and friendly people!

It's the perfect mix of comfort and adventure...

      Had a really relaxing time

Left on 03/04/2012 for a stay in March 2012

First time to Roatan and the stay here was very relaxing. Great views with fantastic winds, Was worried about no see ums but did not have any problems. We came south to get away and relax, and that we did. We had a tv but never turned it on. Had wireless service and that was great! For the first time on vacation, I did not take a cell phone and that was the best thing I did. There are some good restaurants but we went to Harbour seafood and bought all kinds of seafood and cooked it at the house. Elias the grounds keeper was 5 star! He was there for anything we needed and gave us a history lesson on Roatan. I can't say enough about his attitude to help us in anything we needed. And thanks to the owner for having him there, that is a bonus. The house is very open and plenty of fans which you need because of humidity. The house is loaded with everything you would need for cooking.
All in all, the experience was what we were looking for and someday hope to be back.

My family takes a month vacation in different locations every summer. As I have been to Roatan several times I knew the kids would love it. It was such a pleasure finding La Diosa Del Sol! The house and property were just as advertised. Claire and Kevin the property managers met us at the airport, took us by the grocery and then showed us around the house. They were friendly and very helpful. We loved the house! It was spacious, very comfortable and had incredible views. We took full advantage of the pool, the dock and the kayaks. The snorkeling right in front of the house was fantastic. Elias the caretaker was friendly and helpful. He was able to get fresh fish and lobster for us at the nearby village of Punta Gorda. I would definitely recommend to my friends.

      Fabulous

Left on 06/21/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Firstly can I say we loved La Diosa. What an amazing place. We were struck by the fabulous vista, by its quietness and in particular the lovely spacious airiness of the place.

We were blown away by the place when we arrived. The rooms were all lovely and there was always somewhere to escape the heat if you wished. The bug blinds really helped loads as it meant we could still enjoy the lovely breeze without being eaten.

Topping it all was the pool which our boys loved and us too. So nice to swim and not have stinging eyes. Always clean and looked after really well.

The kitchen dining and sitting room were so comfortable and relaxing. No shortage of things to do, games to play and all the kitchen utensils you could ever need. We had a couple of film nights which we really enjoyed. The large fridge made life easy and the furnishings were also amazing, great taste. Loved the masks and the modern art. It made it all special and all the more relaxing.

The boys loved the lizards and the geckos. The snorkelling nearby was fab and having the kayaks a real boon. Having the life jackets a great reassurance even though we are reasonably experienced on the water.

When we arrived Claire and Kevin met us at the airport. They were were really kind, always accessible and a great help with info and the lowdown on local spots to visit and places to eat. They made every effort to make sure we were fine.

As for Roatan we loved our stay and it was well worth the effort of making the long trip from the UK. The snorkelling was amazing. We saw turtles and swam with them, saw a sting ray and even a distant shark. Loads of extraordinary fish in the most beautifully transparent water. West bay was particularly good.

So what did we think? We had a fabulous holiday and a brilliant time with our children. The hire of a truck was a very sensible recommendation as it made the island accessible which otherwise we would have not explored as extensively.

I remember the trip well. When we arrived I enthusiastically went in and looked over the whole place. Each morning I awoke to see the tropical foliage against a blue sky of a sunny day. Every time I looked out I saw the vast expanse of unbroken calm where the blue of the Caribbean met the clear blue sky. And so the days past enjoying our activities of choice and then sharing a meal, a glorious sunset, an evening before retiring for a quiet night's rest to awaken and enjoy this repeating rhythm until it was time to return home.
Here, we lived without urban disturbances. Here, the comforts we were used to had been provided, and I got what I came for, a complete change of pace.

A secluded haven to restore one's soul. Faulous views.

Left on 04/07/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We loved the house. It provided the perfect blend of open island living and indoor spaces with high ceilings, screens, fans and fabulous views. The views from multiple different spaces in the house were so incredible that people wanted to find quiet time in every space during their stay. The house afforded multiple group spaces: 1. The comfy living room/ dining room/kitchen space with a TV getting tons of cable channels, a DVD player with a hefty supply of movies to watch, and a stack of games). 2. The table and chairs on the upstairs deck had different stunning views and provided an outdoor dining area at dinnertime and a quiet spot to read a book or sift through your dreaded emails (using the wireless internet provided) during the day, and 3. The fabulous poolside patio that offered lots of both sunny and shady spots. Again, the views out to the ocean and coral breaks are stunning. Around the pool one finds an array of tropical plant life that attracted an assortment of birds.

The bedrooms were arranged in such a way that every room felt private. Every room had great cross ventilation and most had fabulous views. We loved the sleeping and the fact that screened in windows and fans allowed us to sleep with the fabulous evening breezes that came with the nightly rain showers. We could hear the wind, rain and surf breaking, yet not get bugs or birds in our room.

We loved the hours spent reading books, sharing stories and hanging by the pool. We pulled one of the big can lights out onto the patio and ate out there every night. Around that table upstairs, we enjoyed endless family laughs. Great family time for our clan! . La Diosa del Sol afforded us the tranquility and serenity of a beautiful space in which to relax, yet offered an array of our favorite outdoor recreational activities with the scuba diving, kayaking, and island exploring.

Lounging around the pool, there was ample room for everyone, as well as a good balance between sun and shade! The views from the pool area, and the entire upstairs were spectacular!! The dock was not only a launching place for the kayaks, and the pick up spot for the scuba boat, but a quiet respite at dusk. Kayaking out into the bay to snorkel out by the reef!

Our Stay at La Diosa Del Sol

Left on 03/10/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Our stay at La Diosa was marvelous! We especially enjoyed the fully-appointed kitchen... My husband and our friend did most of the cooking; they were delighted that everything they needed was within reach, and of such good quality. Someone had undoubtedly spent some time thinking about these ammenities!

We felt very comfortable and safe; and the caretaker (Elias) was always there for us. He even asked his friends to go fishing for us, so we had an abundance of lobster and white fish - and with all the fresh fruit we picked up, we ate very well.

We ventured out a few times to the West and to the East and realized that La Diosa was situated perfectly on the Island. (We prefer the East end)

By the time we left for home, we were rested, tanned and feeling very healthy -- just what we like in a vacation.

What a wonderful place you have... Thank you!

      Peggy and Greg Morgan

      Beautiful private villa

Left on 03/06/2011 for a stay in February 2011

A lovely, secluded villa atop a hill overlooking the ocean. Accommodations were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen, as well as an outdoor grill perfect for preparing snapper, grouper, lobsters, crab, and conch that Elias, the house's gracious caretaker, would procure straight from the sea to our door.

This was our first visit to Roatan, and we were concerned about traveling with a little one (our daughter is just over 18 months). But the property owners were readily responsive to our e-mail queries before we traveled, and their advice was spot-on. During our week in Roatan, we spent time walking the grounds and the area near the house; we took the kiddo to see iguanas and butterflies; went to see local dance performances; took a boat ride through mangrove tunnels; and did lots of swimming (at the pool and La Diosa's private beach as well as elsewhere on the island) and snorkeling (at the West Bay and by sea kayak from La Diosa's beach). And though we tried to stay away from the internet, it was helpful that when we needed to, we could sign onto the wireless and catch up on work e-mails from our seats on the porch looking out over the Caribbean sea. We're looking forward to going back again someday, with friends (and next time we'll leave the computers at home).

La Diosa...the hidden gem of Roatán

Left on 01/18/2011 for a stay in December 2010

La Diosa was the rendezvous point with our daughter, a Peace Corps volunteer in mainland Honduras. Upon our arrival at the airport, Kevin and Claire greeted us with cheery helpfulness, we quickly located our rental car and then we caravanned to the amply supplied super mercado in French Harbor. After buying out the store, we headed to the East end of the island where la Diosa is located in Politilly Bight. Very quickly we settled into our relaxing, lazy, daily routine: running along the country roads, snorkeling the aqua-colored caribe waters, kayaking, investigating the villages that dot the coast of the island, taking a dip in the pool and of course, watching the sunsets! Several times, Elias, the caretaker and concierge of the property, arranged for the delivery of freshly caught live lobster and King crab and local fish, plus he made arrangements for a very early taxi ride to the airport for daughter. We never made the trek to the busier West End for dinner, it was always much more fun for our family to share the cooking responsibilities, and enjoy a relaxing dinner en casa! What our family enjoyed the most was the location, far from the cruise ships and tourist hotels. The house easily accommodated six adults, and came equipped with internet, DVD player (and a library of films), W&D;, BBQ, and two lovely Katrina rescue dogs, Hope and Grace.

If you are looking for a refreshing alternative to resorts on Roatan, look into spending your vacation here. La Diosa Del Sol is situated on the north side of the island at Politilly Bight. The villa has stunning views, lots of privacy, an extremely well-equipped kitchen, a private dock with kayaks for your enjoyment, a beautiful infinity pool, and much much more. We had a wonderfully relaxing week here.

Chic and lovely in the Caribbean or Beautiful and Romantic Geta

Left on 09/07/2010 for a stay in March 2009

This is my second stay at La Diosa and it was just as beautiful as the first time. I went the first time with my husband and it was a relaxing and romantic getaway. The views are spectacular and you feel immersed in the sights and sounds of the tropical forest. What really surprised us was how chic and comfortable the design and furnishings of the house are. We are in the fashion business and travel extensively for both leisure and business and the house is very unique for the Caribbean in being so comfortable, elegant and whimsical. We were instantly transported into our own paradise. The staff was attentive but unobtrusive which is exactly what we were looking for. The house is very spacious and open and made us think it would be a great place for a party. We had been raving about our experience to some of our friends and we all decided to go together. When we
arrived the staff remembered us and gave us a warm welcome. Although there is a lot to do on the island, we ended up spending most of our time at the house, swimming and kayaking and cooking in the beautiful kitchen. The time just flew by - La Diosa is a wonderful place to get away from it all. We will definitely be back.

As exciting as it was relaxing!

Left on 09/01/2010 for a stay in August 2010

I recently took a much needed week long vacation and stayed at La Diosa Del Sol. I found the house and the part of the island where it was located to have a perfect combination of elements.

On the one hand, it is very luxurious and relaxing. You could pretty much spend the entire time at the house laying out by the pool, playing pool in the game room, taking hikes around the 4 acres available and kayaking and snorkling off the dock - that is if there weren't so many other exciting things to do nearby. We took a flight on a sea plane with a gorgeous view of the island, rode a zipline through the jungle and swam with dolphins, just to name a few of the activities.

I think that the type of person that would get the most out of this beautiful villa - is someone who is up for a little adventure - someone eager to do some exploring. I can't wait to go back!

Arrive tired and tense; depart relaxed and renewed.

Left on 04/23/2010 for a stay in February 2010

My husband and I stayed with friends at La Diosa del Sol in late winter. We would highly recommend this expansive, well-designed villa to others who are looking for a peaceful, safe, and healthy retreat on Roatan. A caretaker lives on the grounds. The house is built to U.S. hurricane standards, while hard surfaces reduce allergies. We swam often in the Infinity pool and snorkeled or kayaked in the Bight. My husband and I occupied one of two suites overlooking the gardens and the Bight. Beyond our spacious bedroom was a large bathroom and closet with laptop safe. The upstairs suite has a large whirlpool tub. Another smaller bedroom has an adjacent bathroom. Several other areas can be used for sleeping. I read on the screened hammock porch! It wasn't hot, so we used overhead fans instead of air conditioners. In the evenings, we usually hung out on the top level of the house. The kitchen has extensive stone counters, sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, pantry closet, and enough kitchen utensils for real cooking. Although the well water appears clean and clear, we were advised to use bottled water for drinking, cooking, and washing fruits and vegetables. It is recommended that one cook most vegetables and fruits (except the local hydroponic lettuce) to avoid any chance of food-borne illness. None of us had any GI problems during our stay. While the cook(s) or dishwashers are busy in the kitchen, they can chat with their friends, who may be loafing with Wi-Fi, books, satellite TV, or DVDs, in the living room a few feet below. More party-minded guests could head for the large screened patio with pool table and bar on the lower level. Our group made excursions out to the Carambola Botanic Gardens, the Iguana Farm, and West Beach (snorkeling). We ate a tasty breakfast at “The Bakery” and delicious lunches at the Coconut Tree in West End. We would love to return to La Diosa and now have plenty of ammunition for encouraging others to join us!
