The service we received began when the housekeeper carried most of my things upstairs for me since I have very bad legs and shoulders due to arthritis. She was there to change a lightbulb and was so helpful.
The house was across the road from the water but all sides gave a water view and we enjoyed the sunsets and early morning coffee on the porches. Since we gathered at different families houses for dinners and swimming, we were able to enjoy not only our location but those of the other family members. The only bad thing was a big rain and some flooding on the streets around us...which couldn't be helped. We loved the crabbing across the street on the pier of my niece's house. My Golden Retriever loved the yard and the upstairs fenced in porches where she could look at what was going on in complete safety. I always want to choose one of your houses so that my best friend, my dog, Snobell can come with me. This is important since my husband has passed away. My grandchildren loved the house and visiting the other families. We like the restaurants on the island and also in appalachicola. Plus having a complete kitchen in the house to prepare food when we didn't eat in town. I do like being on the water best and want to rent the house again across the street again so we can have access to the pier. We will go to St. George as long as we are a family and hurricanes don't interfere. My husband and I spent our honeymoon on St.Geo.Isl. in 1983 and all years after until his death two years ago. -

We stayed at the Southern aloha from January 3, 2011 to March 14, 2011 and enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was our first attempt at being "snowbirds" and we loved it. You can see the apalachicola Bay out of almost every window of the house. The house has two good sized bedrooms, one with en suite, and both with very comfortable king size beds. Our needs were rather unique for the living space, but with careful rearranging and the purchase of computer desk we were able to utilize the very large living area to suit our purposes. (Sorry we didn't return the furniture to where it should have been, but as you know, we had to leave very suddenly. We'll try to do better next year.)
The wonderful veranda gave us much pleasure on warm days, including our yellow lab, Charlie, who liked to "survey his realm". Even though we spent a lot of time on the Gulf side walking Charlie on the beach, we always enjoyed returning home to the quiet Bay side. The quiet and the gorgeous sunsets gave us a sense of peace we've never experienced anywhere else. St. George Island is truly Paradise and we are looking forward to returning next winter to "our" Southern aloha.

The house was great..The island was beautiful..no complaints...We look forward to being there again..
Hanna at Vacation Rentals went above and beyond to find us a nice place on short notice..I really appreciate her efforts and hope you do as well..

Southern Aloha is located across a dirt street from the bay on a corner lot. There is a home directly across that obstructs the sunset view a bit but you can still view from the porch by looking around the house or with a short walk across the street to a more open viewpoint. The house was overall clean and comfortable. A burnt out light bulb was replaced quickly. My issues were broken plastic deck chairs stacked but left on the property, some light trash scattered about in the yard, a couple of previous pet stains visible on the bedroom carpet and the master shower that squealed loudly from the water pressure.
