London EnglandA wonderful holiday
Left on 02/01/2012 for a stay in November 2011
We stayed at "Coral Sands" for a four week period from 20th November 2011 and had a marvellous time. I unhesitatingly recommend it,
It is hard to imagine a better place for a wonderful holiday in the sun. The comfortable apartment is well equipped and has everything you will need to enjoy your stay. Even beach towels, chairs and snorkelling equipment are provided free of charge, Everything is so close at hand. The nearest beach is twenty paces from the front door of the apartment, Speightstown centre with its shops and restaurants is a further short distance away and the Bus Station, which provides cheap and efficient transport to the rest of the island, is literally just around the corner.
Speightstown is a pleasant town with one or two very interesting buildings. The local museum, known as arlington House. is well worth visit. One of our favourite places to eat was the Fishermans Pub which comes highly recommended for good quality Bajan food at a great price.
The weather throughout our stay was fantastic and whilst we had rain perhaps one day in four it in no way detracted from our enjoyment as it was soon over and if anything provided a cool interlude in an otherwise hot day.
The owners of the apartment are great people to deal with and Sonja, who represents them locally, is exceptionally helpful and goes out of her way to ensure that you enjoy your stay.
We hope to return soon. -

Madison,WIWonderful stay!
Left on 01/31/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We had a wonderful trip and the apartment was even better than we expected. We had no trouble getting ahold of Sonja when we arrived and she was ready and waiting for us after our taxi arrived. The apartment was very clean, very well furnished and had everything we needed for our stay. Really like a home away from home although the apartment is slightly larger than our house so we reveled in the extra space! We spent the first week mostly hanging around Speightstown, going to the beach a lot and exploring the town. We had breakfast on the balcony every morning; it was wonderful to sit outside and watch the waves. Our son especially loved to stand on the balcony and watch the cars go by (go figure). We did have to rearrange some of the decorations to be out of his reach, but that was a minor thing and I think I put everything back in its proper place. :) The beach was very nice and private; we were the only people using it the vast majority of the time we went down there. All the rocks and coral did make it a little hard to wade with our two year old but we did find some nice sandy spots and he had fun going out a little deeper with us holding him.
We spent the second week renting a car and exploring more of the island and found that Speightstown was a very good base for going to most of the attractions that we wanted to see like the wildlife reserve and animal Flower Cave.
Overall, we had an excellent trip and would recommend Barbados, and this apartment, to anyone seeking a fun and relaxing family vacation.

Ontario, CanadaAmazing stay in an amazing apartment at an amazing price in an a
Left on 11/18/2011 for a stay in October 2011
My husband and I spent our 2 week honeymoon in the White Sands apartments, and we absolutely loved it! Everything was better than perfect. The apartment was fantastic, the weather was fantastic, and the locals and Speightstown were fantastic! Sonja was so great, and really outdid herself with her help. :)
I highly recommend this place if you're looking to 'get away' from busyness. It is very quiet and peaceful (which is our kind of vacation!). Even if you want to do more - it's perfect for everything.
There was rarely ever anyone on the beach across from the apartment, so my husband and I enjoyed having it to ourselves everyday. We rented a little jeep, and explored the whole island as well - highly recommended!
If you're staying here, I would recommend you really explore Speightstown - it is so neat, and the people are all so friendly. We visited many restaurants on the island, but the most frequently visited was 'The Orange Street Grocer'. The owner, Nick, was so nice and helpful as well. 5 star for the service, atmosphere, taste and price of food. Another great nearby restaurant, a little further down (a little more pricey, but worth it!), is 'Mango's by the Sea' - mmm... :)Response from Thilo Bechstaedt - 11/27/2011

To rent one´s own apartment to guests that appreciate it leaves also the hosts very satisfied. Even more, if they are having their honeymoon there. We thank our guests for another very positive review.

Left on 09/25/2011 for a stay in September 2011
I took a break from it all right here in Barbados where I live and work. My children and I spent a weekend in Speightstown and they loved it!! The apartment is right opposite the beach and the rental was comfortable, tastefully furnished and was equipped with all the necessities and niceties that we are accustomed to at home.

LondonGood size apartment on beachfront
Left on 09/20/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The apartment was exactly as described & was large, bright & well equipped making it ideal for a self catering holiday, especially if you want a fairly quiet & relaxing holiday experience. Speightstown is a small, friendly town with only a few restaurants although there are a couple of supermarkets, but is also convenient for bus services around the island, as the bus station is a 5 min walk. The beach opposite the apartment, which was so quiet it was almost private, made for some lovely views & you could relax on the balcony watching the world go by or take a dip any time without having to plan ahead. We did not use the 2nd bedroom, which was downstairs, as it felt too far away for our young son to be sleeping away from us but it was easy enough to use the sofa bed in the lounge for him. It was very handy to have a good washing machine & tumble dryer, as it meant we did not have to pack loads of clothes, & although we did not use all the facilities, everything you needed was there to make self catering easy. It was unfortunate that we did not find out about the mosquito nets until late into our holiday but this did not spoil our otherwise fabulous family holiday. Sonja, who was the local caretaker, was very friendly & we could take advantage of her local knowledge for various things. Overall, well recommended.

New YorkBarbados is good time
Left on 08/30/2011 for a stay in March 2011
My family and I (Wife + 3yr old child) stayed at Coral Sands in Spreightstown, Barbados for a week in March of 2011. We loved our time there and were provided with all the necessities we could need from our host. Although the duplex apartment was right on the beach, the view of the ocean was blocked by a house directly in front, across the street. This was the only issue we had with the place. Being that it was on the beach, we could walk outside everyday and be in the surf instantly. The town itself is cute and definitely better than the larger resort towns further down the coast. In all, I would recommend this apartment for your vacation rental.

BarbadosA wonderful staycation
Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Coral Sands apartment is a very attractive very nicely done renovation to an elderly building on the northern edge of Speightstown which used to conduct trading by schooners with Bristol, UK. Its well appointed kitchen and one bedroom with a/c on the ground floor, and its other bedroom with a/c and living room on the first floor are comfortable rooms.
It is located on the other side of the road from a public but little used beach with safe swimming outside of storm conditions, and faces due west looking out over the Caribbean Sea. Also located within easy reach by rented car or public bus of many tourist spots on the island of Barbados.
This northern fully stocked Barbados second town of Speightstown is a mere 12 minutes walk away.
I would have rated 4 ½ stars if possible.

CanadaBeautiful Home-Away-From-Home
Left on 08/21/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We spent two weeks at Coral Sands apartment in Speightstwon, St. Peter, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The apartment is comfortable, well equipped and in a great location close to beaches, shopping and restaurants. The view from the second floor balcony overlooking the Caribbean sea is beautiful. It is a short walk to almond Beach Village hotel and we watched many sunsets from there. Fresh fruits and vegetables are available from the local ladies in town and we enjoyed picking up the morning newspaper from the gentleman in front of Courts (all within walking distance). We recommend going to the Wave Rider restaurant across the street from the apartment and La Bouche, a newly opened Rum Shop, with dining upstairs, overlooking the boardwalk along the sea. Fisherman's Pub, by the Fish Market, is nice for a drink and local food. We did rent a car while there and toured the east coast, stoping at The Fish Pot for lunch and The Round House on the east coast and Crane Beach. Bus service is good and it is easy to get around this way as well. We shopped at Jordan's and Eddie's in Speightstown and both have a wide selection of groceries and various items. The apartment was very comfortable and we only used the a/c a few nights as the air circulated well through the apartment and it was nice to catch the fresh sea breeze. Sonja, the local Manager was very helpful and friendly. Thanks so much, Maria and Thilo, for sharing your lovely spot in the Caribbean.

The apartment is very large, with beautiful wood floors, a full working kitchen and all the amenities. The concierge is very helpful and diligent. We really felt like we were staying at a top-tier hotel, but with the coziness of a home. Definitely great value for the money.

LondonCoral Sands apartment, Speightstown
Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in November 2010
We were looking for a place away from the touristy areas and "all-inclusive crowds" - and definitively found it in Coral Sands, Speightstown.
The booking was easy and efficient and the very helpful owners immediately replied to additional questions we had, suggested flights, car-rentals, supermarkets and restaurants in the area.
Sonja awaited us to hand over the keys and to show us the apartment, which was spacious, well equipped (including washer/dryer, dishwasher) and clean; the bedrooms had air-conditioning, internet was freely available and the terrace overlooking the beach equipped with chairs/table/sun lounger was excellent for a morning coffee or evening drink.
Speightstown is very well located for various beaches at the West/Southwest coast or trips to gardens in Central Barbados, and has some excellent restaurants (Fisherman's pub, Waverider).
We are already thinking about when we could fit in our next Barbados/Coral Sands visit...
